한민족이 누려온 공예·디자인문화를 진흥시켜 한국인

의 일상은 물론 세계인이 공유할 수 있는 코리아 라이

프 스타일을 계승·확산하기 위해 설립된 문화체육관

광부 소속 공공기관입니다. 공예가와 디자이너, 문화산

업 전문가 등 문화예술계는 물론 학계와 산업계를 중

심으로 한국인의 일상 속에서 공예와 디자인 문화를

누릴 수 있는 계기를 제공하고 관련 기관과의 네트워크

를 통해 연구, 전시, 교육, 출판 등 다양한 사업을 추진

하고 있습니다.

Korea Craft & Design Foundation (KCDF) is a public agency under the auspices of the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism which was founded to promote craft and design culture nourished by the Korean ancestors and to succeed and widely spread Korea’s own traditional lifestyle around the globe. In doing so, the agency aims to provide craftsmen, designers, cultural industry experts and professionals in academic and industrial fields with diverse opportunities to enjoy craft and design culture highlighting Koreans’ daily lives. In addition, it pursues a variety of projects relating to research, exhibition, education and publishing through networks with the relevant institutions.

수천 년 동안 우리 민족이 입어온 한복.

그동안 한복은 ‘명절이나 결혼식, 돌잔치 등 행사 때나

입는 행사복이 되어버렸다. 그 마저도 세대가 바뀌면서

한복은 우리생활에서 점점 멀어져갔다. 그렇지만 상상

의 폭을 조금만 넓히면 한복도 충분히 젊은 세대들에

게 어필할 수 있는 패션 아이템이 될 수 있다.

한복의 생활화 및 실용화는 문화관광부의 지속적인

지원사업의 하나로서 한복의 미적·현대적 실용가치를

발굴하고 확산시키기 위한 다양한 접근을 시도하고 있

다. (재)한국공예·디자인문화진흥원은 한복디자인토

너먼트를 통해 생활화가 가능한 한복디자인 개발과 함

께 신진디자이너를 육성하고, 다큐멘터리 제작 및 언론

매체를 통해 한복의 대중화를 위해 노력하는 젊은 디

자이너들을 소개하고 있다.

The Korean people have worn hanbok for thousands of years.Now, they only wear the traditional dress for special holidays and events such as wedding and first-birthday parties. Younger generations find them unfamiliar and inconvenient.However, with just a little imagination, Hanbok can turn into a fashion item with great appeal for the youth! Popular and practical use of Hanbok has been one of the ongoing goals of the Ministry of Culture. Sports and Tourism, and it has made various efforts to explore and spread the aesthetic and practical values of the traditional dress. The Korea Craft Design Foundation, on its part, develops new practical Hanbok designs and fosters up-and-coming designers through the Hanbok Design Tournament, as well as introducing these designers who strive for the promotion of Hanbok through documentary films and news media.

Festival>Silk, Satin, Wool Silk

The Gut of shamans for the communication between heaven and earth is interpreted as a form of festival to express the excitement and joy in color strips. This apparel design combines ritual and festival in one.

축제>명주, 공단, 울실크

하늘과 인간의 의사소통을 전달하는 무당의 굿

판을 축제의 장으로 해석하여 흥겹고 즐거운 축

제를 색동으로 표현 하고자 했으며, 의식과 축제

를 하나로 엮어서 표현한 의상이다.

Ggokdu>Gauze, Cotton, Silk, Knit, Organza

This design is inspired by “Ggokdu,” the ornament on traditional bier. Ggokdu comes in different forms, including wooden puppets, imaginary animals of dragon and phoenix, plants of peony and lotus flowers, and figures representing guard or guide, hoping that the deceased does not feel lonely on his/her trip to the other world. Ggokdu is placed on bier because it was believed that Ggokdu can travel between this world and the other world, and between the reality and dreams. This design implies the symbolism of Ggokdu instead of its shape.

꼭두>거즈, 면, 실크, 니트, 오간자

전통 상여에 장식되어 있는 “꼭두”로 부터 모티브

를 얻어 디자인을 전개하였다. 꼭두는 망자가 저

승까지 가는 길이 외롭지 않기를 바라는 마음을

담아 만들어진 목우(나무인형)로, 용과 봉황 같

은 상상 속 동물과 모란과 연꽃 등의 식물, 그리고

호위나 안내를 맡은 인물상 등 다양한 형태를 가

지고 있다. 꼭두가 상여에 놓인 것은 이승과 저승,

현실과 꿈 사이를 오가는 존재라고 여겨졌기 때

문이다. 이 디자인은 꼭두의 형태보다 꼭두의 상

징성을 담아내고자 하였다.

The Entertainment and Liveliness of Korean Shamanism>Silk, Cotton, Polyester

This women’s apparel design combines Korean materials and modern materials. It has borrowed the uplifting colors of Korea’s shmanistic rituals and was inspired by the strips of Seonangdang to pray for good fortune and the spiritual connection to heaven.

우리의 샤먼, 그 유희와 생동감

>명주실크, 면, 폴리에스테르

한국적인 소재와 현대적인 소재를 혼합한 여성

기성복으로써 우리네 샤먼의 경쾌한 컬러감을 차

용하였고 우리의 기복신앙에 근거한 서낭당 끈,

하늘과 인간을 연결하는 샤먼의 정신적 끈에 영

감을 받아 디자인에 응용하였다.

Hemp cloth is specially treated to use for daily wear instead of funeral wear. Inspired by the traditional suit of Haenyeo (diving women), this design is created to given the message of hope to young men and women in their 20s.

삼베를 특수 가공처리 하여 수의가 아닌 일반복

에 착용 가능하도록 디자인하였고, 전통 해녀복

을 모티브로 20대에게 희망의 메시지를 담고자

하였다.

Silent Gentleman, Shamanism>Patterned Silk

In the old times, the people had their suppressed desires and worries consoled by Shamanistic ‘Gut.’ Shamans not only connected people to gods, but they also served as psychological therapists who gave the villagers the strength to endure the hardships of life. This role of shamans was expressed using ‘pancho’ with Korean design elements.

고독한 신사, 샤머니즘

>

모본단

옛 시대 사람들은 무당의 ‘굿’을 통해 억압된 욕망

과 근심을 위로 받곤 했다. 무당은 신과 인간을 연

결시켜주는 존재이기도 하지만 그 이전에 마을

사람들을 위로 해주는 심리치료사로서 세상의 풍

파를 맞서 이겨낼 수 있도록 힘이 되어주었다. 이

러한 무당의 역할을 비와 바람에 맞설 수 있는

‘판쵸’라는 의복과 한국적인 요소들을 섞어 표현

하였다.

The Nobleman of the Spirit, by the Spirit, and for the Spirit>Cotton, Polyester

This men’s apparel design originated from sympathy and understanding of the spirit of nobility. Blue is selected as the main color instead of anachronistic value and elaborate techniques to express the founding spirit of our culture and to focus on the beauty of moderated things. The inside expresses the nobility to share with young men who lack confidence and the outside shares the spirit of Korean nobility that is different from the spirit of knights abroad.

선비정신의 공감과 이해에서 출발한 남성 기성복

디자인.

우리의 근간이 되었던 정신을 시대착오적인 가치

와 화려한 기교가 아닌 청색이라는 메인 컬러로

설정하고 정제된 것들 속에서 느껴지는 아름다움

에 집중한 한복이다.

안으로는 자신감을 잃은 젊은이들이 공감할 수

있는 선비의 모습을 표현하고, 밖으로는 외국의

기사도와는 다른 한국인들이 가지고 있는 선비정

신의 존재를 이해시키고자 디자인한 남성복이다.

Communication>Chiffon

Communication was considered the core spirit of nobility to express the thoughts and moderation of nobility as wrinkles. The regular repetition of wrinkles expresses spontaneity, convenience of movement, and repetition of time.

선비 정신의 핵심을 소통으로 해석하여 선비의

사고와 정제된 생활을 주름으로 표현하고자 했으

며, 주름의 규칙적인 반복을 통해 자율성과 율동

의 편의성, 시간의 반복을 나타내었다.

The image of nobility is expressed in various forms of straight lines and women’s outerwear is designed based on the motif of Simui (the outerwear worn by high-class nobility) and the tables of Naju.

선비의 이미지를 직선으로 다각화하여 표현하였

고 심의(예전에, 신분이 높은 선비들이 입던 웃옷)

와 나주반상을 모티브로 여성의 외출복으로 디

Wolhajeongin>Wool Mesh, Polyester, Cotton

This design is inspired by <Wolhajeongin (Lovers under Moonlight)> by Yoon Bok Shin from the Joseon Dynasty. The covering skirt work by the woman in this painting was work by women during the time of Joseon Dynasty to cover their faces and bodies when leaving home. Its design was associated with today’s jacket design. The intention was to reinterpret it into a practical design that is Korean and modern enough to wear today.

울메쉬, 폴리에스테르, 면

조선시대 연인들의 데이트 장면을 그린 혜원 신

윤복의 <월하정인>에서 영감을 받았다. 월하정인

에 등장하는 여인이 쓰고 있는 쓰개치마는 조선

시대 여성들이 외출 할 때 얼굴과 몸을 가리기 위

한 용도로 사용하였는데 이것을 오늘날의 자켓으

로 연상을 하여 디자인을 하였다. 한국적이면서

현재에서도 입을 수 있는 실용적인 디자인으로의

재해석을 의도하였다.

The Nobility of Hongui>Jacquard Cotton

This piece represents the nobility with knowledge and action, such as General Hongui, Jae Woo Gwak, who led the justice army during the Japanese Invasion of 1592.The beautiful elements of Korea are applied to the trench coat of Western apparel that originated from military outfits. Western belt and Korean Dollimgoreum are applied as accents.

자가드, 면

조선 중기 임진왜란이 일어났을 때 많은 의병의

중심에 있었던 홍의장군 곽재우처럼 학식과 행동

이 일치하는 선비들의 모습을 작품에 투영시켜

보았다.

군복에서 시작된 서양의 트렌치코트에 한국의 멋

진 요소들을 얹어보았으며, 서양의 벨트와 한국

의 돌림고름이라는 요소를 섞어 포인트를 주었다.

The Love of Duhyang>Silk

This design is dedicated to the sad love story of Duhyang. The dress is inspired by the rolled-up skirts of Gisaeng during the Joseon Dynasty and the coat is modified to match the glamorous dress.

두향의사랑

>

실크

이루지 못한 ‘두향의 사랑’을 안타까이 여긴 마음

에서 디자인 하였다. 드레스는 조선시대 기생의

걷어 올려 입은 옷자락에서 영감을 얻어 현대적

으로 디자인하였고, 도포의 디자인은 화려한 드

레스와 어울릴 수 있게 변형하여 과감히 디자인

하였다.

The Integrity>Denum, Silk

This design focuses on faith and integrity of nobility. As Confucius emphasized that noblemen should not be ashamed of ragged clothes or food, denim was used in association with his idea. The design of men’s Hanbok trousers was applied to women’s apparel and the draping train of coat was applied to the silk material around the shoulders.

데님, 실크

선비의 정신 중 곧은 절개와 청렴함의 정신에 초

점을 맞추어 디자인을 전개해 나갔다. 더불어 도

에 뜻을 두어 거친 옷이나 음식을 부끄러워하지

않는 인격을 선비의 모습으로 강조한 공자의 말

씀에서 데님 소재를 연상해 주 소재로 이용했다.

선비의 모습에서 남성 한복 바지 디자인을 가져

와 여성복에 이용하였고 휘날리는 선비의 도포

자락은 어깨 부분에 실크 소재를 사용하여 표현

해 보고자 하였다.
