1 Preface

There are two important components of KonyMobileFabric Sync Framework - SyncManagement

Console and Sync Services

Sync Management Console provides a single point of control for monitoring and configures the Kony

MobileFabric Sync console creation process including data integration storage and analysis By

using web based user interface the console requires less training time reduces the number of steps

involved in administration The console provides an opportunity to uphold standard operating

procedures andminimizemanual work by enabling repeatable processes

Sync Services are the services that synchronize data between Client and Enterprise Data Source bi-

directionally

Important Kony recommends using theMobileFabric Installer for deployingMobileFabric 70

onwards

If you are required to install MobileFabricmanually due to your business rules and policies please

contact productsupportkonycom for approval and to obtain access to theMobileFabricmanual

install artifacts Manual installs not approved by Konywill not be supported

11 Purpose

This document provides instructions for installing and configuring KonyMobileFabric Sync Server on

Tomcat

12 Intended Audience

This document is intended for Administrators and Developers responsible for installing and configuring

KonyMobileFabric Sync Server It is assumed that the reader of this document is familiar with

deploying software on Java application serversWebLogic application server and installing database

software

To set up Tomcat for Kony MobileFabric Sync follow these steps

1 Install Tomcat

31 Install Tomcat

To install Tomcat follow these steps

1 Download apache-tomcat from httptomcatapacheorgdownload-70cgi

2 Extract and save the files at a required location on your system (for example Dtomcat 70)

32 Add Driver Jars

To add driver jars follow this step

1 Download and add a jar file under ltTomcat_Installationgtlib folder

2 Based on your database server you can select one of the following jar files for connecting

databases (Console Database Persistent Database and Enterprise Database)

To create SyncConsole Database follow this step

Download and runsql file from your Server Sync console database is created

To execute database scripts using flyway command-line tool refer Configuring FlywayCommand-line

34 Setting up Sync Home Directory

Note To setupmore than one Sync home directory skip the below steps and refer section Setting

UpMultiple SyncHomeDirectories

To set up Sync home directory follow these steps

MobileFabric Sync

1 Create a folder in your directory structure (For example DKonyKonySync inWindows

KonyKonySync in Linux) and assume it as synchome

2 Create a conf directory under it

3 Extract the PropertyFileszip to the conf directory The following files appear

a console-log4jproperties

4 Create the directory structure middlewaremiddleware-bootconfig under synchome and

move middlewareproperties fromconf to middlewaremiddleware-bootconfig

5 Configure synchome and middlewarehome as JVMargument below includingmemory

settings

To create DataSource and Configure JNDI and Hibernate Dialect follow these steps

1 Configure the above JNDI name and hibernate dialect class name by following these steps

a To configure console database details include the following Resource tag in between

To deploy SyncConsole application follow these steps

1 Copy syncconsolewar file and paste it into webapps folder of Tomcat

2 Start Tomcat server from Tomcat Installation Double-click startupbat for windows in

ltTomcat_Installationgtbin folder

3 Access console application from browser using the login URL

6112 Upgrade the MobileFabric Sync Console Database

1 Extract thealter_scripts zip file For information on Downloading alter_scripts

refer section Downloading the Required Files

2 The extracted folder contains the alter scripts for the respective databases used

For example If you are usingMS SQLServer use script file names that look likeconsole-

schema-alter ndashsqlserver-xxxsql the version of the script is xxx

Executing Alter Script Files

If you are upgrading Sync Server from x to y execute all available alter scripts from x to y in ascending

order If there are no alter scripts in between two versions then there is no need to upgrade the

database

Example

1 If you are upgrading Sync Server from version 560 to 600 use the following alter scripts

l console-schema-alter-sqlserver-560sql

Note You need to stop the Tomcat server before you start upgrading KonyMobileFabric Sync

To upgrade property files in Sync Server follow these steps

1 Extract the properties zip file extracted in step 4a from the section Download the Required

2 Navigate toltsynchomegtconf directory and compare the existing property files with

downloaded property files using a tool such as Text Compare

l If there are anymodifications in the files copy themodifications to the existing property

Note Do not change any path in existing property files installed through installer (for

example logs file path inlog4j properties files)

3 If you find any new files in the downloaded property files copy them andmake the necessary

changes For log4j property files you need to change the log file path

1 Replace with your ltsynchomegt path

2 Do not change any dialect related changes in the existing properties that are installed

through installer

6114 Download and Configure SyncTool

Note SyncTool is required under ltsynchomegt directory for 550 551 552 and 553 GA

versions only

1 On Kony community portal communitykonycom go to Resources gt Products Downloads

5 ClickManual Installation

8 Click the SyncTool button to download the Sync tool

9 In your local directory create SyncTool directory underltsynchomegt

10 Extract Sync Tool zip contents under ltsynchomegtSyncTool directory SyncTool directory

contains Sync Tool contents and contains directories such as Database Common Client

and Build

11 Configure SyncToolhome in syncconsoleproperties file using the following code

(Replaceltsynchomegtwith your Sync home path)

To upgrade the WAR files

1 Rename the downloadedWAR files as syncconsolewar and syncservicewar

respectively

2 Backup of oldWAR files

3 Delete the extracted web application folders from Tomcat folder

4 Copy the downloadedWAR files to the Tomcat webapps folder

5 Start the Tomcat Server

6116 Verify MobileFabric Sync Version

To verify if you have upgraded KonyMobileFabric Sync version correctly log on to Sync Console and

click Configuration The Configuration Details screen appears

TheMobileFabric Sync version upgrade details will be updated against the property value of Kony

MobileFabric Sync version

62 Upgrading Tomcat Manually from 56x to 70x

upgrading KonyMobileFabric Sync Framework on Tomcat server from 56x to 70x without an

installer

3 Upgrade WAR Files

Note Youmust stop the Tomcat server before you start upgrading KonyMobileFabric Sync

1 Take the backup of syncservicewar and syncconsolewar from

ltInstallFolderOf5642GAgtapache-tomcat-7052webapps and delete the

extracted syncconsole and syncservice folders

2 Extract the downloaded folder sync-sqlserver-650zip

refer section

For example for MS SQLServer use script file names that look likeconsole-schema-

alter ndashsqlserver-xxxsql The version of the script is xxx

If you are upgrading Sync Server from its current version to newer version execute all available

alter scripts between two versions in ascending order

Example

If you are upgrading Sync Server from version 650 to 700 use the following alter scripts

1 Change the following database related parameters in upgrade scripts and run the script

l replicadatabasehost

l replicadatabaseport

l replicadatabaseinstance

l replicadatabaseuser

l replicadatabasepassword

l uploaddatabasehost

l uploaddatabaseport

l uploaddatabaseinstance

l uploaddatabaseuser

Note The above parameters are obtained from old syncserviceproperties and

syncconsoleproperties (from 65x) For information on downloading the properties

files refer section Properties Files under Download the Required Files

2 Extract the Properties zip file that is downloaded in the section Download the Required Files

Note Do not change any path in the existing property files installed through the

installer Make sure the same JNDI file name in old properties files is present in the

updated properties file

2 Do not change any dialect related changes in the existing properties that are

installed through the installer

To upgrade the WAR files follow these steps

respectively

2 Back up of old WAR files

3 Delete the existing WAR files from the Homeapache-tomcat-7052webapps location

4 Copy the downloaded WAR files to the Tomcat webapps folder

5 Start the Tomcat Server and perform sync sanity on the upgraded server

To verify if you have upgraded KonyMobileFabric Sync version correctly log on to Sync Console

and click Configuration The Configuration Details screen appears

63 Upgrading Tomcat Manually from 60x65x to 70x

If you are required to installupgradeMobileFabricmanually due to your business polices please

install artefacts

Important Manual installs not approved by Konywill not be supported

1 Extract thesyncconsole-ltdatabase namegt zip file For information on Downloading

DB_scripts refer section Download the Required Files

2 The extracted folder contains the upgrade scripts for the respective databases used

Executing Upgrade Script Files

upgrade scripts between two versions in ascending orderThe extracted upgrade scripts will be used

to update the sync console schema from 70xGA to 710xGA They are to be run using flyway

software For updating the extracted scripts follow these steps

1 Download the flyway software from httpflywaydborggetstarteddownloadhtml

2 Extract the flyway folder (flyway-commandline-401-windows-x64zip) to find

flyway-401ltany-available-versiongt

3 Copy the scripts from sync-70xsyncsyncconsole-ltdatabase namegt to

flyway-401sql folder

4 Set the following properties in flyway configuration file flywayconf under flyway-

401conf

a Set the below properties based on the syncconsole dbmachine

b We have to set the 700 schema as baseline for flyway To do that set the below flyway

c Set the placeholder value for SYNC_LOG_LOCATION (With this you will be able to

generate the logs at specified location)

5 Open command prompt under flyway folder flyway-401 and run the below commands

l flyway baseline

Creating a Table space

1 If you are using DB2 as syncconsole database then you need to create a tablespace before

running the 710 script

a Create the Big tablespace with big bufferpool of 32K page size Only DB2 database

administrator (DBA) or equivalent DB user will have access to create database with

default tablespace with particular pagesizebufferpool In DB2 whenever Binary Large

Object (BLOB) and Character LargeObject (CLOB) are used you need to have the

database created with default tablespace aswell as default temp tablespace with big

pagesize of 32k

b To create a LOB tablespace

2 If you are using ORACLE as syncconsole database follow the below steps

a Create the following three tablespaces These tablespaceswill be used tomove already

createdMF database objects which were placed in default USERS tablespace

l Tables and data tablespace MF_DATA

l Index tablespace MF_INDEX

l Lob tablespace MF_LOB_DATA

b You can create these 3 tablespaces in the following way

l Using an SQLPlus or another Database client connect to youOracle database as

Sysdba

l Replace the ltDATA_FILE_PATHgt with actual data file path on theOracle

database server

l Create three tablescapes (MF_DATA MF_INDEX and MF_LOB_DATA) by

executing the command below (you need to grant create tablespace privilege to

ltinstall-usergt)

CREATE TABLESPACE MF_DATA DATAFILE ltDATA_FILE_

PATHgtMF_DATA_01DBF

SIZE 2048M AUTOEXTEND ON NEXT 100M MAXSIZE 5120M

l Provide quota on all the above 3 tablespaces (MF_DATA MF_INDEX and MF_

LOB_DATA tablespaces) to MF database user Map the ltMF-schema-usergt

with all the 3 tablespaces by executing the command below

ALTER USER ltMF-schema-usergt QUOTA UNLIMITED ON MF_

ALTER USER ltMF-schema-usergt QUOTA UNLIMITED ON MF_LOB_

2 Navigate to ltsynchomegtconf directory and replace the existing property files with

downloaded property files

Note Make sure you are retain the property syncservicesjndiprefix from the old

syncconsoleproperties file

1 Take the syncconsolewar and syncservice_tomcatwar from the downloaded

artifacts

2 Rename the syncservice_tomcatwar to syncservicewar

3 Take the backup of oldWAR files

4 Delete the existing WAR files from Homeapache-tomcat-7052webapps location and

copy the downloaded WAR files to the Tomcat webapps folder

5 Start the Tomcat server and perform sync sanity on the upgraded server

MobileFabric Sync can now runmultiple Sync versions on the same application server

To set up multiple sync home directories follow these steps

1 Set the synchome as an app-level variable instead of JVM parameter(-D)

2 Add synchome in the context parameter of the webxml file by entering the following
