Hands
I am fascinated by looking at aging
hands. Hands have a story to tell. Old
hands, though wrinkled and weak have
been the tools given to many to work,
reach out and embrace life. From the
folding of hands in prayer to the folding
of hands in pain; from drying heartfelt tears to drying the dish-
es after supper; from holding loved ones close to holding rifles
in war; from shaking the fruit trees to shaking hands with
dignitaries; from chopping up vegetables to chopping up wood;
these hands have a lifetime of stories. Sometimes they’re dirty,
scraped and bruised. Other times they’re soft, smooth and
gentle. Some times they’re strong, nimble and quick. Other
times they’re weak, bent and broken.
Each jagged scar, each calloused knuckle, each crooked finger
carries with it an intriguing story worth the time to listen to and
learn more, but the hands that have changed my life and my
future are the nail-scarred hands of The One who gave His life
for me on the cross and then resurrected Himself from the
grave on the third day. Jesus is His name. It will be His hands
that reach out to me and welcome me into Heaven. It is the
story of His hands that I want my hands to tell as they serve,
pray, love, and
reach out to a lost
and hurting world,
in Jesus’ name.
Be inspired.
Be intentional.
Love, Give. Share.

24 Now Thomas, one of the Twelve, was not with the disciples when Jesus came. 25 So the other disciples
told him, “We have seen the Lord!”
But he said to them, “Unless I see the
nail marks in his hands and put my
finger where the nails were, and put my
hand into his side, I will not believe.”
26 A week later his disciples were in the
house again, and Thomas was with
them. Though the doors were locked,
Jesus came and stood among them
and said, “Peace be with you!” 27 Then
he said to Thomas, “Put your finger
here; see my hands. Reach out your
hand and put it into my side. Stop doubt-
ing and believe.”
28 Thomas said, “My Lord and my God!”
29 Then Jesus told him, “Because you
have seen me, you have believed;
blessed are those who have not
seen and yet have believed.”
John 20: 24-29

eternal life. John 3:16
A WIDOW’S WORDS ... ...on her church, who recently provided a meal and a time of fellow-ship between the deacons, their wives and the widows and widowers of the church. “It was lovely. I really enjoyed it because I don’t get out much more anymore. My deacon called and came by and picked me up. I en-joyed seeing friends I hadn’t seen in long time. “ Rose ...on her deacon. My TV wasn’t working right and all I could think to do was call my deacon and see if he could help me. Within an hour or so he was here. It took him awhile, but he figured it out for me! Elaine ...on her pastor and congregation. My pastor come by 3 times to see me since I’ve joined there and 2 of those times were on a Sunday afternoon after preaching 3 services. Someone brings me communion weekly and some people from the church are coming over on April 28th to clean up my year. Evelyn

Respite. Take it and do something for yourself, knowing your loved one is taken care of.
“I look forward to days when KSC friends come. I can use the time for personal refreshment or business knowing my mom is in excellent hands, leaving me to enjoy the time worry free! And when I return home, Mom is happy and in good spirits.”
Go for a walk, have a meal with a friend, sleep, read a book, or listen to uplifting music.
Another way to rejuvenate is to go see Steven Curtis Chapman at the historic Orpheum Theatre in Wichita on Thursday, May 2 as he plays through three decades of music from this most-awarded Christian artist.
The intimate historic venues and Steven’s transparency had one person saying, “We felt more like friends than fans.” Another fan said, “He gave us glimpses of both the success-es and the challenges that he and his family have gone through. We got to hear right from his heart.”
Tickets are available at stevencurtischapman.com/tour
Take a senior friend to an Easter service and lunch and maybe through a stroll at the
beautiful Botanica Gardens to see all the spring flowers!
Care Team Spotlight
Koinonia Senior Care employees 12 part-time compassionate staff of employees whose hearts call at this stage in their life is to serve our senior friends and their care-givers. KSC offers monthly training on topics relevant to the services we provide and situations we encounter. We have been blessed with the best. I think this is because they are called to serve and they see their investment of time as a ministry, not a job. I’d like for you to meet Sharlet, one of our Care Team staff:
Sharlet
Sharlet began serving at Koinonia Senior Care as a way to pay it forward for the help and visits given to her dad by one of the KSC volunteers, Lyle,
Sharlet strives to provide encouragement, love, com-
panionship and assistance physically, emotionally
and spiritually to those she serves.
One verse that Sharlet likes is Hebrews 6:10, God is
not unjust; He will not forget your work and the love
you have shown
him as you have
helped his people and continue to help them.
Of Sharlet and Patty, one caregiver wrote, “I look
forward to days when KSC friends come. I can
use the time for personal refreshment or business
knowing my mom is in excellent hands, leaving
me to enjoy the time worry free! And when I
return home, Mom is happy and in good spirits.”
Thank you, Sharlet, for serving our senior friends
and treating them with respect, honor and as a
good friend and family! Sharlet and Amy serving at our 2018
KSC Chick-fil-A fundraiser.
