GEIKE GORGE Take a boat cruise along the 30-metre deep gorge carved out of a 350 million year-old reef system IMINTJI STORE Diesel, mechanical repairs and basic supplies. GIBB RIVER ROAD 660km 4WD track through the heart of the Kimberley. Open Nov-Apr (weather permitting). DERBY WAs oldest town, featuring the Boab Prison Tree. Second highest tides in the world. JAMES PRICE POINT Highly productive sail fishing grounds. Troll with lures and baits June-Sept (look out for whales). ROEBUCK BAY The Ramsar wetlands are popular for bird watching. WALCOTT INLET A fishing mecca. Quality estuary fish in the eastern reaches where the salt and fresh water mix. Jun-Oct is best. MANNING GORGE A good hike to this huge gorge and cascading falls. BUCCANEER ARCHIPELAGO 800 to 1000 islands with a tidal range up to 12 metres. See the horizontal waterfall in Talbot Bay. KING GEORGE FALLS See this magnificent dual waterfall by boat or aerial tour. BERKLEY RIVER Fish after the Wet for barra, trevally and mangrove jack. Catch reef fish on northern side of Reverley Island. DRYSDALE RIVER STATION Stock up on all supplies at this Australian outback homestead. PRINCE REGENT RIVER One of the straightest rivers in the Kimberley, noted for its sandstone cliffs that fall directly into the sea and the beautiful Kings Cascade Waterfall. DURACK RIVER The Durack flows through the heart of the Kimberley and features great camping spots. Be aware of estuarine crocs. GALVANS GORGE This deep plunge pool is just 600m walk straight off the Gibb River Road. KING LEOPOLD RANGES With camping areas at Bell Gorge and Silent Grove, explore the grand conservation park for days. A splash pool and waterfall is also at Bell Gorge. BELL GORGE The perfect U-shaped cliffs make this one of the most beautiful and busy gorges. MIMBI CAVES One of WA’s largest cave systems, with huge historic and spiritual significance. MORNINGTON WILDLIFE SANCTUARY Great for bird-watching, the sanctuary consists of Diamond Gorge, Sir John Gorge and Cadjeput Hole. FITZROY RIVER Set over 750km, this river flows through rugged hills and plains, making it one of the most important and iconic waterways. BUNGLE BUNGLES Only discovered in the last 30 years, these amazing land formations are estimated to be 350 million years old. DRYSDALE RIVER One of the Kimberley’s longest rivers – see the many sights – rapids, palms, crocodiles, flying foxes and birdlife.
