I would like to thank Master of Ceremonies Cathy Rybczynski, for all the effort put into this wonderful program honoring Veterans from Posts around the Hamburg area. Everyone had a fine time. The Rotary Club had a 50/50 drawing and an Auction. Dinner was prepared and served by Kala Catering. Thank you everyone for the support of this event.

The departed comrades were remembered with a moment of silence and a rifle salute and Taps was then played. The opening prayer was given by Chaplain Joe Tyloch, followed by the POW-MIA reading by PCTom McMasters.
Veteran’s Day speeches were given by various local officials and afterwards Commander Chapman thanked everyone for sharing this Veteran’s Day. Benedic-tion was given by Chaplain Joe Tyloch. The colors were retrieved and this years ceremony ended with everyone singing God Bless America. A light lunch prepared and served by the Auxiliary was enjoyed by all.
From the Post Commander…As we the Legion family bid farewell to the year 2017, I would like to extend my heartfelt thank you to everyone in the legion family for the time and effort you have dedicated to the Post this past year.
The Post Christmas dinner was attended by approximately 60 people. Everyone had an enjoyable evening drinking, dining and dancing. The DJ did a super job in mixing up a variety of music. He even got out on the dance floor and led a group of dancers to the electric slide. Thanks to John Grotke for stepping up to be chairman of this event.
65 children visited Santa at our children’s Christmas party and we were treated to face painting, a balloon making clown and of course a gift from Santa Claus himself. Chairman Chris Hogan and his sidekick John Grotke
put together 2 hours of fun for the children. Again, this year, special thanks to the Corbran’s Jerri and Joe for getting us a 40% discount at Fisher-Price. And of course, all the children who attended made this party so worthwhile.
Donna Moran continues to do a super job in securing hall rentals bringing in much appreciated funds to the Post.
At our November meeting the Post Finance Committee was charged with responsibility of estab-lishing and implementing new bar prices. A recommended price list was given to Finance Chairman Kim Moran for the committee to review. After thoughtful consideration the committee felt the recommended increases were too extreme. As of January 2, 2018, beer, wine and liquor prices will increase by $0.25. Snack prices will stay the same. The new prices will be posted by the bar. With that said I would like to thank Finance Officer Kim Moran for his comprehensive monthly reports that he distributes at the meetings.
Speaking of money, a big thank you to all bartenders for a great job selling the Bell jar tickets, and to the Ticket Committee for counting, logging and depositing the Bell jar receipts. But the biggest thank you goes to all our Bell jar ticket players for your continued support of the Post.
Again, thank you for your support to the Post and may you have a prosperous 2018.

Adult Christmas PartyBy PC Paul Steward At the December 8 Adult Christmas Party at Post 527 an unbelievably great time was had by all. Food was good and the DJs music was exceptional. If you didn’t make this party, hopefully we will see you next time.
Needy BasketsBy Chaplain Joe Tyloch I’m honored and privileged to serve as your Chaplain and I believe that the preparation of the Needy Baskets at Christmas time was a success. This year we distributed thirty (30) baskets through three (3) Churches in the Hamburg area. Those churches were St. Matthew’s United Church, Connect Church of WNY (formerly the Assembly of God), and Union Presbyterian Church, Blasdell. I’m like most of you…we love to help people who need help. Our thanks go out to the individuals that assisted in assem-bling and delivering the baskets just before Christmas Day. God knows who you are and will bless you and your families. My appreciation also goes out to Office Max, who contributed all the boxes and to the three churches that designated the needy families. I know those families were blessed by receiv-ing those baskets, as much as we were in preparing them. And lest we forget the most important part of all, the donated turkeys and non-perishable food items. They came from you, our Post members. Thanks for a job well done.
