Bonfire of San Juan• Bonfires of San Juan in A Coruña.• Today, the Bonfires of San Juan in La Coruña, is a tradition in which the

whole city participates, there are bonfires all over and come to gather on the beaches of Riazor and Orzán more than a hundred thousand people every “Noite da Queima”.

• At twelve o'clock. Thousands of people crowd the Riazor beach. The fire of dozens of small fires is projected, illuminating the solstice night, giving it an almost ghostly magical aspect. A firework shell fired from the Rotunda, gala dress multicolor sky summer brand new coruñés.

THE VIRGIN OF THE CARMEN• It is a religious party. All July 16 sailors of the village take the

Virgin in a big boat. She is the saint of sailors, she cares for them when they go to sea. The Virgin is carried in the boat across the bay and is followed by numerous boats . After the procession, a Mass was celebrated in honor of those who died at sea. Many flowers are thrown to the sea.

Carnival• Carnival is a celebration that takes place immediately

before the start of the Christian Lent, which begins in turn with Ash Wednesday, which has a variable date (between February and March depending on the year). Carnival combines some elements such as costumes, parades and street parties.

Cuisine• The cuisine is varied and special. the typical meals of

our place, is the pulpo (octopus), "cocido" ( in carnival) which is composed of: beans,"grelos", head, leg and tail pork, boiled potatoes, ham, and "chorizo". For dessert at that time we have pancakes and ears. In San Juan is typical dinner grilled sardines on your own fire.

• R.C. Deportivo is the team of the city. They play in the league of 1ª Division.

Monuments• Torre de HerculesIt’s a tower. It’s lighthouse situated on a hill on the peninsula of the city of La Coruña. Its total height is 57 meters, and dates from the first century have the privilege of being the only Roman lighthouse and the oldest in operation in the world. It is the third lighthouse in height Spain.
