The October sale saw 28 of the 29 catalogued entries forward. Trade was much improved on the month with a ring side of buyers eagerly competing to secure replacement heifers and cows. The pre-sale show was judge by Holstein Young Breeder, Tom Gorst of Saltoke Holsteins. The champion rosette was awarded to Lot 19, Bilsrow Ostia Fleury from David & James Tomlinson of Bilsborrow Hall, this heifer also stood first in the halter led heifer class. She later went on to realise £2000. The reserve champion was awarded to regular vendor J Burrow & Son with Lot 7, Stardale Tiergan Vaakje 3, this sweet heifer giving 34litres went on to achieve the day’s top price of £2180. Cows sold to a top of £2020 from J Huddleston, Ravenscar with Lot 14, Ra-venscar Lovejoy Hyacinth a strong second calver giving 42litres. Six heifers broke the £2000 barrier, with all classes considerably dearer than the previous month. An overall average of £1640 for all heifers forward and £1580 for all cows.
