● Network= a means of exchanginginformation and data

● Lan= a private network, linking computers at a single location (files, software, printing can be linked)

● Internet= a global and public WAN (wide area network) network that can link millions of people

Each cord connects to a different internet “hub” around the

school. These blue cords are for the wireless

Servers can be an organizational nightmare…and they need to be kept at a particular temperature. If wired wrong they can be very expensive to fix.

Here is a smaller connection (satellite) in a classroom…• Each of these satellites can cover about 40

students in the adjacent classrooms.

Each school has an IP address• An IP address is like a mailing address for you computer. Each can be

traced and linked• The first 5 digits are our school district (area boxed)• The rest of the number allow us to know what computers are being used
