LA County District Attorney's Office Notice of Discharge to Steve Ipsen

On July 20, 2012, Steve Ipsen, former candidate for Los Angeles County District Attorney and past President of the Association of Deputy District Attorneys, was served with this Notice of Discharge. The 16 page letter documents the findings of a year-long investigation into Ipsen's conduct, finding that he had engaged in 'improper and egregious conduct as a Deputy District Attorney (DDA), including but not limited to: (1) abusing your position as a DDA to further your political agenda through your so-called "Reform First" policy; (2) misrepresenting to the Court that this was an official policy of the District Attorney's Office (DAO) when, in truth and fact , that was not the case; and (3) boasting in a public forum that you act "in violation of the policy of the District Attorney of Los Angeles" on a daily basis.
Ipsen has challenged his dismissal as retaliation for his union activities in proceedings he has instituted at the Employee Relations Commission (ERCOM) the source of this document, which is a matter of public record obtained pursuant to a Public Records Act request.
