KWP-P(remium) washing press High tech for washing and separation of organic material out of rough and fine screenings filtering KWP-P(remium) washing press High tech for washing and separation of organic material out of rough and fine screenings filtering KUHN KWP-P(remium) washing press The Premium-washing press is used as an addition to further treat and dewater organic matter after the pre-separation of screenings. The washed waste material is then compressed and removed. The benefits of this devise have been proven in local and industrial wastewater treat- ment applications and in Biomass and waste processing. How it works The KUHN KWP-P washing press is most commonly supplied with material after rakes separate the screening from the flow, and screws or belt conveyors transport the waste material directly to the KWP-P. Another common way to supply the KWP-P is to use sloped open channels for material transport. The size of the KWP-P receiving tray is properly sized based on the needed capacity. An extremely strong hollow screw conveyor with 20-30 mm thick steel blades pushes the material into the washing zone where forward and backward movement loosens the material and allows for the material to be thoroughly rinsed. Rinsing fluid is forced through the hollow screw and injected into the waste material within the rinsing zone. Due to this radial injection, the separation of the organic matter is enhanced and additional over- head jets further optimized the rinsing. The washed waste material is then compressed in a second stage screw, and therefore excess water is removed. A chromium coating on the compressing stage of the screw allows for extremely high compression of the material while maintaining its performance with minimal wear. After the material is compressed, the moist waste product is trans- ported through piping, attached to the end of the compression stage, to storage containers. The length of the piping for the compressed waste material is recommended to be between 6 and 10 meters. The KUHN washing press KWP-P is fitted with a very robust separa- tion screen over its entire length along the bottom of the screw. This allows for excellent drainage of the washing fluid from the press, and in addition with a sloped drainage pan underneath the device, the drainage performance is outstanding. Due to the low maintenance required and minimal wear of the machine, the KWP-P has become a consumer favorite. As a washing fluid we recommend cold pre-filtered water. For an industrial setting, warm pre-filtered water with addition of a degreaser is recommended. The washing fluid consumption depends on the size of the machine and the desired level of washing. Covers for minimizing odors and serving as a hygienic barrier are also available. Performance and Execution The KUHN KWP-P washing press consists of a sequence of essential components including the receiving tray, the single unit hollow screw for washing and an attached screw for compression, the enclosed washing and compression zones, a bearing housing, a geared motor, and a screen for the water to drain out of the washing and compres- sion zones into a sloped drainage pan. The bearing housing is located between the motor and the main machine housing. It includes thrust and ball bearings, and the entire bearing housing is using a special seal to remain watertight. The premium model of the KUHN KWP-P washing press has the following outstanding features: • Multiple functions: washing, compression and dewatering, and transportation • Washing potential up to 95% • Dewatering up to 50% (depending on screenings) • Extravagant wash system due to the hollow core screw - Chromium coatings for wear protection - Very large drainage area due to the special separation screen along the bottom of the machine (ideal for open channel feeding system). • Ingenious bearing system • Removable inspection cover in compression zone • Powerful and robust design • Easily removable drainage pan Multiple functions: washing, compression and dewatering, and transportation • Washing potential up to 95% Dewatering up to 50% (depending on screenings) • Extravagant wash system due to the hollow core screw Chromium coatings for wear protection • Ingenious bearing system Section A-A throughthe washing zone
