Venue introduction

The venue of the project is located in Yunnan Ethnic Village which lies to Dianchi Lake of Xinan Outskirts in Kunming, Yunnan Province, covers an area of 89 hectares. It provides the platform to reflect and show the 26 national social and cultural customs of Kunming, is the national AAAA level scenic spot, the base of state ethnic affairs commission culture.

The theme source of origami animals—Yunnan isanimal kingdom, and has the excellenttraditional folk papermaking process and thepaper folding culture. The two combineperfectly.

The culture of origami artOrigami originated in China. The history dates back to 583 A.D. When the Buddhist monks went to Japan from China by Korea. They brought a great deal of paper. As the paper is very expensive at that time, so they use them rather cautious, and origami became part of etiquette exchanges. Since then, the art handed down for generations.

Project meaning

In consideration of animal: As the “animal kingdom”, it should be highly advocated to protect animals in Yunnan. The tourists can be attracted by the lovely animals.In consideration of traditional culture of Yunnan: More and more traditional minority’s manual papermaking art has been lost. Hoping thatthe different displays in the park could make more and more people understand Dongba paper, pattra leaves paper, etc., and fall in love with the origami art.

The design of origami theme park aims to help the tourists cultivate the awareness of animal protections and enjoy the charm which is brought by origami culture in the process of travel.

Design specification“Back to rivers” is located near the entrance of the theme park, and regarded as water kingdom of origami animals. Tourists can choose rivers century or vines creeps around the pool. The adventure lovers can take a small paper boat into the park. Appreciating traditional origami art in rivers century and vines creeps around the pool is full of childishness. While, the most adventurous and interesting thing is the paper boat, and we can see the fish along the way.

Key words: blue, fresh and retro

Rivers century“Rivers century” is the specific viewing channel of the park. The “ice world” scenario is created by the biomes in Fuxian Lake & Maotianshan Mountain. When walking inside, you can appreciating the native origami art works of Yunnan and understand the culture.

There is a fat fish in the origami fish bridge which plays the role as the introduction to the culture of Fuxian Lake & Maotianshan Mountain. The picture above presents the indoor designing chart of the biomes.

Paper boat drift

The partition displays various funny behaviors of the lovely origami animals in the “bathhouse”, such as splashing, swimming, fishing, listening to music or enjoying the sunbath that make them lively and interesting.

“Paper boat drift” let us enjoy viewing the original forest landscape when rowing to the park with the fish. Find child’s simplicity when rowing in the boat. Enter origami animal kingdom to start a fantastic trip.

Vines creeps around the pool“Vines creeps around the pool” is another road access of the park. A waterway which is weaved by vines. The “bathhouse for animals” can be seen from theindentations. The road access is through to “the wizard of Oz” and “fantastic riverbank”.

feathers living in the park. Some of them are

standing on the river. The others are standing on

the mire.

Design specificationThere is a fascinating jungle landscape in the “modern jungle”. When waling in the jungle, we can meet various kinds of interesting animals like monkeys hanging on the tree up side down, the little elephant following his mother, the running clouded leopard, etc. Besides, we can plays interactive games with origami animals.

The entrance of modern jungle

The service centre is in the area of “white elephant bay” where all relative problems can be solved here. It provides the rental shops of animal karts for children. The small karts allow children driving them in the park.

Stamp collecting game in the park

Distributing stamp collecting cards or books in each road access. We can exchange gifts by the number of awards in the exit. (The stamps are dispersed over the park.) The patterns of the stamps are different origami animals.

White elephant bay

Modern yardTourists can come to the only catering area where presents the interesting lifestyle of origami animals through “white elephant bay”. You can enjoy the meals with elephants, and it’s also a good place for taking photos.

There is a thick plantain forest at the end of “rivers century”. Forest inside, tourists can shuttle therein, go to next partition with white elephants and experience the unique charm of special atmosphere of tropical rain forests.

Origami trees of tree house tribesOrigami tree house is a place teaching the tourists, especially the children to learn paper folding. It provides paper and animal patterns as well as qualified teachers giving specific guidance to us.

You can relax yourself after learning paper folding. Meanwhile, the micro-landform structure allows children playing here.

Here is the outdoor origami trellis. It’ll be more relaxing for paper folding in nature, and will help you make animals what you will see in the landscape. You must feel a sense of accomplishment.

The wizard of OzTourists can advance towards along the animal foot print trellis in “the wizard of Oz”. You can also sit down and rest with the animals around you.

A flock of giraffes are craning its neck to eat leaves in “the wizard of Oz”. Of course, you can take photos with them and it must be an interesting experience.

Fantastic riverbank

It’s the mushroom jungle of “Fantastic riverbank”, a resting place offering circular seats. You can staying here and play with the rabbits.

“Fantastic riverbank” will be more stimulating compared with other partitions. The origami clouded leopards are running on the cascade fast and furiously. You can also appreciate the scenery on both sides of the waterfront wooden bridge.

Here is one part of “Fantastic riverbank”. The adults and children can swing under the trees crawled with clouded leopards. Relaxing the mind and taking a short rest.

Expanding jungle The partition named “expanding jungle” provides all kinds of facilities for climbing and playing. Summon your courage and come with your friends to fulfill the task.

They are the experience items of “expanding jungle” with tree root, colorful ramble and climbing mesh. The children can have fun and experience adventure here.

Design description ：“Leaping over time & space” is a Dai style paradise combined with leisure, recreation and shopping. It’s also the home for peacocks and toucans. One of the partitions named fantastic forest museum will take you to the jungle world . Follow the peacock to start a fantastic trip here.

“Fantastic forest museum” is divided into two layers, respectively called science museum and concept shop. You can experience the fantastic space of the technology with the origami animals and buy the favorite origami presents in the shop.

“Peacock in Dai Garden” is the main landscape of “Leaping over time & space”, having the colorful peacocks and toucans. You can fell the tropical climate when lying in the hammock here

Totally two tree houses are located in the tree house tribes. The tree house offers the indoor venue to make paper folding.

Reflect the pursuit of personal space, dedicated spirit and not the same formality culture. It is a subculture phenomenon which is appeared in the development of economic globalization. A new culture，which is on the condition of the certain developing level of consumer culture in the modern political and economic situation.

People become indoorsy since the start of modernization.

Advice: On the basis of retaining the original signs, further strengthen the directive function of school road signs to facilitate the teachers and students as well as the people outside school.

Design description: The location of the project is located in Chenggong campus, Yunnan University which occupies 2677333 ㎡. Many facilities are being constructed in the new campus, so the design site was chose in the School interior to improve the signs in school and has a complete marking system.

Planning description: We distribute the site in the school into 7 big blocks and 13 small blocks according to the function, and part them with colors. Each color represents one partition to improve better recognition.

The meaning of “seven steps away”

“Seven steps” comes from seven blocks with different functions “Away” means distance

“Seven steps away” contains the meaning of far and near distance. Just like the description of the studying process in the university with 4 years, it seems far but near.

Color: yellow – relaxing and lively Material – metalDesign description:The school building area is used for learning. We need constant discussions in the learning process. Using the dialog box shape, add with the posture of birds to represent the lively learning atmosphere in the area.

Color: Green – healthy and positively color Material- metalDesign description:Hospital is a place for help keeping healthy. We do not want go there but sometimes have to. Use the drip shape to represent the hospital humorously.

Fifth step: Chasing in the road- stadium area

Color: water – relieve pressure Material- metalDesign description:Two flying birds are fighting in the sky. The water drop shape just like the sweat after activities and the flying feather.

Sixth step: Birds singing and book open- library area

Color: water blue – refreshing and improving eyesightMaterial - metal Design description: The impression of library is full of books that show the large number of words. So in design, use words to represent, except of the head and trail of birds.

Seventh step: The eagles in the wide sky- Yunshan area

Color: green – forest, mountain Material - metalDesign description: Yunshan as the last step means the growth is temporarily ended. Mainly represent the final magnificent changes after the growth and begin to start the migratory journey. Meanwhile, contain the best wishes for the students who will leave school to step into society and continue to grow up.

Color: organge – the special color in Yunnan University Material - metal Design description: Realize the shortcoming like heavy of original signboards. In design, apply hollowed-out shape with the structure of tree. The back scenery can be seen through the signboard. Besides, plant several vines around the sign to meet the beauty of the combination of design and nature.

In the design of general plan, choose several main distributions, add rotation function. Like the Yunshan area, the back scenery of it after rotation is Yunshan and bell tower. Even the person who comes first time or has no sense of direction, the road can be recognize clearly after seeing the reality images. Find the landmark building to find the direction.

NAME: ALICE IN WONDERLAND Design description: 1.Connect the film named Alice in Wonderland and extract elements from it.2. The film graph is too gothic. Follow the color of the original drama and create the fairy tale atmosphere 3. The designed hat shape is the main shape in the stage 4. Stick the oracle in the hat and outspread it 5. The mushrooms are distributed high and low, and set in cluster shape

Theme content: Alice in WonderlandScene: afternoon teaPeople: Alice, Cheshire cat, Mad Hatter, dormouse, March HarePlot: Under Cheshire cat, Alice found Mad Hatter who is having afternoon tea and discussed with him to overthrow Red Queen. During the time, Mad Hatter helped Alice to elude capture of Red peach knight. Finally, he took Alice to look for White Queen to extract elements: hat, mushroom, oracle and the windmill ladder.

Design description: The design is made by loofah. Then bind the pieces of loofahs into a ball with thread. It mainly uses the unique shape of loofah center and its special natural texture which can be clearly presented through light's illumination as well as the natural texture shined to the wall can make people feel comfortable.

Design description: The architectural form designed is surrounded living space. This is mainly from two aspects to consider. One is architectural interiors, another is the setup of living environment.

Design theme: Surrounded and semi-open living space

The buildings are mainly with the reinforcing concrete. The setup of living environment is on the basis of loop concept to promote the communication of neighborhood and harmonious living as the substance of the living space. Design internal and external double ring road inside to smooth the transportation. The interior space includes open centre green land, and each building with personal backyard. The single architectural type forms the overall semi-open setup. Each building from the inside out includes vestibular public greenery, the hard pavement which is uplifted in small area to boot into the backyard, living space, private backyards. The buildings are separated by the wall with attached and hard pavement which forms the setup into transverse 5 parts and vertical 3 parts.
