The show features the University of Oregon Department of Architecture Luminaire Design Competition and Exhibit, task light designs by senior students in the Product Design Program, and furniture pieces by the Interior Architecture Program. 2 6 PM | Studio Mantra Salon (40 E 5th Ave) Explore several mediums of art at Studio Mantra Salon. Stylists create HairArt on live models in collaboration with fashions by Ariana Schwartz, Designer and Instructor of LCC’s “Refashion Lab” class, and her students. These designs were created from recycled materials. Also on display: Margie Templeton’s show “Journeys In and Out,” work in oil and watercolor, and “Evoking Nature,” pen and ink work by Amrita Dutia (front). 3 6:30 PM |Belle Sorelle (488 Willamette St) Step into Belle Sorelle to find unique decor creations by local artists to grace your home. This ArtWalk stop features rescued tea and coffee pots that are then paired with beads from old jewelry and vintage flatware by Carolina Tinklers, painted and reupholstered chairs by Crazy Legs Chair Company (left), and beautiful hand-built utilitarian clay pieces by Clayfarm. 4 7 PM | The Lincoln Gallery (309 W 4th Ave) View the new exhibition of artwork by participants of the OSLP Arts & Culture Program. This diverse exhibit features paintings, ceramics, handmade books, prints and screen printed soft sculpture by twenty artists. Also on display: Artwork highlighting OSLP’s Mentorship Program, including paintings by Larry Hurst and drawings by Vern Gray. The Community Room Gallery shows “Never Too Late” by The Art Forum, an artist group for anyone interested in creating or showing their art. 5 7:30 PM | Raven Frameworks Inc (325 W 4th Ave) Jon Christopher Meyers presents a photographic essay on the birds of the Cascades Raptor Center. Jon has donated his skills as a commercial photographer for several years. Many of the photographs in the show have been used in outreach materials to bring attention to the CRC’s rescue and educational efforts. Prints are available for sale, with a portion of the proceeds going to the Cascades Raptor Center. This stop includes a special visit from a feathery resident of CRC! Various dance groups perform to live music as visual artists interpret the scene. Featuring: Paul Safar’s composition on piano with Ben Farrell; Susanna & Emilia in an improvisation; choreography by Alito Alessi of DanceAbility, danced by Jana Meszaros and Kelcie Laube; choreographer Laura Black’s group piece; dancer Alli Bach performing “The Tap Page;” and dancers from Eugene’s Tango and Coalescence community. 6-7+pm. 35 FOOD For Lane County’s Empty Bowls Sale (The Dining Room, 270 W 8th Ave) The sale, beginning at 4pm, features about a thousand bowls created by local artists. The sale ends at 8pm or when the bowls are gone! Proceeds benefit Food For Lane County. 36 #instaballet (771 Willamette) Watch Eugene Ballet Company dancers make a ballet! Audience members suggest steps from 5-8pm to create a ballet performed at 8pm. Stop by to see what they have and purchase local art. 5:30-8pm. 38 Lane Arts Council’s First Friday ArtTalk - “Guiding Space: An Exploration of Set Design in the Theater” by Christopher Acebo (Oregon Contemporary Theatre, 194 W Broadway) The Associate Artistic Director of the Oregon Shakespeare Festival discusses the art of theater set design. Starts at 5:30pm. 39 Passionflower Design (128 E Broadway) “The Art of the Cocktail” Join local bartender Richard Geil of Party Downtown from 5:30–6:30pm as he demonstrates how to make seasonally fresh cocktails using flowers, herbs, produce, and syrups. 40 The Architects in Schools Showcase at Shelton McMurphey Johnson House (303 Willamette St) & The Octagon (92 E Broadway) The Architects in Schools program matches professional architects and design professionals with elementary school teachers for a 6 week residency. Participating schools include Adams Elementary, Camas Ridge Community School, and McCornack Elementary. Stop by to see projects created by students. 41 No Shame Eugene at the Atrium (99 W 10th Ave) The show begins at 8pm with fifteen original, 5-minute acts including monologues, sketch comedy, and the experimental.
