Conditions of Transactions

Mortgages are short term – a few years long-no declining balance mortgages

Interest to be paid as sum every six months

Mortgages are obtained from people early. Institutions appear around 1870.

• Although the Frederick Wilhelm Franke household is first household in the 1512 e Lombard st (new address) in the 1880 census, he was a tenant in the property he owned for over 20 years.

• All of his real estate was liquidated before his death in 1883; therefore, no probate.
