Kuta is nestled betweenJl. Bakungsari to thesouth and Jl. Melasti tothe north.

Kuta is the best known of allthe villages in Bali, often maligned, but loved by many. Kuta gets its socalled bad reputation from the early

days of travel to Bali whereeverybody, particularly the youngcrowd, hung out and got wrecked.Footpaths didn't exist, open drainsran down the side of unmaderoads. Shopping was sarongs andT-shirts and hawkers who sold justabout anything.

Times have changed andKuta has grown up, gone are theunmade roads and open drains.Footpaths, although narrow, runboth sides of the main streets. Thehawkers are still there - part of thecharacter of the place.

Sarongs and T-shirts are stillsold but now there are CD shops, boutiques, small trendy bars andrestaurants and even DepartmentStores. Kuta boasts the world's first"themed" Hard Rock Hotel.

Imagine going into a hugeone level shopping centre thatwould take about 45 minutes towalk from one end to the other withsmall walkways branching off inevery direction, now add cars, motorbikes and the odd templeceremony. This is what the middleof Kuta is like except it doesn't havea roof. Just find a small caf(Warung), sit back and watch, it'sgreat!

The hawkers in Kuta can beaggressive, but if you don't want tobuy - don't make eye contact. Don'tsay anything and there willgenerally be no problems.

The beach at Kuta is wideand usually has good surf in thelate afternoon. Kuta beach isn'treally a place to sit if you don't likecrowds.

In keeping with the Kutatheme, it is more of a socialoccasion, where you meet thelocals and other tourists and youdon't have to move for anything -the hawkers will bring it to you.Late afternoon is best about 3 -4pm, sunsets, soccer games, and just a great place for a walk.

If being involved andhaving everything close by; if youwant to party or just shop, Kuta isthe place. Even if you don't staythere, don't go home withoutvisiting Kuta at least once, maybe twice... three times?

    Kuta Weekly News Corner9 Aug - 15 Aug 2012 (297)

day again punters and lets jump straight into another week inparadise. The jungle drums have been beating with some real forceGover the last few weeks, and as some would say, the jungle is a

dangerous place to be. I find the jungle about as much stress as a walk inthe park. I say if you can't handle the heat, then get out of the junglekitchen. Of course as the most of you know the messages these drumssend out, are usually based on 1% truth and about 99% rubbish, but you

have to ask yourself, how does a story get started to the point where it iseither denied or confirmed by the snakes that crawl on the jungle floor. My take is, people and their bigmouths usually make things up and spread terrible little stories that can, if left to grow, completely destroy aperson's credibility and well being in Bali. So in summary, if you don't know what you're talking about, keepyour big mouth shut, or your gonna have all manner of trouble fall on you at some point via our best friendKarma. Tis a horrid thing that Karma, and funny how so many people believe in it. Can't say too much till Ihear the facts, so my loyal readers, I will keep you posted as the drums become a little clearer and thisdevelops. Anyways moving along,

Another really good weekend just gone in the A.F.L, and seeing I don't want to disappoint any of our loyaland avid readers, especially The Ferret, I see the Hawks had a win taken from them at the post, right on thesiren last Friday night. I thought it was in the bag, but, alas it was not to be with Geelong getting that last kickright in front of the goals. It's almost like they have some kryptonite over the Hawks as that win brings it toabout 9 in a row against them. The Eagles had a surprising loss to the Dockers in the derby in Perth, whichagain was a surprise, so a big congrats goes out to all the Freo supporters. The Saints, or should I say the aints, due to a very close game, against the one and only Mighty Collingwood Magpies, will now join Richmond intheir preparations for the 2013 A.F.L season. Goodbye lads. Port Adelaide had a loss to Greater WesternSydney causing the sacking of the current coach after a basic smashing, and saw Kevin Sheedy serve his

th1000 game as a player or a coach, which is certainly to be congratulated. In all the whole weekend was not agood run for the favourites at all, but was a great weekend of footy none the less.

Ok folks lastly this week at the Kuta Weekly, Bali's Premier Weekly Newspaper We did get a new advert, which is on page eight, and is sponsored by the famous Moo Moos Steakhouse Bar and Grill. Not only dothey serve some of the best steaks and food in Kuta, but, it seems the boss there has decided Melasti streetneeds a little more action every Saturday night, and has engaged one of Balis hottest DJs, Patrick. Beingfrom Holland he knows how to spin up a storm and keep the party rolling all night long. Running with a mixof favourites from the 50s to the early 90s along with music videos on the massive in house 200 inch screen,id say it will be a great place take a group and dine and dance. They have some great discounts on Bali Mooncocktails and at 9pm will have the cocktail fire show dancers hitting the stage. I hope to see as many readersthere as possible.

Ok people it seems I am at the bottom of the page andthe ramble is about done for yet another week. We areabout to hit a milestone in the office with our

thupcoming 300 edition of the rag, and are all veryproud to be at that stage. We thank all our supporters, both past and present for making it happen. I hope themost of you stay safe, happy, healthy and alwaysremember, Aging is inevitable, maturing is optional.

    Enjoy your week,ALIASJ...

    SEMINYAKWorld renowned for its

s tunning sunsets , bars &restaurants that offer some of thefinest dinning in Asia along with itschic and stylish fashion boutiques,Seminyak has now proved itself asthe most popular destination forboth high net investors, seekingfantastic returns and tourists alike.

No matter where you are inSeminyak, you are only minutesfrom the beaches! The area notonly offers all the buzz andexcitement required to enhanceyour holiday experience, but alsop r o v i d e s i n v e s t o r s w i t hopportunity to benefit from thehighest rental yield that the islandhas to offer.

    CANGGUUntil recently, perceived

as something of a hippy hideaway, the attraction and popularity of

Canggu has caught the notice of bothmainstream buyers and investorsalike. As prices in trendy Seminyakarea continue to shoot sky high, alarge number of buyers are nowopting for the more sedate pace ofexpat country lifestyle.

The area not only offers all thefirst class amenities you would expectlike an international school, worldclass championship golf course andan extremely well healed memberonly country club but also boast bars, restaurants and beaches that wehave come to adore here on Theisland of the Gods with very largeplots, superbly designed villas veryclose, if not on the beach, at far morereasonable prices, The Canggu areais fast becomingthe epitome of a lifestyle purchasersdream.

    SANURSanur retains the charm of

typical Balinese village whilst atthe same t ime at t rac t ingi n t e r n a t i o n a l h o t e l s a n ddevelopments. Up until the timewhen Nusa Dua was designatedas the Tourist Hot Spot, Sanurwas the place to be. In theseventies, boutique hotels inSanur such as Tanjung Sari, played regular host to star such asMick Jagger and David Bowie.

Since the real estate boomstarted here on the island, Sanurhas somehow been left behind inthe comparison to others areassuch as Seminyak and Nusa Dua.This however is most definitely nota negative, as Sanur still holds trueBalinese charm that other areasmay have to certain degree lost.Whilst sandy beaches, lazy beachcafes and restaurants offer a veryrelaxing lifestyle with great familiesfacilities and international schoolsall nearby.

    The robot can bep i lo ted d i rec t ly , o r

    NUSA DUAMiles of blindingly white

sandy beaches, protected by a reefenclosing aquamarine lagoons, it wasno surprise that when it was decidedto create a tourist enclave in Bali ,Nusa Dua was first choice.

No more than 20 minutesfrom the international airport, theworlds five star resorts cosy up next toeach other giving first time visitors andunforgettable introduction to theworld's most popular holiday island.

    With the same 5 star globalhousehold names offering attractiveownership opportunities, the potentialc l i e n t n e t h a s b r o a d e n e dconsiderably. The area is ideal for

people l iving nearby such asSingapore or Hong Kong, who areable to jet in for a long weekend, yetstill wanting to take full advantage ofthe high end service the island hasbecome famous for.

THE BUKITMuch has been written about

this dusty, arid and rugged area, which forms the southern most tip ofthe island.

Limestone cliffs of up to 100

meters in heightprovide some of the best views in theworld, along with some desertedwhite sandy beaches.

Everyone wants a piece ofthis are, from international hotelchains such as Bvlgari, Versace andBanyan Tree, to establ ishedresidential villa developers lookingfor that perfect plot. The area offerssecluded beaches, and exclusivity toname but a few reasons why this isfast becoming the place to be.Prices have more than tripled in thearea over last 2 years alone with stillplenty of potential to be realized, sonow is a plan. Only a short 15minutes drive from the international

airport, The Bukit is fast beingreferred to as the new MillionairesRow.

JIMBARANJimbaran is just south of the

airport and Kuta. This was formerly areal backwater of south Bali, just atiny fishing village with a dailymarket. That all started to change inthe 1980s and Jimbaran is now hometo several world class 5 star beachresorts, plus a few more moderate

mid-market hotels. There is however little in the

way of budget accommodation andthere are also many high-end villas inthis area, particularly on the ridges ofhigh ground above Jimbaran Bay.This has resulted in monikers such asthe "Beverly Hills of Bali" or"Millionaire's Row".

The bay itself has a pleasantwhite sand beach and is very safe forswimming. The three clusters ofgrilled seafood restaurants on thebeach are a major tourist draw in theevenings, as is the truly stunningsunset.

    138 skydivers break world recordFalling at speeds of up to 355kilometres an hour, nearly 140skydivers have shattered thevertical skydiving worldrecord, flying heads-down ina m a s s i v e s n o w f l a k eformation over Illinois.

    Three judges representingthe Federation AeronautiqueI n t e r n a t i o n a le ( F A I ) , t h einternational air sports agency,certified that 138 skydivers createdthe formation on Friday eveningover Ottawa, about 130kms o u t h w e s t o fChicago. It took 15attempts over threedays for the team tobreak the previousr e c o r d o f 1 0 8skydivers set in2009.

    S k y d i v e r stravelled from all

    over the world totake part in therecord a t tempt ,i n c l u d i n g f r o mAustra l ia. Otherf e a t u r e dn a t i o n a l i t i e sincluded the UK, France, Spain,Norway, Sweden, Switzerland,Ukraine, Russia, Italy and Belgium.

'I feel amazing,' RookNelson, an organiser and theowner of Skydive Chicago wherethe record was broken, said shortlyafter he made the jump. 'There wasa lot of emotion and a lot of dayswhere we should have got it. But

    we dug down deep and stuck at it.'F o l l o w in g mo n t h s o f

planning, tryouts and camps todecide who could take part in thedangerous challenge, the recordbreakers squeezed into six aircraftand launched themselves into theair at 5640 metres. Flying at such ahigh altitude presents a risk ofaltitude sickness, so the skydiversand pilots used oxygen tanksaboard the planes.

Four camera operatorsshooting video and stills jumpedwith the 138 participants to recordtheir achievement for the FAI

judges. Those images are key, saidco-organiser Mike Swanson, aprofessional skydiver who base

jumped from Willis Tower and itsfellow Chicago skyscraper TrumpTower for the movie Transformers3.

If no-one records the 46m-wide formation showing all the

jumpers in their pre-assigned slots,'then it wasn't really done',

Swanson said. The challenge for the record

began on Wednesday, midwaythrough a 10-day skydiving festival. After each attempt, the organisersreviewed the videos and decidedwho should stay and who should beswapped out for one of the dozensof hopefuls who didn't make theinitial cut.

'It's a hard job coming in from

the bench,' said Erica Tadokoro, anAustralian from Brisbane. 'Youhave to be positive because it's ateam effort.'

Tadokoro, 43, was one of just13 women selected in the firststring. She was cut after the 14thunsuccessful attempt - one shy ofthe record jump.

Nelson expla ined thatvertical flying is 'basically doing aheadstand' in the air. The lack of

wind resistance speedsthe skydivers' fall rate to anaverage of 275km/h to 290km/h.Ahead of the record attempt, hesaid some of those involvedwould need to reach muchhigher speeds. And that

increased the risks. If they're not payingattention when diving into theformat ion at upwards of355km/h, 'it's going to be likesomeone running a red light andyou taking them out', Nelsonsaid.

    E a c hskydiver knewexactly when toexit the aircraft,whom to followand where in theformation theyshould be. At2 1 3 5 m , t h e

    skydivers beganto peel away on alast-in, first-outbasis, and eachwave deployedtheir parachutesa t a l t i t u d e s

specified according to theirpositions in the formation.

'We don't want everyone toopen their parachutes at thesame altitude because theneverybody lands at the sametime. We stack the sky vertically'to avoid collisions, Nelson said.

The American ParachuteAssociation says that of anestimated three million skydivesmade across the US in 2011, 21were fatal. And most skydivingaccidents happen under canopy.

Among the overseascontingent was 40-year-oldAhmed Sferi from Reunion whosaid he travelled for two daysfrom his tiny Indian Ocean islandhome to reach Chicago so hecould take part.

LebaranAt the end of the month of Ramadhan and itsspecial religious observance is the Eid holiday, called Idul Fitri or Lebaran in Indonesia on 19thAugust 2012.

In Indonesia, this is the time when Muslims visit

their family and friends to ask for forgiveness for anywrongs they have committed in the previous year. Theyexpress this wish in the phrase Mohon Maaf Lahir Batinwhich means "forgive me from the bottom of myheart/soul for my wrongdoings in the past year". Atraditional Arabic (Muslim) greeting for the Eidcelebrations is also commonly used in Indonesia "MinalAidin Wal Fa Idzin", which is expressed upon meetingfriends and family during the festive days. Traditionalfoods are consumed, family and friends gather to askforgiveness and exchange greetings, new clothing isworn, children receive gifts of money and visits are madeto recreational parks -- all to celebrate the successfulcompletion of the fasting month. On Java, prior to the startof the fasting month (but not during it), visits are made tothe graves of family ancestors (nyekar) to pay respects, clean the grave and leave flowers, causing major traffic

jams near all major cemeteries.Idul Fitri begins with mass prayer

gatherings early in the morning at mosques, open fields, parks and on major streets. It isan amazing sight to see rows of hundreds ofMuslim women all dressed in their mukena(white, head-to-toe prayer gowns) performingthe synchronized prayer ritual. Muslim mentend to wear sarong, traditional shirts and pecihats to Idul Fitri morning prayers. On the walkhome from the mass prayers, quick visits aremade to friends in the neighborhood to ask forforgiveness.

Following the morning prayers andneighborhood visits, visits are made to closefamily members around town. Familymembers go to their parents first and then to the mostsenior relative's house (oldest person in the family) toMohon Maaf ... with family members. Then dependin gon your age/status in the family, you visit aunts anduncles homes to do the same. At each house drinks and

cookies or snacks are served, and since it is very impol iteto refuse the food, by the end of the day you are so full youcan hardly move. These customs may entail several daysof visiting relatives and often there will be a gathering offamily members at the senior-most relative's house.

Employees may also visit the homes of their seniorbosses in the company or critical business colleaguesand government officials to "Mohon Maaf ... " after theirfamily visits are completed. In Jakarta, these customsentail days and days of visiting relatives and colleaguesresulting in a great time of family reunions and upset tonormal working/living schedules. Many people also takethe opportunity of the Lebaran holiday to visit recreational

parks. While gathering with family, it is customary for the

adults to give the young children some money ... they maymeet you at the door shaking their wallets! It is alsocustomary to distribute money to children in the poorneighborhoods around your home, Rp 1,000 (or more) per

child will bring huge smiles to their faces! In Jakarta neighborhoods there may also be

organized fun and games sponsored by local busi nesses... including climbing a greased pole to try to get to theprizes on the top called panjat pinang. A fun site to see!

Strongly held traditions to visit family at this timenecessitate the exodus of and estimated 7.13 million(2011 estimated figures) people from Jakarta alone, aswell as additional millions from other urban centers, torural villages and hometowns for the Lebaran holiday. Thelogistics of this exodus causes enormous headaches forthe government each year. During this period the streets inJakarta are nearly empty as the population decreasesdramatically. The hardships and inconveniences enduredby the travelers in overcrowded buses, trains and cars isunbelievable, yet they feel that this is a small price to pay tospend the holidays with their family and friends.

    T r a d i t i o n a l l yt h e s e u r b a ndwellers comebearing gifts ormoney earnedd u r i n g t h eprevious year fortheir family.

    There aretwo peaks to thisexodus whichc a u s e m a j o rl o g i s t i c a lnightmares ...the departureback to the home

village/town ... and then the return to the town ofresidence.

They often return from the exodus accompanied b yrelatives and friends looking for work in the cities,

furthering the pressures of urbanization. The governmentattempts to prevent the socially undesirable such asbeggars, vagrants and others from migrating to the cites, but the task is overwhelming.

During the weeks after Lebaran many groups holdhalal bilhalal gatherings where employees from acompany, friends, colleagues or members of anorganization gather to share a meal and ask each other'sforgiveness. Non-Muslims are often invited to participatein these festive gatherings also.

Tooth decay bigger issue than asthmacan be avoided," Dr Agapitos

said."It is important to brush twice a

"Flossing is just as importantas brushing and should be done

Dr Agapitos said a balanceddiet was crucial to maintaining goodoral health.

Tooth decay is an epidemic inAustralia and more than 30per cent of people only brushtheir teeth once a day, according to the AustralianDental Association.

It was the country's mostcommon health problem, whichcost the economy $2 billion ayear, but it was also one of themost preventable, the ADA saidas it launched Dental HealthWeek today.

Although tooth decay wasfive times more prevalent than

asthma in children, 35 per cent ofparents said their children onlybrushed once a day and 60 percent expected them to have toothdecay.

Spiros Agapitos, ownerand principal dentist at DentalExcellence in Mt Hawthorn, saidtooth decay was not necessarilyinevitable.

"With a healthy, well-balanceddiet, good oral hygiene and regularvisits to the dentists, in many casestooth decay and other oral diseases

drinks and lollies and foodsthat stick to teeth such as toffee," hesaid.

" A c i d i c f oods such astomatoes and citrus fruits should beeaten with a larger meal to reduce theacid effect."

Dr Agapitos said thefluoride in tap water protectedteeth from decay, as did dairyproducts and high-vitamin, low-acid fruits and vegetables.

The new ADA research alsoshowed that 83 per cent of peoplesaid bad oral hygiene was thebiggest turn-off on a first date, followed by body odour (5 percent) and poor fashion sense (4per cent).

This was no surprise to DrAgapitos, who said bad breathwas a common complaint from hispatients.

"In most cases it is easilyfixed by a dental clean and the

implementation of a good oralhygiene routine," he said. "Having abright, white smile and fresh breathgives an individual great confidence."

Hello Martha my name is Eric and I have

been living in Bali for almost a year now

and have bought a house which I am

renovating. I have had a few people

helping me get things that I need to get

the job done and so far can't believe how

hard things are to actually get done here

as a foreigner. For one instance I needed

some bricks and so I went and got my

good Balinese friend Putu to help me buy

a thousand of them. I paid Putu for them

and then paid to get them delivered. We

needed more and so I went directly to thesame place to get more but I was told that

they have none left. When I looked

around the yard there seemed to be heaps

of bricks but the bloke insisted that there

was none. I called my friend Putu to come

and help me and when he went there later

the same day there was plenty to buy

which is what I thought when I saw the

huge stacks there. I gave him the money

for the bricks and the delivery and the

bricks came. Why didn't the man want to

sell me the bricks?? I find it hard to get

    things done sometimes.

    Eric Morgan Sydney

    Dear Eric,

Bali can certainly wear some people down

& does test most people's patience from time

to time. It is always a good idea to have a

local to help you & remember dear to

ensure he is well looked after, that way you

can be assured he will do the right thing by

    you.

Rumours is the eleventh studio album by British-American rock band Fleetwood Mac. Largely recorded in Californiaduring 1976, it was produced by the band with Ken Caillat and RichardDashut and was released on 4 February 1977 by Warner Bros. Records.

The record peaked at the top of both the main United States Billboardchart and the United Kingdom Albums Chart. "Go Your Own Way", "Don'tStop", "Dreams", and "You Make Loving Fun" were released as singles.A Grammy Award winner, Rumours is Fleetwood Mac's most successfulrelease with sales of over 40 million copies worldwide.

The band wanted to expand on the commercial success of the1975 record Fleetwood Mac, but struggled with relationship breakupsbefore recording started. The Rumours studio sessions were marked byhedonistic behavior and interpersonal strife between Fleetwood Macmembers; these experiences informed the album's lyrics. Influenced bypop music, the record's tracks were recorded using a combination ofacoustic and electric instruments. The mixing process delayed thecompletion of Rumours, but was finished by the end of 1976. Followingthe album's release in 1977, Fleetwood Mac undertook worldwidepromotional tours.

Rumours garnered widespread critical acclaim. Praise centeredon its production quality and harmonies, which frequently relied on theinterplay among three vocalists. The record has inspired the work ofmusical acts in different genres. Often considered Fleetwood Mac's bestrelease, it has featured in several publications' lists of the best albums ofthe 1970s and the best albums of all time. In 2004, Rumours was

remastered and reissued with the addition of an extra track and a bonusCD of outtakes from the recording sessions.

Press intrusions into the band members' lives led to inaccuratestories. Christine McVie was reported to be in hospital with a seriousillness, while Buckingham and Nicks were declared the parents of

Fleetwood's daughter Lucy after being photographed with her. The press also wrote about arumored return of original Fleetwood Mac members Peter Green, Danny Kirwan, and JeremySpencer for a 10th anniversary tour. Despite false reports, the band did not change line-up, althoughits members had no time to come to terms with the separations before recording for a new albumbegan. Fleetwood has noted the "tremendous emotional sacrifices" made by everyone just to attendstudio work. In early 1976, Fleetwood Mac crafted some new tracks in Florida. Founding membersFleetwood and John McVie chose to dispense with the ser vices of their previous producer, KeithOlsen, because he favored a lower emphasis on the rhythm section. The duo formed a companycalled Seedy Management to represent the band's interests.

In autumn 1976, while still recording, Fleetwood Mac showcased tracks from Rumours at theUniversal Amphitheatre in Los Angeles. John McVie suggested the album title to the band becausehe felt the members were writing "journals and diaries" about each other through music. WarnerBros, confirmed the release details to the press in December and chose "Go Your Own Way" as aJanuary 1977 promotional single The label's aggressive marketing of 1975's Fleetwood Mac, inwhich links with dozens of FM and AM radio stations were formed across America, aided the

promotion of Rumours. At the time, the album's advance order of 800,000 copies was the largest inWarner Bros.' history.Rumours was released on 4 February 1977 in the US and a week later in the UK. The front

cover features a stylized shot of Fleetwood and Nicks dressed in her "Rhiannon" stage persona, while the back has a montage of band portraits; all the photographs were taken by HerbertWorthington. On 28 February 1977, after rehearsing at SIR Studios in Los Angeles, Fleetwood Macstarted a seven month-long promotional tour of America. Nicks has noted that, after performingmostly Rumours songs during gigs, the band initially encountered poor receptions from fans whowere not accustomed to the new material. A one-off March performance at a benefit concert forUnited States Senator Birch Bayh in Indiana was followed by a short European tour of the UK, theNetherlands, France, and Germany in April. Nigel Williams of Uncut called Fleetwood Mac'sperformances "rock's greatest soap opera". "Dreams", released in June 1977, became the band'sonly number one on the US Billboard Hot 100.

    Lowndes sweeps Ipswich round

    For the second straight yearHolden veteran CraigLowndes has completed aclean sweep of the IpswichV8 Supercars round in am a j o r b o o s t t o h i schampionship hopes.

Backing up from his 140-kilometre race victory on

Saturday, Lowndes, 38, againproved too good in the 200kmfinale on Sunday to maintain hisMidas touch at home trackQueensland Raceway.

It was Lowndes' fifthstraight victory - and 11th overall -at Ipswich.

He finished the 65-lap racealmost two seconds ahead ofFord's Mark Winterbottom aftertheir absorbing duel wasdisrupted by backmarkers, withseries leader Jamie Whincup adistant third.

Initially it did not look like itwould be Lowndes's day after he

struggled in qualifying beforepulling out a blistering last gasplap to start the race fourth on thegrid.

Winterbottom got the jumpon pole sitter and team-mate WillDavison at the start with Lowndeslooming large in his mirror.

    Lowndes made his moveo n l a p s i x , o v e r t a k i n gWinterbottom's Falcon, and wasnever headed despite plenty of

    p r e s s u r efrom his Ford rival.

    L o w n d e schipped 42 pointsfrom Whincup'sseries lead overthe weekend withthe potent ia l ly

    series-decid ingendurance roundson the horizon.

    W h i n c u pleads with 2,052points, 82 aheadof Winterbottom,176 more than

Davison and 256 ahead of Lowndesmidway through the season.

"The last couple of years wehave had a good back half of theyear - I hope it continues," Lowndessaid.

    "I love the endurance rounds."

There was not muchLowndes did not achieve lastweekend.

He set a new qualifying laprecord to grab pole in the openingrace before sealing a dominantvictory on Saturday.

And he was not to be

denied on Sunday, providingWhincup and Ford title threatsWinterbottom and Davison plentyof food for thought ahead of thenext round at Sydney's EasternCreek track from August 25-26.

While Lowndes dominated,Winterbottom and Davison stillexorcised the demons of lastyear's nightmare Ipswich roundwhen they struggled to break thetop 15 and were lapped.

Davison finished sixth onSaturday and fourth on Sunday.

And if he leaves the Power, angry athow he has been treated, then he iskeeping it to himself.

"The club has given me a hugeamount. For that, I will always be in debt tothem," he said.

"I maintain this club is on an excitingjourney - it's full of promise.

"But I won't be here to enjoy thatjourney."

Axed Port Adelaide coach Matthew Primussaid it was a "dream come true" to coach theteam where he had served as both a playerand captain for so long.

But it has become a nightmare for the formerruckman who was sacked on Monday, a victim of anunderperforming and inconsistent squad.

"The journey hasn't gone according to plan. I wantedto coach this club for another 10 years if I could," he said.

"I wanted to be here for a long time. Unfortunately, that won't happen."

But Primus, a foundation player with Port in 1997,said he still believed the Power had a bright future andurged long-suffering supporters and sponsors to stick withthe club.

"Now we really need you, not just in the next couple ofmonths but in the coming years," he said.

Primus took over as Port Adelaide coach towards theend of the 2010 season when Mark Williams quit.

He guided the side to four wins from its last fivegames that year, earning a two-year contract that is due toexpire at the end of this season.

But that early promise seemed to evaporate in 2011as the side plunged to second last with just three wins.

Port showed improvement in 2012, but not enough toconvince the Port board to take up the option of stickingwith Primus for a third year.

The last straw was the side's embarrassingperformance against Greater Western Sydney onSaturday when the Giants inflicted a 34-point drubbing.

"How we played at the weekend, I really don't knowwhere that came from," Primus said.

"But the players have acknowledged that."Primus will leave Port with a less-than-impressive

record, taking the side to just 13 wins from 47 games, butwants to continue coaching at AFL level.

Primus says Port job was his dreamKuta Weekly Sports Corner9 Aug - 15 Aug 2012 (297)
