Symbols are used in science labs, too. They are used to caution us against accidents and harm. These symbols need to be simple so that we can understand their meanings in a split second.

Safety goggles: always wear safety goggles to protect your eyes in activities involving chemicals, flames, heating, or

with the possibility of broken glass

Flames - during lab, you may be working with flames from a candle, burner, or

match. Tie back loose hair and clothing.

No flames- flammable materials may be present. Make sure there are not flames or

sparks present.

Disposal - chemicals and other lab materials used in activity must be disposed of safely. Follow teacher

instructions.
