KBS Khandala embarked upon this journey in the year 2003 as a fully-residential business school, in collaboration with the Sprott School of Business, of Carleton University, Canada, that offered an Undergraduate Programmeme in International business. The approval from AICTE in the year 2008 to begin an autonomous Programmeme in PGDM was a natural consequence to our endeavours of collaboration that we have been pursuing to sinew our vision.

KBS Khandala provides a platform that enables a vibrant exchange of intellectual ideas, equip its students with the technical knowledge

and management expertise. Our students benefit from the latest-in-management-practices and research-driven management theories and applications because we have carefully woven those management practices and research-driven management theories into our teaching curriculum. Furthermore, our faculties use case-studies and articles drawn from noted business journals and research publications like Harvard Business Review, The Economist Intelligence Unit of Economist, a UK weekly publication and so forth.

KBS Khandala provides vibrant intellectual exchange and equips students with the technical knowledge & management expertise to work in any role across the world.

In the absence of any credible accreditation system for quality check of Indian B-Schools, ranking is perhaps the only way to evaluate competency of management institutions. Ranking results published by a few agencies help students to decide selection of the business school in a more realistic and objective manner.

Kohinoor Business School Khandala participated in CSR-GHRDC B-School ranking survey for the first time in 2007. Each year it went through many rigorous evaluations and compelling feedbacks on its performance by experts over several days. It is evident from the results of the past five years the growing improvement in the school on all parameters which led to being Ranked as # 1 B-school of Excellence in 2011 - CSR- GHRDC Ranking Survey 2011

Overwhelming Ranking – #1 B School of Excellence

Greetings from Mentor Greetings from DirectorGreetings from Chaiman

The rapid globalization of business calls for a different type of leader in the future. Kohinoor Business School & Center for Management Research (KBS Khandala) is one of the most innovative business schools with excellent teaching and research resources. At KBS Khandala our aim is to help students grow into the business leader they need to become: one who is creative and confident in a wide range of functions; one who can operate in cross-cultural environment, in any industry and one who knows how to achieve results. In short “we will make it our business, to transform a student’s future.”

The metamorphosis that we proactively seek in a student that helps him/her craft their future is a well-thought-through process that begins with integrating learning and development of conceptual knowledge to real-life business scenario. Whilst, our endeavour is to collaborate with the corporate houses to understand the ever-changing business environment and imbibe it in our curricula and the students who pass-out of our institute, well-prepared to take-up the gauntlet thrown at them, by the dynamic business climate and the corporate houses, they become part of.

Dr. B. P Verma Ph. D., M.B.A., M.B.E., M.Com.Director, Kohinoor Business School Khandala

Corporate organizations and research institutions today are looking for people who are forthright, dedicated, skilled and hardworking.

The Post graduate program in Business management at the Kohinoor Business School & Center for Management & Research (KBS Khandala) occupies an imperial position today by imparting quality business education, relevant to the realities of the corporate environment. Since the course is an amalgamation of managerial concepts and economic theories, interspersed with practical acquaintances the institute has been fostering a positive and growing interaction with the business houses, research institutes and planning bodies of both national as well as international repute. Corporate-houses have always showed a keen interest in the activities of the institute and have been enthusiastic in recruiting the young business executives to be part of their managerial teams.

The young students of the current batch come from diverse backgrounds such as commerce, engineering, economics, management and sciences and were selected on the basis of a procedure including a rigorous test, interview, and group discussion, conducted on an all India basis. They have been trained and nurtured to think independently, to be value driven, to strive for excellence in every sphere and be upright in their role as decision makers. I take this opportunity to invite the corporate houses and research institutions alike to join hands with us towards building a better and stronger future for the nation.

Shri Unmesh Joshi Chairman – Kohinoor Education Trust

Twenty first century has opened a myriad of opportunities for nations that were once written off. Countries that were once considered pillars of strength, stability and development of the world, find themselves engulfed with many economic problems. It is clear that the education which revolutionized awareness about management science, from the early 1900 – Fayol’s Principles of Management to Porter’s 5-Forces of Competition- has not changed. However, the manner in which thoughts are assimilated, shared and taught are changing day by the day for improved relevance to the real world. In rapidly developing markets like India, business schools therefore have to continuously evolve to satisfy need of the complex environments and its stakeholders.

Having been associated with some of the best companies around the world through consulting assignments and corporate training and also as a Senior Professor of XLRI Jamshedpur for over three decades, I am aware of the changing contour of expectations of the industry from our young managers.

As a mentor of KBS Khandala, I am very excited to help its management and students by building an enviable network of academicians, corporate professionals and others that would help the institution to grow many folds in the years to come. I invite my alumunus from XLRI Jamshedpur to extend their help in creating an institution of excellence.

KBS Khandala – Oriflamme of Management Education

At KBS Khandala, our dedication to academic excellence, an environment of inventiveness that fuels imagination: a key ingredient to being innovative, an ability to understand the needs of organization through our collaborative endeavours with corporate-groups makes us first among equals.

What makes us stand apart in a crowd are:

Outstanding Education

We are ranked amongst the top 15 emerging B-Schools in India; our young and dynamic faculty, with international exposure assures the highest learning outcome to all our PGDM/MBA-aspirants.

Global Collaborations

We have forged tie-ups with leading international Universities like Carleton University and Business schools like Algonquin College and Sobey School of Business of Canada for academic collaborations in order to maintain global standards in academic-curriculum.

Heterogeneity

Our students come from all corners of this country; it creates a cultural mix that is appropriate and representative of a truly diverse background of individuals. This creates an opportunity for our students to know, respect and tolerate other cultures, making them matured individuals, quite capable enough, to acclimate to global diversity that globalization demands.

Exceptional Return-on-Investment

The remuneration package that students are offered, after their successful completion of their PGDM Programme by companies, are far higher than any average expectations. It is always within the first year that students recoup what they have invested in, when they invest in Kohinoor Business School & Centre for Management Research’s PGDM Programme.

Vantage-point – Location

The proximity of Kohinoor Business School & Center for Management Research, to Mumbai, India’s financial capital and Pune, considered the Detroit of India as also an upcoming hub for IT/ITES companies, gives us an extra-edge over others, who lose over one of these places to the other. As we see it, we have opportunities in plenitudes to be tapped from what both those cities offer to our students.

Lifestyle

Khandala is a nature’s basket in that it has all the essential elements of nature in it. Living in this calm and quiet locale not only makes living a peaceful experience it also adds excitement in the form of out-door activities like trekking, mountaineering, paragliding.

It is in a healthy body that a healthy mind dwells. Our campus is a perfect setting in that it binds both activities for mind – within the campus and activities for the body – outside the campus. Whilst providing adequate freedom to the wards, we insist upon a few disciplinary measures to ensure that our campus remains conducive, for the overall development of an individual.

The Program is offered over a period of two years in six trimesters of about three months each. The first term will immerse the students in modern enterprise-from the economic theory of the firm, to the valuation of the business and the choice of strategy and management skills. The goal of these core courses and those in the second term is to provide a breath and depth of knowledge that will allow you to approach any business situation with confidence and understanding.

Develop Your Understanding: The first year completes this foundation with a look at the role of marketing, accounting, Information Systems, Business Law, Operations Management and others. It also addresses the broader issues of corporate governance and social responsibility, a crucial part of

any modern manager’s understanding. In the third term of the first year, basics of electives are introduced to make the student understand them in depth which subsequently will help them in deciding the elective in the second year.

Choose Your Own direction: During the second year, KBS Khandala offers a chance to explore personal interests of students through a series of electives. These are often taught by visiting experts or by faculty in association with practitioners bringing together academic rigour and hand-on expertise. Our students come from all corners of India. This creates a cross-culture and diverse background for the students to interact with each other and understand the diverse cultures of this nation. It not only promotes the feeling of respect towards other cultures but also imbibes in these students the aspect of co-existence – a crucial factor – for the well being of a healthy society, for it is a healthy society that promotes overall development; a society that respects each and every individual and all human beings that dwell within. KBS KHANDALA creates this experience keeping in mind the greater goal of preparing our students to embrace ‘globalization’ – a wave of free mobility of resources – including human resources – in a seemingly borderless environment, making the entire globe appear like a village!

Just as diverse is their cultural background their educational background too has a similar diversity in that there is a mix of engineering, science, commerce and arts students imparting a diverse knowledge to the learning of management principles. Learning becomes interesting when too many different people carry with them equally diverse and different perspectives un-limiting their imagination posing seemingly innocuous questions! When your imagination is limitless it becomes the most conducive environment for creativity – setting the stage for innovativeness!
