From Fabric H (CWEA 200 LS), cut:• (3) 3 1/2˝ x 42˝ strips; cut into (48) 2˝ x 3 1/2˝

Center Block Assembly1. On the fabric A square, measure 7 1/2˝ from the left edge and draw a line. Measure 7 1/2˝ from the right edge and draw a line. Measure 4 1/2˝ from the top edge; draw a line. Measure 4 1/2˝ from the bottom edge; draw a line. Cut the square apart on the drawn lines.

2. To make the top row, join the fabric A rectangles and two fabric G 1 1/2˝ x 4 1/2˝ rectangles as shown. Repeat to make the bottom row. To make the center row, join the fabric A rectangles and the fabric G 1 1/2˝ x 15 1/2˝ rectangles.

3. Join the rows from step 2 and two fabric G 1 1/2˝ x 25 1/2˝ strips to make a block.

4. Sew fabric G 1 1/2˝ x 25 1/2˝ strips to opposite sides of the block. Then sew fabric G 1 1/2˝ x 27 1/2˝ strips to the top and bottom edges to complete the center block.

Star Block Assembly5. Draw a diagonal line from corner to corner on the wrong side of each fabric I square. Place a marked square on one end of a fabric H rectangle, right sides together. Sew along the line and trim the excess fabric, leaving a 1/4˝ seam allowance. Press the resulting triangle open. Place a marked fabric I square on the other end of the rectangle. Sew, trim, and press to make a flying-geese unit. Make a total of 48.

6. Lay out four flying-geese units, four fabric H squares, and one fabric E square in three rows as shown. Join the pieces into rows. Join the rows to complete a Star block. Make a total of 12 blocks.

Quilt AssemblyRefer to the quilt photo and quilt layout diagram for placement guidance throughout.7. Sew fabric F 27 1/2˝-long strips to opposite sides of the center block. Sew fabric F 30 1/2˝-long strips to the top and bottom of the block to complete border two.8. Join two Star blocks, two fabric B squares, and one fabric D square as shown in the quilt layout diagram to make a border strip. Make two border strips and sew them to opposite sides of the quilt top.9. Join four Star blocks, two fabric B squares, and one fabric D square as shown in the quilt layout diagram to make the top border strip. Repeat to make the bottom border strip. Sew these strips to the top and bottom of the quilt top.10. Sew fabric F 42 1/2˝-long strips to opposite sides of the quilt top. Sew fabric F 45 1/2˝-long strips to the top and bottom of the quilt top to complete border four.11. Sew fabric G 45 1/2˝-long strips to opposite sides of the quilt top. Sew fabric F 47 1/2˝-long strips to the top and bottom of the quilt top to complete border four.12. Sew fabric C 47 1/2˝-long strips to opposite sides of the quilt top. Sew fabric C 57 1/2˝-long strips to the top and bottom of the quilt top to complete the outer border.13. Layer the quilt top with batting and backing; baste. Quilt as desired. Using the fabric I 2 1/4˝-wide binding strips, bind the edges to finish.
