GIVING BACK
As we enter the month of December, we are reminded of how lucky we are to have a faculty, staff and students that consistently
give back to their school and community. Over the course of the year, it is hard to even quantify the hours devoted to organizations close to our heart. We are blessed to live a community that supports our
efforts and for that, we say thank you.

Great Things Going On At East!
HAWKS DRIVE TO STAY ALIVE
Special thanks to Senior Sarah Strack and her Mom, Kathy Strack for
an oustanding Distracted Driving week at Lakota East. Sarah
organized activities for the entire week focused on keeping our
Thunderhawks safe! The most powerful moments of the week were
during the student/parent presentations when Sarah and Kathy shared
their personal story regarding the loss of Sarah's Uncle and Kathy's
Brother to a automobile accident caused by a distracted driver. Our
Students in Glenn Terndrup's Science Classes recently conducted a
breeding experiment to sort fruit flies. Included are pictures of some
mutant white-eyed flies.
EAST PARTICIPATES IN WOMEN IN IT CONFERENCE
Lakota East Computer Science students recently attended the Women
in IT Conference at Xavier University. At the conference the students
had the opportunity to experience presentations by the CEO
of Cintrifuse and the Special Agent in Charge of the FBI's Cincinnati
division. Both presenters are women that have built an impressive
resume in Information Technology. The students were given much to
think about for their own future in IT.
COOKIES WITH SANTA
Our outstanding art students recently volunteered to help face paint at
the local Cookies with Santa Event. Thanks to our students for helping
to brighten the day for these local kids
NO SHAVE NOVEMBER
During the month of November staff members across the 10 schools in
the GMC participated in a fundraising effort to support men's health.
Staff members pledged money and male staff members left their razors
behind to support this great cause! This year's event was particularly
meaningful as it was in memory of Colerain Assistant Principal, Joe
Bertram, who passed away in October at the age of 32. The over
$1000 raised by the staff at Lakota East will be donated to a college
fund for Joe's young children.
