Future plan of Energy Efficiency andConservation in the Cement factory
• Raising awareness of Energy Efficiency andConservation to all employees;
• Enhancing efficiency on machine and equipmentmaintenance to avoid the unscheduledshutdown;
• Keeping or increasing the productivities (quantityand quality )
• Establishment of Energy Efficiency andConservation Committee to monitor the energyconsumption and energy saving in the factory

PrePre--audit coordinationaudit coordination• Contacting the two Vangvieng Cement
factories that proposed to be audited andasking them to fill up questionnaires fordiscussion during our visit.
• Organising a small team to join the on-the-jobtraining on energy audit in the factory;
• Arranging a seminar on Promotion of EnergyEfficiency and Conservation in Industry inSoutheast Asia on 6 October 2006 includinginvitation of 80 participants.

1)Conversion of fuel frompetroleum to coal2)Conversion of SP to NSP3)Conversion of planetarycooler to grate cooler
1)Conversion from wetprocess to dry process2)Replacement of ball or tubemill by vertical roller mill3)Pneumatic transfer of rawmaterial to mechanicaltransfer
Third step
1)Installation ofclosed circuit mill(separator)2)Installation of feedcontrol system
1)Use of industrial waste(waste tire, etc)2)Heat recovery of pre-heaterexhaust gas and coolerexhaust gas (drying of rawmaterial and generation ofelectricity)3)Replacement of cooler dustcollection from multiclone toEP
1)Replacement of fan rotor2)Improvement oftemperature and pressurecontrol system3)Improvement of mixing &homogenization system4)Installation of closed circuitmill (separator)
Secondstep
1) Management ofparticle fineness2) Management ofgrinding media

Addition of Grinding Balls
Monitor raw mill SEC daily and add grinding balls in right timing
→ 10% energy saving expected
Ball diameter shrinks astime passes due toerosive effect. This leadsto gradual increase ofraw mill SEC.
Filling level of grindingballs is also important in
grinding efficiency.Optimum level of fillingshould be maintained.
SEC should bemonitored daily, andwhen SEC arrives atcertain level, grindingballs is compensated.
