AUGUST 2009 www.harvestindia.org Kumars Meet With Former US Ambassador Mulford During a recent trip to Arizona in the month of July, a Harvest India supporter connected Suresh and Christina Kumar to the former US Ambas- sador to India, David Mulford and his wife Jeannie. During Mulford’s 5 years as ambassador, India and the United States achieved unprecedented economic cooperation and exponential expansion in business, health, finance, science, agriculture, education and military cooperation. As Ambassador, he negotiated the US-India civil nuclear agree- ment, ending India's 35 years of isolation. Mulford is currently Vice- Chairman International of Credit Suisse and resides in Arizona and India. “I had the privilege of meeting with Ambassador Mulford and sharing about our ministry,” said Suresh Kumar, president of Harvest India. “After talking about Jesus’ love toward the people of India, Christina and I prayed for him and his family.” The Kumars are trusting that this new relationship will be mutually beneficial as Harvest India continues to expand. Pray that the relationship between the Kumars and Mulfords will develop with future opportunities. Suresh Kumar Returns for Second Vision Trip During the Kumar’s vision trip to the United States in June and July, they had the opportunity to visit supporters and partner- ing churches in California, Oregon, and Arizona. “It is always wonderful to see familiar faces that have come to India in years past,” said Suresh Kumar. “We love sharing the vision, and we love giving people an opportunity to invest in what God is doing in India.” Suresh will be returning to the United States in the month of September to continue sharing the vision of Harvest India. If you would like to hear about what is happening in the ministry, schedule Suresh to speak at your church or group. Suresh's Schedule: September 1-8 - Maryland September 9-15 - Southern California September 16-28 - New Mexico If you'd like to schedule Suresh to speak at your group, mid- week gathering (college, singles, marrieds, etc.), or Sunday worship service, please contact [email protected]. Will You Pray for India? In James 4:2, we’re told, “You do not have, because you do not ask God.” Will you join us in praying for the needs of Harvest India? 1. Pray for the Kumar family. Ask God to continue blessing the Kumars with a great marriage, regular rest, and daily rejuvenation. 2. Pray for new opportunities to share about Jesus. We have the opportunity to take the good news of God’s love to places where they’ve never heard of Jesus. 3. Pray for 100 computers for the new school. Harvest India just opened a new school for children within the Dalit (untouchable) caste. 4. Pray for the finances of Harvest India. Currently Harvest India is operating at 50% of the normal budget due to a decrease in giving. Please pray that God continues to provide all that is needed to fulfill the vision.

A Story of Hope...Venkateswarao & Akkamma The greatest reward to our work is found in the stories of changed lives. Here is one of thousands of stories that we hear regularly...

My name is Venkateswarao, and I am 80 years old. My wife’s name is Akkamma, and she is 70 years old. We were lived in small village called Potharlanka in Andrah Pradesh where we used to work in the elds. We don’t have children so all the neighbors scowled at us and mocked us with bad words.

Because we are old aged, nobody showed us compassion and nobody gave us eld work to do. All our neighbors rejected us from the society. So we both started to beg. One day we met a person and he took us to the Harvest India elderly home in Tippalakatta. Now we are happy. They are feeding us and giving good food, clothes, and good shelter. Daily we are worshipping and praying in this home. We are thankful for God and Harvest India.

“Revolution” Team in India In the beginning of August, a team of 19 people from Revolution Church in southern California spent 2 weeks...

• Hosting a Vacation Bible School for 700 children.

• Dedicating four water wells in remote villages.

• Sharing about Jesus at three outreach meetings.

• Teaching English at the new Dalit school in the evenings.

• Hosting two medical camps to bless people with medicine.

• Giving food to Dalits, HIV/AIDS patients, and street children.

If you’d like to bring a team (big or small) to work with Harvest India, email [email protected] for more info.
