Goggles must be worn at all times during lab NO – eye glasses do not count

Basic Lab Procedures

Always read ALL of your lab procedures before beginning

Inform your teacher of ANY and ALL accidents

ALWAYS perform the experiment as instructed

Never leave an experiment in progress

Never taste or directly smell anything in lab unless instructed to do so

Keep your work station clear

DO NOT leave lit bunsen burners unattended

Do not catch falling objects

NEVER point the open end of a test tube at yourself or anyone else

Basic Lab ProceduresBe careful handling hot glassware

Turn off all heating apparatus when not in use

Do not remove any lab supplies from the room

Keep your lab station free of clutter

Never pour water into acids – pour acid into water

Always ask before disposing of chemicals – not all can be washed down the drain

Broken glassware goes in the proper container – NOT the trash can
