Greetings to all Kon Phuket readers! At this moment in time, we cannot refuse that how much the technology has come into play an important role in our lives. It has become a part of our jeweleries, acted on our social status, and probably it is almost another part of our body organs.

If you dont believe it, try switching your mobile phone off for a day or leaving it at home, and not playing a computer or using the Internet or even if you can,

stop using Facebook. I bet you can really get suffered emotionally. In fact, I am also the same. So how come it is possible that way? The reason is simply because in the todays world people want to stay connected all the time and in every possible method; they want to stay social-ized and be recognized about their thoughts and their current status or current location. By this, I dont mean that its not good, however, I just want to to say that even the world does go around everyday, so why we should stop learning, right?

We have to adapt ourselves to changes. It doesnt matter how much it is that you want to change yourself to, but more or less, we ought to learn and adapt to changes. This issue, we have a hip IT girl to be our lovely cover girl and do such nice posts. So please read on.

Miss Somjai Suwansopana, the Mayor of Phuket, announced that the Phuket City Municipality has arranged the Mooncake Festival and a market that sells different kinds of moon-cakes. The dates are the 2nd and 3rd October at the Charlermprakiate 72th Queen Sirikit Park on Thalang Road. This year, there will be not only doing activities, eating mooncakes, admiring the Moon, and pay respects to the Moon, but the Phuket City Municipality will also arrange some activities on sharing some knowledge to support the local culture and traditions.

Even though Phuket is called an international town due to

its multicultural society with people from all over the world, still so many things there tell us that Phuket still re-

serves its own traditional way and style. A very rich friend of mine has come to visit Phuket for so many times, and every time we will go sip wine by the

beach until one of us has to get really drunk. One day, I asked him to go out eating at Lor-Rhoang. The place there you can have a taste for original Phuket food whether it be Pa-Changs fried noodles

with pork spare rib soup, fresh spring rolls, mee-thai noodles, Ao-aeaw cool jelly dessert, Beu-Tord deep fried shrimps with vegetable, and a number of other food and desserts in Phuket style. In the past, we called this place Tai-Ton-Cham-Cha or Under the Kleinhovia HospitaTree. It is because the tree is really big and its tree branches give shades to the food sellers and to the Phuketians and the tourists today.

Although the tree gets very old in time, the delicious tastes of the local food and the ways of life of the local people here have never changed. Though the atmosphere is not very luxurious like hotels and big malls, but the sincerity in their service and the qual-ity of their food have made it the center of the nice local food in Phuket that continue to conserve the traditions of Phuket.

Mr.Wirote: Good Morning. Today I have a very interesting topic, a lot of Phuket people are also very interested in this issue of Maintaining & Re-orgnizing the Beauty of Phuket Town. I am very honored to have Khun Yongyut Intawong, a freelance academician, here today todiscuss the issue with us.Mr.Yongyut: Good Morning.Mr.Wirote: As we have seen these days, there are many main-tenance and re-decor ation going on in Phuket Town to improve the beauty or the scenery of the town particularly the scenery of the electricity poles and tele-phone cable wires.

Mr.Yongyut: Thats right. As you can see, Phuket has the same problem like other provinces in Thai-land about the number of electricity poles, telephone cable wires, billboards, or even trees on streets that have not been well-looked after. These deserve to be maintained and re-organized. It is not strange at all that today they start on solving the problem.

Mr.Wirote: So far, there have been a project that is taking off the electricity poles and put all the electricity wires and other wires underneath the ground.

Mr.Yongyut: A while ago, Thalang Road was the rst place to start with and there will be projects to follow. It will be the same to other streets in the old Phuket Town area.

Mr.Wirote: Im just wondering if we can do like that all at once for the whole town?

Mr.Yongyut: Putting a new system in place is al-ready going to take some time because it is going to affect everybody, the related government body has to consider this very thoroughly anyway. It would be good if we could do it all at once like you said, but in reality, it doesnt always work out that way so easily.

Mr.Wirote: I saw China did it for their old town area, they did not make a change at all, but instead they move the town to a new location. That new town, they have put the new system in place. But for the old town, they just keep it that way, who wants to live there can still live there. The chinese government then nds jobs for them so that they can earn enough to make a living.

Mr.Yongyut: Yes, in some countries with plenty of land resources may do so. However, Phuket has a limited landscapes and land resources. The only thing we should be doing is to try to reserve what we have got, maintained, and re-organized the town system so that the scenery of Phuket Town can be improved. Many other prov-inces in Thailand like Songkla and Mukdaharn can also do the same.

Mr.Wirote: Yes, you are right. This is a valuable point of view that we all should think about. Myself, I still believe that it is not too late for Phuket to start maintaining and improving its scenery and this can be done in many different ways. However, it also requires the support and un-derstanding from the Phuket people as well. Thank you very much.
