Planter Info
Each piece is molded, carved, glazed and fired by professional artisans. Slightvariations may occur due to individual handling.
Earthenware planters have been approved by independent laboratories testingfor glaze color durability, tilt and impact resistance, leakage and holding strength.
Earthenware and terra cotta items are low-fired and best in temperatures above 32degrees. All other planters are weather resistant in the range of 0 to 120 degrees.Items are not intended for water gardening use in winter and may crack when filledwith water and exposed to prolonged freezing temperatures.
Planters come with a minimum of one drain hole. For larger sizes, two or moreholes are formed for proper drainage.
When ordering glazed planters, please note there is a degree of variation fromthe glaze color shown. Glazes are a type of glass that is chemically formulatedto be applied to the surface of the clay and fused into the body when fired. The percentage of each compound used, the temperature it is fired and theplanter's location in the kiln can all affect the color of the glaze.
The shape of each smaller size in a set may differ from the largest size toaccommodate for nesting while firing and in transit.
Sizes are listed as width X heigth for round and square planters andwidth X length X height for ovals, rectangles and special shapes.
Over the span of years, planters will fade and change in appearance when exposedto the elements. This natural process lends beauty and character to a planter and isnot considered a defect in materials or craftsmanship.
Occasional cleaning of your planters will keep them beautiful for years to come.Simply rinsing with water will keep dirt and debris from accumulating on thesurface. A mild soap and soft sponge can be used for a more thorough cleaning.
We will be glad to work with you in creating custom designed items. Commercialinstallations and architectural projects can be developed to your specification.Minimum order and other requirements will apply. All items are custom madein Vietnam and require a minimum 90 day lead time for delivery. Please contactus for additional information.

It’s a mighty hard row that my poor hands have hoedMy poor feet have traveled a hot dusty roadOut of your Dust Bowl and westward we rolledAnd your deserts were hot and your mountains were cold
I worked in your orchards of peaches and prunesI slept on the ground in the light of the moonOn the edge of the city you’ll see us and thenWe come with the dust and we go with the wind
California, Arizona, I harvest your cropsWell its north up to Oregon to gather your hopsDig the beets from your ground, cut the grapes from your vineTo set on your table, your light sparkling wine
Green pastures of plenty from dry desert groundFrom the Grand Coulee Dam where the waters run downEvery state in the Union us migrants have beenWe’ll work in this fight and we’ll fight till we win
It’s always we rambled, that river and IAll along your green valley, I will work till I dieMy land I’ll defend with my life if it beCause my pastures of plenty must always be free.

I lit out from your back doorKicked an old can fifty miles or moreWritten right there on the side of the canThere’s a little bird of heaven right here in your hand
I looked up and I looked backWalked a hundred miles down the railroad trackAll’s I can tell from where I standThere’s a little bird of heaven right here in my hand
Well love they tell me is a fragile thingIt’s hard to fly on broken wingsI lost my ticket to the promise landBut there’s a little bird of heaven right here in my hand
So toss it up or pass it roundPay mind to what you’re carryin’ roundKeep it close, hold it while you canThere’s a little bird of heaven right here in your hand
Fallen hearts and fallen leavesStarlings light on the broken treesI find we all need a place to landThere’s a little bird of heaven right here in your hand
So toss it up or pass it roundPay a mind to what you’re carrying aroundOh keep it close, hold it while you canThere’s a little bird of heaven right here in your hand

On a Greyhound thirty miles beyond JamestownHe saw the sun set on the Tennessee lineHe looked at the young man who was riding beside himHe said I’m old, kind of worn out on the insideI worked my whole life in the steel mills of GaryAnd like my father before me I helped build this landNow I’m seventy seven and with God as my witnessI earned every dollar that passed through my hands
My family and friends are the best things I’ve known Through the eye of the needle I’ll carry them home
Days turn to minutes And minutes to memories Life sweeps away the dreams That we have planned You are young and you are the future So suck it up and tough it out And be the best you can
The rain hit the old dog in the twilight’s last gleamingHe said son it sounds like rattling old bonesThis highway is long but I know some that are longerBy sunup tomorrow I guess I’ll be homeThrough the hills of Kentucky, cross the Ohio RiverThe old man kept talking ‘bout his life and his timesHe fell asleep with his head against the windowHe said an honest man’s pillow is his peace of mindThis world offers riches and riches will grow wingsI don’t take stock in those uncertain things ...

Almost heaven, West VirginiaBlue ridge mountains, Shenandoah riverLife is old there, older than the treesYounger than the mountains, growing like a breeze
Country roads, take me homeTo the place I belongWest Virginia, mountain mommaTake me home, country roads
All my memories, they gather ‘round herMiner’s lady, stranger to blue waterDark and dusty, painted on the skyMisty taste of moonshine, teardrops in my eyes
Country roads, take me homeTo the place I belongWest Virginia, mountain mommaTake me home, country roads
I hear her voice in the mornin’ hour she calls meThe radio reminds me of my home far awayAnd drivin’ down the road I get a feelin’That I should have been home yesterday, yesterday...

Earthenware clay is the most versatile in terms molding, carving and glaze application. Our clay becomesan eggshell color, firing at 2100 degrees F in gas kilns. While being more lightweight than stoneware, bakingto the point of vitrification gives it exceptional strength. Our earthenware is lab tested and accredited asfrost-proof down to zero degrees. It is compatible with a variety of glazes, allowing for planter designs thatmatch a limitless array of home decor.
Our Terra Cotta is a red earthenware clay baked at about 1800 degrees Fahrenheit and requires 14 days tocomplete the firing process. It sometimes acquire a white wash on the surface due to soluble salts of limebeing deposited as moisture in the clay evaporates. This gives a classical, aged appearance like that of oldworld planters. Although low fired, our terra cotta planters are thick walled and treated with a transparentcompound to make them frost resistant and reliable in moderate winter climates.
Black iron, copper oxide and other colorants are added to a red clay body to form Black Clayware. Highconcentrations of iron fortify the clay and coupled with a firing temperature of up to 2400 degrees Fahrenheitmakes it one of the most durable ceramic planters available. Areas of clear glaze and a matte, brownish-redbody give a natural, rustic contrast to each piece.
Our Natural Blend category includes planters formed by either a combination of clays, such as red terra cotta, black clayware and porcelain to create a marbling effect or by combining sand and additives and applying it tothe surface to create a variety of mottled and aged glazes. Sand blasted planters are hand finished to reflectthe faded shades and rich textures of weathered stones formed by nature.
Terrazzo is a centuries old art form that is made by mixing small pieces of stone in a mortar base. Our plantersare formed by combining colored cement with real marble chips and polishing to a smooth stone finish.Terrazzo's simple styling and easy maintenance make it a preferred choice for public displays, commercialbuildings and contemporary settings.
Enjoy the natural beauty of stones and clays found in pottery, without all the weight! Poly Lite planters areformed by combining light weight plastics with natural materials such as marble, fiber or clay. Up to 70%lighter than similar sized clay or cement items, Poly Lite is ideal for public environments, hard to reach interiorareas or elevated spaces. Sturdy, but more lightweight, they can be used indoors or out and are a good choiceand practical solution for many container gardening needs.
Stoneware clays used in our planters are coarse and dense to withstand heavier treatment and greaterstresses in firing. It is similar in mineral composition to stones and on occasion both are alike in color andtexture. When the clay is fired to maturity at about 2250 degrees Fahrenheit, it becomes vitreous and durablein all types of weather conditions. Our Glazed Stoneware are available in a variety of glossy and matte glazesthat include just about every color in the garden landscape.
Thank you for letting us serve your business!
