Welcome to the second edition of the KS3 Art
Newsletter. As usual, it has been a busy term and
the KS3 students’ creative talents are shining
through more than ever.
The KS3 Art Poster Competition entries did not
disappoint! It was very difficult to select our run-
ners up and, of course, our year group winners.
The selection was judged by our very own
headteacher, Mr Micek. All of the winning
posters will be displayed in the KS3 form rooms
and prizes will be given to the winners during their
next art lesson. These posters will be the centre
point for a on-going art exhibition in form rooms,
which will celebrate the outstanding work our stu-
dents produce on a daily basis.
Stay safe,
Mrs Smith (KS3 Art coordinator)

Congratulations to Mollie Scaife
for her fantastic still life drawing
and Ellie Hughes for her delicious-
ly painted doughnuts on canvas

away, building on their
knowledge, skills and under-

original artist influence of Saul
Steinberg and his use of lines
to capture tone, Year 7 have
been studying alternative mark
making techniques, such as
cross hatching and continuous
line drawing with some great
results.
By Oscar Rawsell,
Molos Rizaj, and

YEAR 8 Year 8 Art Poster
Competition
WINNER!
Congratulations to Rocco Dobson in
8L for his powerful use of bold lines
in his Manga-inspired poster.
Year 8 students have been applying their knowledge
of facial proportion and understanding of Karl
Schmidt to create blended pastiches. These works
really highlight their colour blending skills, creating
some lovely toned work with coloured pencils. But
the results speak for themselves!
The students are producing some
lovely work that builds on
previous knowledge and skill s,
as well as extending their
appreciation of different artistic
genres. Their research into Karl
Schmidt also helps to complete
their understanding of
Expressionism, as it uses colour
in an exciting and innovative
way.

excellent artist research pages.
