Welcome to Trenching and Excavation. The construction, servicing and/or maintenance of leachate collection systems, gas collection systems and drainage swales, to name a few, often involves working in or around trenches and/or excavations.
Trenching/Excavation
Those not involved in the trenching or excavation operation must refrain from entering and maintain a safe distance from all trenches and excavations.
Trenching/Excavation 1
I understand and agree that those not involved in the trenching or excavation operation must refrain from entering and maintain a safe distance from all trenches and excavations.
Trenching/Excavation 1
Hazards commonly associated with trenching and excavation operations typically include but are not limited to:• Falls• Cave-ins• Hazardous atmospheres (including oxygen
deficient atmospheres)
Trenching/Excavation 2
Remember, landfill gas is heavier than air and will therefore migrate into low-lying areas such as trenches and excavations and will displace oxygen. When oxygen is displaced in this way, breathing becomes difficult or impossible.
Trenching/Excavation 2
Only trained and qualified persons under the direction of a certified competent person are authorized to perform trenching/excavation activities at this Waste Management landfill facility.
