• 10%-15% of people with lung cancer have SCLC

• Starts in the bronchi, near the chest

• Spreads & grows quickly

• It almost always spreads to other organs of the body

• 85%-90% of people with lung cancer have NSCLC

• 3 main subtypes• Squamous Cell Carcinoma• Adenocarcinoma• Large Cell Carcinoma

•Are a result from smoking

•Cancer cells take over the cells that normally secrete mucus in the lung

•Effects more women than men

•Most common type of cancer for non-smokers

•Has the best survival rate

• Appears in any part of the lungs• Grows and spreads quickly• Hardest type of lung cancer to treat.

• More people die from lung cancer than breast, prostate, and colon cancer combined

• The survival rate is 17%

• Only 15% of lung cancer is caught at an early stage

Personal Story• Passed away 8/17/2014 from

Congestive Heart Failure(from lung cancer)

• Had health problems my whole life

• Smoked a pack a day

• Will not be at my wedding

• Passed away at 73
