KWP-S(tandard) washing press Washing and separation of organic material out of rough and fine screenings filtering KWP-S(tandard) washing press Washing and separation of organic material out of rough and fine screenings filtering KUHN KWP-S(tandard) washing press The Standard-washing press is used as an addition to further treat and dewater organic matter after the pre-separation of screenings. The washed waste material is then compressed and removed. The benefits of this devise have been proven in local and industrial wastewater treat-ment appli- cations and in Biomass and waste processing. How it works The KUHN KWP-S washing press is most commonly supplied with material after rakes separate the screenings from the flow, and screws or belt conveyors trans- port the waste material directly to the KWP-S. Another common way to supply the KWP-S is to use sloped open channels for material transport. The size of the KWP-S receiving tray is properly sized based on the needed capacity. An extremely strong screw with 20-30 mm thick steel blades pushes the material into the washing zone where forward and back- ward movement loosens the material and allows for the material to be thoroughly rinsed. The washed waste material is then compressed in a second stage screw, and therefore excess water is removed. A chromium coating on the compressing stage of the screw allows for extremely high compression of the material while maintaining its performance with minimal wear. After the material is compressed, the moist waste product is transported through piping, attached to the end of the compression stage, to storage containers. The length of the piping for the compressed waste material is recom- mended to be between 6 and 10 meters. As a washing fluid we recommend cold pre-filtered water. For an industrial setting, warm pre-filtered water with addition of a degreaser is recommended. The washing fluid consumption depends on the size of the machine and the desired level of washing. Covers for minimizing odors and serving as a hygienic barrier are also available. Performance and Execution The KUHN KWP-S washing press consists of a sequence of essential components including the receiving tray, the single unit screw for washing and an attached screw for compression, the enclosed washing and compression zones, a bearing housing, a geared motor, and a screen for the water to drain out of the washing and compres- sion zones into a sloped drainage pan. The bearing housing is located between the motor and the main machine housing. It includes thrust and ball bearings, and the entire bearing housing is using a special seal to remain watertight. The standard model of the KUHN KWP-S washing press has the following features: • Multiple functions: washing, compression and dewatering, and transportation • Washing potential up to 95 % • Dewatering up to 50 % (depending on the screenings) • Standard washing system with solenoid valves • Chromium coatings for wear protection • Ingenious bearing system • Removable inspection cover in compression zone • Powerful and robust design • Easily removable drainage pan Multiple functions: washing, compression and dewatering, and transportation • Washing potential up to 95 % Dewatering up to 50 % (depending on the screenings) • Standard washing system with solenoid valves Chromium coatings for wear protection • Ingenious bearing system
