FISHING MADE EASY

Take Chris Ponsford’s feature on how to tackle commercial fisheries. With the majority of day ticket venues requiring more of a ‘match-style’ approach, having the right tackle and baits for the job can make for a prolific day’s fishing. Enjoy Chris’s advice on choosing the right hook for the right bait, as well as his tips on rod and reel selection for different species. Another great article that’s sure to improve your fishing is Shaun Hodges’ crucian carp approach. His tips on fishing a super-sensitive waggler setup will help you catch all manner of different species – none more impressive than the shy-biting crucian. Sticking with stillwaters, myself and Adam Firth reveal our best carp fishing edges for day ticket waters. From specialised rigs to clever bait presentations, we’ve provided you with our very top tips for this hard-fighting species. We both fish for carp more than any other species – usually with some modicum of success. Give our tricks a try and see how you get on.

Phil Spinks is also lifting the lid on his best angle of attack, this time for perch. Phil’s been a regular in the angling press with big perch for years. In this feature, he reveals all and gives you the inside line on catching more stripeys. Sticking with predators, Gary Knowles takes a look at how choosing the right lure can make all the difference when targeting pike, perch and zander. His simple guide makes lure fishing so much easier! Using the Snapper range of Drones and snap tackle, Gary’s insight is sure to give you an edge over other anglers. On the river front, we’ve a couple of crackers from Dai Gribble and Ade Kiddell – two men who you’d put money on to produce the goods from any river. Ade starts with his big river approach, explaining how using big feeders in combination with the right setup can result in some seriously big barbel. Ade targets this species all over the world and even holds records in other countries. Following his expertise is bound to result in more big barbel for you this season.

Dai Gribble, meanwhile, gives a masterclass in roving for chub, giving some superb advice on what areas to target and what baits will produce the goods. Dai’s track record for this species is second to none – it’s a must-read! On top of all this, the Fishing Made Easy magazine also showcases the Korum tackle range for 2013, which includes some handy new items and, of course, some more tackle innovations that you can add to your armoury. We’re always working hard to develop tackle that can transform your fishing – if we can help make a job easier, or improve somebody’s fishing, chances are it’s in the Korum range. So put your feet up, read on and enjoy our latest magazine offering. It’s a cracking read and includes loads of great material you won’t find anywhere else. Good luck in your fishing this season, I hope to see you on the bank some time. Tight lines,

For the majority of day ticket anglers, Commercial Fisheries offer the best chance of constant action and big fish.

With thousands of this type of venue available to fish, having the right kit can make a massive difference to how many fish you catch. In fact, taking more of a match-style approach can often lead to more fish in the net.

Here at Korum, we recognise that many anglers like to fish in this ‘Commercial Style’ – thus, the CS Series was born. With rods, reels, luggage and end tackle, we like to think we provide everything the commercial fishery angler needs to catch more fish. Here’s just a taster of what will boost your results this season…

Chris Ponsford reveals the secret of tackling commercial venues for the bigger fish that live there.

I really enjoy fishing commercial venues as they’re a fantastic way to get your string pulled. Most of these venues are used for matches, or have a stocking density that means you’re guaranteed a great day’s fishing. Not all commercials are surrounded by blokes with poles, either. In fact, the majority now cater for the pleasure and specialist angler alike, and in some venues, there are some monster species lurking that sometimes go under the radar.

One thing I often see at this type of venue is anglers losing fish, and sometimes this is down to the tackle they’re using. Picking the right rod is really important and you want something with a really forgiving, softer tip with power in the butt to subdue those larger specimens. The Korum CS Series range is perfectly suited for this type of fishing, offering float and feeder rods to suit different ranges and different sizes of fish. I’ll usually stick with as short a rod as I can get away with, as the fish tend to surface much closer to you under the rod tip, making them easier to net. Try a day’s fishing with a 10ft feeder rod and you’ll see exactly what I mean!

A small reel is also important, and the CS Series Rear Drag reels are lovely and lightweight, with a powerful drag. A great match for the CS Series rods, of course!

Bait &tackleselection made easy

Reel line very much depends on what species you’re after, as does your hook and line selection. For me, now, the CS Series Hook to Nylon range suits me perfectly. No more sitting with my glasses on trying to tie up spade end hooks – I just take these out of the packet and I’m fishing! The hooks are balanced to suit different baits, which is another important thing to help you land more fish. Get the pattern right, and you’ll land almost every fish you hook.

■ CS Hooks to Nylon are available in Worm/Caster, Corn/Bread, Pellet/Maggot and Meat/Paste

ANGLER PROFILE

Page 14: Korum Consumer Guide 2013

KORUM CONSUMER GUIDE 201314

I love a bit of slab fishing and there’s no better way than to use the feeder. I’ll use either an 11ft or 12ft CS Series Feeder Rod depending on the range required, and a CS 4000 reel loaded with 7lb line, to absorb the impact of the cast and help land any ‘nuisance’ carp! With a groundbait feeder laced with goodies, I can change my Hook to Nylon depending on what bait I decide upon that day. Usually it’s the Pellet/Maggot variety with either a Sonubaits hookable pellet, or a double maggot combination. I’ll sometimes switch to the Worm/Caster rigs to offer double caster or a piece of worm – it’s worth changing to see what the bream respond to.

There’s always some good tincas and stripeys to be caught down the edge on commercials, especially near lily pads or structure. For me, the Corn/Bread Hooks to Nylon are brilliant to present a grain or two of corn for tench. They have a wide gape so you can either hook one grain flat-sided, or two grains side by side. I’ll fish an 13ft CS Series Float rod with a CS 4000 reel loaded with 5lb line, using something like a pole float on the line. The bigger reel helps subdue the fish more easily and allows me to use heavier line if the tench are whoppers! For the perch, it has to be the Worm/Caster Hooks to Nylon with a juicy lobworm on the end! These same tactics will work for crucian carp, too.

Most commercials have plenty of silver fish and the sport can be prolific. I tend to team a 12ft CS Series float rod with 5lb reel line on a CS 3000 reel, using either the Worm/Caster Hooks to Nylon with casters, or Pellet/Maggot variety with maggots. The hooks on the Worm/Caster are great for increasing hookups with very small fish due to the straight point, whilst the Pellet/Maggot type are stronger in the wire and better suited to larger silvers or skimmers.

Here’s what I’d recommend for different species on this type of venue, from the rod and reel, to the main line, bait and hooklink selection:

FISHING MADE EASY

Method FeederThe most popular and prolific way to catch carp on many venues is with a Method feeder and in my opinion; the Dura-Method Feeder from Korum is the best of the bunch. They’re tough, cast like a dream and load up beautifully with the dedicated mould. I like to use the 10ft CS Series Feeder rod wherever I can and it’s ideal for short casts to islands. I’ll team this with a CS 3000 reel loaded with 7lb or 9lb line and use the Power Band Hair Rigs in 4” or Quickstop Hair Rigs in 4” to present my hookbait. With either soaked pellets or groundbait on the feeder, and a pellet or corn hookbait, you’ll watch the tip fly round time and time again.

MarginsFor me, the best way to bag a really big carp is to feed down the edge and drop a float on it later in the day. For this, the ultra-powerful Meat/Paste Hooks to Nylon are essential, allowing me to present a big lump of spam or some nice fishmeal paste in the margins. I’ll use a Korum Blob Float to suspend the bait just touching bottom, and base my hook size on how big the carp are! A good 9lb reel line and strong CS 4000 reel are required here, and any of the CS Series float rods will subdue a big carp.

WagglerCatching carp shallow on the waggler or pellet waggler is an exciting way to catch carp. The 11ft CS Float rod is perfect for casting pre-weighted floats and a nice 7lb reel line on a CS 3000 reel ensures an easy cast. It’s now time to break out the CS Series Power Band Hair Rigs, which offer a mega-sharp wide gape hook that was purpose built for pellet waggler fishing. I’ll present a hard 6mm or 8mm pellet under a loaded float and keep peppering it with 3 or 4 pellets until the float goes under. It’s an active and exciting way to catch lots of carp in the warmer weather!

These tactics are an outline really and you can tweak them for your own fishing. I know some of my fellow Korum anglers have been using the Corn/Bread Hooks to Nylon to present bread flake for carp on the surface, or bread punch when trotting for big roach. It’s all down to personal preference, but my guidelines should help you put a few more fish on the bank this year. Get out there and get catching!

With a whole host of technical jargon it can seem like a tough task to start perch fishing. In reality, it couldn’t be easier – Let Phil Spinks show you how…

problems!perching

Phil’s first choice for rods is a 1.25lb Neoteric XS Twin Top with a 60 Freespin Reel.

I’m always looking to keep my fishing as easy as possible. Over complicating rigs and end tackle can lead to all sorts of problems. Perch fishing is possibly the simplest form of fishing that I do. When reading about perch fishing there are usually plenty of confusing rigs and technical words to go with them, well I don’t think they are needed.

Tackle ChoiceI’ll start with my rods – a 1.25lb Neoteric XS Twin Top is my first choice. It absorbs the lunges and head shaking of a big perch, while still having the power to cast the leads and bait out. These are my favourite rods in the range, it’s not only perch that they are good for; all of my tench, bream and roach fishing is done with the Neoteric XS Twin Top. On my rod is a KXI 60 Freespin Reel, designed to work perfectly together, the superb line lay and smooth Freespin system ensures that both my casting and playing of fish are easy. These are kept on my 3-Rod Quiver it’s perfect for a short day fishing as it’s lightweight and compact.

My main line is 5lb Xpert Reel Line, this green line is extremely hard to see underwater so the fish don’t spook and also it has immense strength for its low diameter. I’ve been using this line for over a year now and I have full faith in it. The 1000m spools are great value and you can even spool up three reels from one spool of line – that saves a few quid!

PERCHING PROBLEMS

the business end

Rod SupportI like to use single banksticks for my perch fishing. This allows me to point my rod tips at the rig, creating as little resistance as possible when the fish picks up the bait and runs. My first choice of bankstick is the 30cm Korum Banksticks. On the front I use two KBI Bite Alarms and on the back I’ve got two Xpert Uni Butt Rests. These fit the cork handles on my Neoteric perfectly, ensuring that the rod won’t get dragged in should I hook a very hungry perch or a carp!

The first thing to bear in mind is resistance in your rig, perch hate it, and if the big 4lb perch that you have spent many nights dreaming about, picks up your lobworm and feels resistance it will quite quickly spit your worm out. Leaving you bewildered as to why you aren’t catching.

I always use running rigs for perch fishing. The Running Rig Kits from Korum create the ideal free running rig that won’t tangle on the cast. They are extremely easy to rig up and leave you confident that you have a resistance free running rig. Onto the free-running clip I attach a small 1.5oz lead. The lead is the perfect size to keep the rig anchored to the bottom when the bait is picked up, but doesn’t crash through the water creating unnecessary disturbance.

In my spare time I like to make up hooklinks and store them on a Maxi Rig Board. This keeps me organised and also gives you more time with your baits in the water. Perching hooklinks are made using Xpert Power Mono in 4lb or 6lb and Xpert Specialist Hooks in size 6. Perch have huge, cavernous mouths for their size, and bigger hooks give me more confidence that the hook will grab hold. The super sharp Xpert Specialist pattern is perfect for the bony mouthed stripeys.

Drop-offThere are a few different ways to show up your bites when perch fishing. My personal choice is a drop-off indicator. As soon as the fish picks up the bait, the indicator pings off and line is free to peel off the reel with no resistance at all.

I use Korum Bite Indicator Kits for all of my fishing. Their versatility is amazing, with each kit having a hockey stick and chain, for carp, tench or bream, and a lightweight cord and bankstick clip for using as a drop-off indicator. The clip can be adjusted to grip the line or to ping off when a perch or eel picks up your

hookbait. The indicators can all be interchanged to suit the individual and also come with a handy glow-in-the-dark head. Essential for fishing into the darkness!

Upon picking up the bait, my line pings out of the bite indicator and a bleep sounds from the KBI Bite Alarm, only one bleep is needed to alert me to a fish picking up the bait.

There you have it - simple advice to catch a big perch.

And if all else fails...

The Xpert range has been designed to meet the high standards of the specimen hunter, without breaking the bank. Our already popular range of hooks and hooklink materials have been a massive success and for 2013 we are adding ready-tied hooklinks to the range.

They include Braided hair rigs, perfect for big fish hunting, along with Mono hair rigs, which you’ll find ideal for feeder fishing and even river fishing, as they are slightly longer than your average ready-tied hooklink. All tied with the Xpert range and coming with baiting needles and bait stops in the packet, they offer ridiculously good value.

We’ve also added a robust reel line to the range. Available in 1,000m spools, it’s perfect for all your specimen fishing needs. Rigorously tested by our very own Xperts, it’s a line you can really rely on.

FISHING MADE EASY

Fishing on a river is something that virtually all anglers will attempt at some point in their lifetime, often with varying success. The thought of trying to catch a fish from a river in flood is enough to make many anglers choose the easy option and put their feet up in front of the TV. norfolk barbel botherer, Ade Kiddell can often be found wandering up and down his local river in search of likely looking barbel swims from stretches of river that many would dismiss due to the conditions.

Pick your venueChoosing the right venue is possibly the most important factor of fishing a river in flood conditions. When rivers are in flood the water can be up to four metres higher than normal, as you can imagine, that is a lot of water pushing downstream; because of this safety is of great importance.

“Pick a swim that has easy access up and down the bank, if the river rises quickly you don’t want to be scrambling up and down steep river banks with arms full of tackle.” Ade remarks. Loading his Accessory Chair and Ruckbag onto his back and picking up his 3 rod quiver, Ade heads down to the river.

Tackle ChoiceBefore starting on the business end, you’ll need some other essentials. Being comfortable when fishing will make you want to stay for longer, ultimately catching more fish! Ade uses a Korum Accessory Chair. The chair with its unique 4 adjustable legs will allow you to fish on virtually any terrain; perfect for the uneven banks of rivers. The chair is designed to work in conjunction with the Korum Ruckbag, allowing you to attach both to your back, leaving your hands free for lighter items or a bucket of bait.

Choosing the right tackle for a flooded river is essential, if your feeders are not carrying enough lead they will roll off down the river. Your rods, reels and line need to be up to the job. Ade explains: “I regularly use Korum Combi Feeders that weigh up to 150g/5oz and you won’t be able to cast those with your average feeder rod. A Korum Neoteric XS Multi Quiver Power coupled with a KXi Freespin 60 reel is my first choice.” Ade’s reel is loaded with 14lb Xpert Reel Line, due to the big feeders and powerful fish that inhabit the river.

■ Choosing the right feeder is essential for river fishing

Page 40: Korum Consumer Guide 2013

“The Combi Feeders allow me to have the variation of both an open-ended feeder and a blockend maggot feeder. This means I only have to carry one set of feeders, cutting the weight in half and believe me, when carrying a bag of 3, 4 and 5oz feeders; it really is a huge difference.”

Ade then attaches a Running Rig Kit to the reel line. “The Running Rig Kits make everything extremely simple and tangle free and onto this I have clipped a Large 90g Korum Combi Feeder.” Ade casts out with an empty feeder to see if he has enough lead to hold bottom. After casting out he lets out a bow of line and places the rod on the rest. “Letting out a bow of line allows me to use much less lead in the feeder. I’m watching the rod tip to see if the feeder rolls along the bottom, if it is too light the tip will bounce.”

“My hooklink is a size 12 pre-tied Power Mono Hair Rig, this simple packet of ready-tied hair rigs is longer than your average Hooks to Nylon, perfect for using on the river; and with full confidence in the Xpert range I know I will land every fish.”

Ade keeps all of his hooklinks on a Maxi Rig Board. This fits neatly into an ITM Rig Manager tackle box also with all of his other essentials such as hooks, line and swivels.

Top TacticsKeeping mobile is essential, the barbel will move about in the river, and if you’ve caught a few the others may be very wary. If you have to wait longer than 45 minutes for a bite, the chances are the fish have moved away. “With this in mind I’ll look for a different swim. This can be as easy as moving up or downstream of a big snaggy tree or walking a mile to find another top spot. Whichever you have to do, make sure you keep mobile. Nobody likes looking at a static rod tip all day!” smiles Ade as his rod tip pulls round with an angry barbel. Give these tactics a try!

The Ruckbag principle has never been bettered. This unique way of carrying a chair within a bag has revolutionised the fishing of many

roving anglers, as well as making life easy for those with a long walk to their peg on commercial fisheries and lakes. We recognise the Ruckbag

is not just a bag for river anglers, it can be a welcome benefit to any angler. For this reason, there are three bags in the Ruckbag style.

Dai’s rigs are always simple. He uses a Korum Quick Change Bead with a small ledger link behind it, tied with Korum Power Mono.

Roving rivers is beyond a skill – it’s an artform. One angler who makes the most of this style of fishing is Midlands ace, Dai gribble.

Find out more about his approach.

i love targeting chub. When you go wanting to catch them, the rewards can be fantastic. Catching them whilst barbel fishing is usually somewhat of a let-down, but roving between swims searching them out from various creases and snags is really something quite special.

Usually, you’ll find a couple of lovely creases that scream chub. Usually a crease that leads to an overhanging tree downstream is ideal. I bait them with mashed bread and mix in a little Sonubaits Supercrush Marine Halibut groundbait to increase the oils and smells in the area. I’ll then tackle up whilst these various spots rest and the fish gain confidence.

My rod for this job is usually a Korum Neoteric XS Quiver, or sometimes even a CS Series 12ft Feeder. Quite light rods, but both have the backbone for a big chub. I’ll team this with a CS Series Power Rear Drag reel, which is nice and light with a strong clutch.

My rigs are always very simple. I’ll team a Korum Quick Change Bead with a small ledger link behind it, tied with a short piece of Korum Power Mono, with a couple of big locking shot squeezed on. It’s such a simple way to fish.

At the hook end, I’ll usually go for a reasonable sized Xpert Specialist Hook, which I can fix a nice lump of breadflake onto. My hooklink is always tied with Korum Xpert Power Mono, which is by far the strongest and most kink-resistant hooklink I’ve ever used. Seriously, give this stuff a try!

“Korum Xpert Power Mono, by far the strongest

hooklink I’ve ever used.”

Dai Gribble

I tend to cast out to the crease and let the bait naturally roll its way down towards a snaggy spot like an overhanging tree. You’ll find the bait settles eventually and then it’s time to watch and wait. Usually, you won’t have to wait long for indications if the chub are around and feeding. Many of my best fish have come within seconds of the tip settling.

You want to find some deeper water, where the fish can feel safe, and feel free to adjust the shot on your link ledger if things aren’t quite panning out. It’s also worth doing some research on the best venues for chub. I’m lucky that the River Severn, Trent and Dove are within easy reach for me and certain areas hold some fantastic chub.

I’d also point out the importance of travelling light on these trips, or at least travelling ‘clever’, if like me you take a lot of gear with you. I tend to use the new Korum Roving Rucksack for a lot of this type of fishing, or a Korum Ruckbag with the new Supa-Lite chair. You could even consider one of the Roving Kits, which are quite a clever piece of kit.

‘Travel clever’ like Dai, he uses the new Korum Roving Rucksack.

So really, chub fishing on rivers can be fairly straight forward. give my tips a try!

Match your hook size to the hookbait you are usingA big 20mm boilie is more suited to a size 6 Xpert Specimen Hook, where as a single grain of Korum Supa Corn would be better with a size 12 Xpert Specimen.

KEEP IT CLIPPED

Korum Carp rods are equipped with a handy line clipThis little clip increases the angle between your reel and alarm when using a bite indicator, making your indicators more effective and showing any little movement in the lake. If your line comes out the clip on a finicky take, hit it! There’s a fish on.

Using an Anti-Tangle Sleeve will kick your hooklink away from the lead leading to better presentationIt will also stop the rig tangling around your leader on the cast, leaving your rig useless in the water. They’re cheap and simple to use; essential for use with a Lead Clip. Use with a Quickchange Swivel for speed fishing.

■dAY SESSIoN ShELtER mK II - ovERwRAPThe popularity of the Korum Day Session Shelter has proven that modern coarse anglers recognise the quality and improvements offered by such an innovative product. In fact, we’re bombarded almost daily with requests for an overwrap to fit around the shelter. Not to leave anybody disappointed, we’ve spent six months developing a feature-packed overwrap for anglers wanting more protection from their shelter. The overwrap converts the Day Session Shelter to a twin skin system for all-season protection and added warmth during cooler conditions. The front porch area has a roll up door and ventilated windows. The side panels can also be rolled and clipped back into position for increased visibility.

Incorporating a near vertical back, it is has a very efficient use of space for chair anglers as there is little wasted space behind the chair. This coupled with the generous head clearance makes it extremely comfortable for anglers of all ages and sizes. When accompanied by another angler or an overnight session is planned the Multi Shelter can be quickly extended, thanks to the innovative zip system, to create a generous sized bivvy. BARS OF GOLD

Shaun’s choice is the Korum CS 3000 rear drag reel. It is lightweight and looks great.

Known as possibly the most finicky feeding fish in our lakes, a big crucian is an extremely rewarding capture. With the right tackle choices these compact specimens will brighten up your day, not forgetting the strong powerful fight they give. Here’s Shaun to explain the finer details on how to bag a big bar of gold…

Tackle ChoicesTo catch big crucians you’ve got to use the right type of fishing tackle. Trying to catch them using carp rods, big reels and big hooks is a recipe for failure. These somewhat shy little fish demand a level of finesse often more common with match anglers. By far the best way I have found is to use a float! Waggler fishing is a very enjoyable form of fishing, watching a few bubbles pop-up around your float, sitting with your hand on the rod, ready to strike at any dips or lifts; it’s also made more enjoyable when you lift into a big crucian.

You’ve got to be comfortable when fishing, so I choose the Korum Accessory Chair. It is super strong and super comfy, what’s more the legs are fully adjustable to suit any bank I’m fishing on! Onto this I can add all of the accessories that I need – from a side tray to place my bait on, to a feeder arm and butt rest. This makes everything to hand and organised.

BARS OF

GOLDif there’s one man that knows a thing or two about big crucian carp it’s top all-rounder Shaun Hodges. Shaun has a list of big crucian captures, even managing to bag an incredible seventeen 3lb crucians and three 4lb crucians in one session – now that’s impressive!

“Get out there and try it - you too

could be holding a bar of gold.”

My rod of choice for crucian fishing is the 12ft CS Series Float rod. This is an easy, manageable length and has a very responsive tip; perfect for hitting fast bites. The smart cork/duplon handle and quality finish make this rod look as good as rods three times the price. This is coupled with a small CS 3000 rear drag reel. It’s lightweight, looks great and is designed to work perfectly with the CS range of rods. The reel is loaded with Xpert Reel Line in 5lb. This is very low in diameter, and has a no-spook green colour.

I use a light 2g Preston Innovations Adjustable Waggler. This sensitive float is dotted right down until there is just a tiny amount showing. This way I’ll get indications as soon as the crucian even sniffs my hookbait!

Going hand in hand with the light float is my hooklength. I use the new CS Series Hooks to Nylon. My favourite choice is the Corn/Bread pattern, I use size 18 hooks which are tied to low diameter line; essential for crucian carp.

The small hooks work brilliantly with a piece of sweetcorn or a small pellet, they are super sharp and are extremely handy having them pre-tied in a packet. This little setup is perfect for fishing close in to marginal reeds and weedbeds for crucians.

the intelligent choice

Whilst the Korum ethos of ‘Fishing Made Easy’ certainly rings true with our end tackle, there are still plenty of strong, reliable items that the specimen hunters and big fish angler can add to their armoury.

With so many rig essentials in the range, it’s well worth taking stock of what you’re using currently and comparing the Korum offerings. We believe we offer better quality and value than any other brand in specimen fishing, with intelligent products designed to make a difference where it counts – out on the bank.

Ask any top match angler what their favourite end tackle gismo for hair-rigging is and all of them would say the Korum Quickstop. Whether it’s Andy Findlay bagging big carp all over the country, Des Shipp winning match after match, or the local club angler catching on the Method Feeder, all of them will have a Quickstop in their box.

We were the first to bring a bespoke Quickstop to the market and our product is still the only one developed by a team that understands the full requirements of a Quickstop. We sell them in smaller sizes in Clear and now a new Yellow/Brown packet for fishing with corn and pellets, as well as the popular XL Quickstops, which are great for larger baits or specimen fishing for fish like barbel, carp, bream and tench.

The popular Quickstop Hair Rigs and Quickstop Hook Hairs continue to grow in popularity, and why not? The rigs fit the most popular hooklength retention systems in the Preston Innovations range, making them a first choice for many top feeder anglers. Check them out!

The Boilie Rocket is suitable for boilies up to 15mm diameter, and all other dry particle baits like pellets. It also works brilliantly with maggots and casters.

deadlydronesPredator Expert gary Knowles gives us the lowdown on WHY and WHEN to use the Snapper Drones

With so many shapes and sizes of lure on the shelf it is easy to get confused about what to use. That’s why we’ve enlisted the help of Northern all-rounder and predator expert, Gary Knowles to give us the lowdown on WHY and WHEN you should use the Snapper Drones. Gary knows a thing or two about catching big predators. Having spent many years chasing big fish all over the country, he’s managed to rack up an impressive list of captures. Amongst them a lot of fish caught on rubber lures.

Hopefully with this little guide you’ll have more of an ideal of when to use your lures. Now it’s time to grab your Snapper Spin Rod and get out there!

The Roach Drone has been designed to look like a roach or rudd. Its silvery colour and bright red fins and tail are the ultimate predator attractor.

This Perch Drone looks more like a perch than an actual perch! Its

aggressive, flared gill shape and large tail give this lure a great swimming

action when in the water.

It may look a little bright and garish but this little beauty imitates an attractor bait that has been used in secret for many years.

roach

perch

goldfish

whyThe Roach Drone has a slightly longer body than other roach shapes. This gives it an enhanced action over other rubber lures, imitating a wounded or weaker fish. The roach makes up a big part of pike, perch and zander’s main diet – need we say more?

whyThe stunning green, red and black colouring of this lure makes it the perfect predator attractor. It’s a well-known fact that pike, perch and zander

are highly carnivorous and will

happily eat other predators, especially injured or weaker fish

like this Perch Drone imitates.

whyThere is no doubting the power of a bright orange lure. These have caught countless numbers of pike, perch and zander from a whole host of venues over the years. The big paddle tail on the back of this lure creates a strong swimming action, irresistible to any waiting predator.

whenThe natural look of this super Drone is an ideal choice on clear, natural venues such as gravel pits or low clear rivers. pike, perch and zander will find this irresistible when it’s pulled past them.

whenThe Perch Drone is great on venue with a head of small perch fry and those with a large head of predatory fish. It

is also good in clear water as it

is a very similar imitation of the

small perch in the lake.

whenThe Goldfish Drones is great in murky waters. For either coloured lakes or big flooded rivers, the fluorescent orange colouring and white flashes will be easily seen by your target. Not only a get-out-of-jail card, this is an awesome lure that is soon to have a place in many angler’s lure boxes.
