• The topic Lampshades was given by Sunil Sir to Research upon. So that we could know more about Lampshades more than we think we do.
• ITC:Home Ornaments(2014) shows different lampshades.
Lampshades
• A lampshade is a fixture that covers the lightbulb on a lamp to diffuse the light it emits. Conical, cylindrical and other forms on floor-, desk- or table top-mounted as well as suspended lamp models are the most common and are made in a wide range of materials. The term can also apply to the glass hung under many designs of ceiling lamp. Beyond its practical purpose, significant emphasis is also usually given to decorative and aesthetic features.
ITC : This was proposed by Onceler (2006)
• Lantern were needed because Candles give only a faint light, and must be protected from wind to prevent flickering or complete extinguishment A typical candle lantern is a metal box or cylinder with glass or mica side panels and an opening or ventilated cover on the top. A primitive form of candle lantern, made from white horn and wood and called a lanthorn, was first made in the time of the English king Alfred the Great (849–899) .

Gas Lanterns
• The flame fed by the gas coming out of the nozzle was intense, uniform
and adjustable, white and brilliant instead of the reddish or orange of oil lamps or candles.
• The drawbacks of gas lighting were overheating of the air and extremely high oxygen consumption, making it necessary to ventilate the room or isolate the flame by separating the room where the combustion took place from the room being lit. Theatre audiences regularly suffered from headaches and the sulphur and ammonia formed during combustion of the gas ruined furniture.
• Gas light had to be filtered by opal glass or light fabric shades. Lampshades were no longer used to direct the light but to attenuate it.

Limitation
• Not enough Practical Research could be done because of shortage of time.
Conclusion
Lampshades are of Different types and are made of Metals, Paper Bamboo(Silk and Skin In earlier times) etc,But the most famous And the one which is used most often in today’s world is the electric lampshade. Kerosene Lampshades are also used but because of the
Exhaustibility and of fuels it cannot be used anymore.
