WHAT ARE GMOs?GMOs or “genetically modified organisms” are plants or animals created through the gene splicing techniques of biotechnology (also called genetic engineering or GE). This experimental technology mixes together DNA from different species, creating unstable combinations of plant, animal, bacterialand viral genes that cannot occur in Nature or through traditional farming

ARE GMOs SAFE ARE GMOs SAFE TO EAT?Most developed countries in the world do not consider GMOs to be saMost developed countries in the world do not consider GMOs to be safe. In nearly 50 countries around the world, Including Australia, Japan, and all of the countries In the European Union, there are restrictions or outright bans on the production and sale of GMOs, and require those foods that have GMO ingredients to be labeled. Here in the United States, over 80% of processed foods like chips, fast-foods, candy and sodas have GMOs in them, and there is NO consumer labeling!

WHAT DO GMOs DO WHAT DO GMOs DO TO THE ENVIRONMENT?Most GMOs grown worldwide are engineered for herbicide tolerance. Because of this, use of toxic herbicides has increased over 15 times since GMOs were introduced. GMO crops also make "super weeds" and "super bugs” which can only be killed with even stronger poisons.

HOW DO GMOs AFFECT THE FUTURE OF FOOD?No one knows exactly how GMOs change plants and animals in the natural world, No one knows exactly how GMOs change plants and animals in the natural world, so the future impacts of GMOs are unknown: once released into the environment the changes they make cannot be stopped or reversed! Crops that people grow for food can be contaminated by GMOs that drift onto their fields, even when the farmer did not plant GMOs. Nobody knows the long-term risks of using GMOs. Using GMOs without studying them more is a risky thing to do.

SAY NO SAY NO TO GMOs!
