▪ Goal:– Produce writing that supports opinions,

demonstrates understanding of the content, and conveys real and imagined experiences and events.

▪ Three-ring binder with a Language A section– Tabs (L.A. Current, L.A. Archives)– Extra paper or notebook for note-taking, homework, etc.

▪ Blue or black pen, red pen, and #2 pencil

▪ Highlighters (at least four different colors)

▪ Student planner

▪ Silent reading material (e.g., book, comic book, magazine, newspaper, etc.)

Grading Procedure

▪ Total points– Classwork & Participation– Homework– Assessments (e.g. essays, projects,

presentations, quizzes, tests, etc.)

Assignments

▪ Assignments will have different point values– Summative assessments are worth 50 to 100

points.– Homework will be worth 10 to 20 points.– Classwork/participation will be worth five to 10

points.

▪ Major assignments need to be turned in on the due date. One letter grade will be deducted for each day it is late.– In the case of an absence, it can be turned in via

email or dropped off at the main office by 3:30 P.M.
