• The area at the base of a mountain

Plain

• Flat ,wide open space

Plateau

• Area of high, mostly flat land that rises above surrounding land

Costal Plain

• Low land that lies along an ocean

Peninsula

• Land almost completely surrounded by water

Basin

• [bath tub] bowl shaped land with higher land around it

Canyon

• Deep, narrow valley with steep sides
