DONALD W . LIEFFRING Donald W. Lieffring, 84, Two Harbors, died Sunday, November 4, 2019 in St. Luke's Hospital. Don was born Feb- ruary 24, 1935 to Laurence and Ethel (Schafer) Lieffring in Elmwood, Wisconsin. His first years were spent on a farm in Eau Galle, Wi until the family moved to Cumberland, Wi where he graduated from high school. He first met Marlene Hill at a dance in Indian Creek. They were married October 1,1955 in Cumberland, Wi and en- joyed a reception and wedding dance at the hall in Indian Creek. Don and Marlene made their first home in Aurora, MN where Don worked on the construction of the taconite plant. Finishing the job there, Don moved the family to Superior and went to work on the Blatnik Bridge between Duluth and Su- perior. In 1960 the family moved to Two Har- bors, and Don went to work as a millwright for the taconite plant in Silver Bay. Don then joined Carpenters-Millwrights Local #361 in Duluth and worked several construction jobs in many locations including Rhinelander, Stevens Point, Park Falls, WI, and Rockford, IL. Wanting to work closer to home he be- gan working for Duluth Superior Erection Company in 1973 until his retirement in 1998. Don was a member of Holy Spirit Catho- lic Church. He golfed with North Lakes Golf Association and enjoyed world traveling, scuba diving, fishing, hunting and playing cribbage. Don was preceded in death by his parents and grandchildren, Evelyn and Alex Lieffring and Nathan Miller. He is survived by his wife, Marlene; a daughter, Jeanne (Edward) Miller of Cam- bridge; sons, Jerry (Leesa) of Duluth, Tony (Liz) of Two Harbors and Dan (Cindy) of Coon Rapids; grandchildren, Sara, Miranda, Laura, Sheri, Staci, Anna and James; 9 great- grandchildren; brothers and sisters, Alfred Lieffring, Irene Rydberg, Rosemary Benson, Joseph (Judy) Lieffring, Lucy (Carl) Axness; and many nieces and nephews. Visitation will be from 10 AM until the 11 AM Mass of Christian Burial on Friday, No- vember 8, 2019 at Holy Spirit Catholic Church in Two Harbors. Burial will be in Lakeview Cemetery.
