During the 1600s, European surveyors and cartographers began mapping the shorelines and forests of Cape Cod. And Thomas Jefferson instituted the US Coastal Survey in the early 19th century. Today we combine their early methods with GPS and satellite imagery. The Cape Cod National Seashore uses maps and scientific monitoring to track trends in all our precious resources and maintains access to all the benefits that nature provides. The story of this peninsula unfolds through maps that suggest what we might expect for the future, in our lifetimes and in the next generation. He is also a painter and writer who lives in Truro. RSVP at the Concierge Desk. THE PROVINCETOWN PRINT: WILLIAM EVAUL Monday, July 18, 4pm, Hatches Harbor Room A Provincetown artist since 1970, William Evaul is well-known as an expert on the Provincetown Print. Besides those white-line woodblock prints, he creates oil paintings, drawings, watercolors and monotypes and mono- prints. His vibrant color palette and expressionism combine to produce vivid images of musicians, New York skylines, nudes, still lifes and a lively fauvist/cubist series called “Dancing Houses.” As an educator, curator and art consultant in the field of 20th Century Art, Evaul presents slide lectures on Provincetown Art History, and this one includes some of his own slides, and some actual prints. Hello! In June, we enjoyed a won-derful, albeit short, visit from Congressman Keating and Sarah Peake who were in Provincetown and toured Seashore Point! Having their continued support has meant so much, and it was a back-to-back visit from Sarah Peake who had also been here for the COA Senior of the Year luncheon! In July, we will take a break from our monthly brunch, as we near the peak of the busy season, and I will be away at a conference the week of July 10. Wishing you a safe and happy 4th! —Joanna
