This particular flower was made with medium yarn, 45%wool, 55%
bamboo viscose and with the 4 mm hook.
Finished flower with a faux pearl bead accent
Here’s a pattern for the big flower:
Row 1: ch 6, join with a sl st
Row 2: ch 3, 17 dc inside the loop created with the 6 ch, join
with the sl st into the 3d ch of ch 3 (18 stitches)
Row 3: ch 3, skip 2 sts, sl st into the next st, repeat until
the 18th st (6 loops of 3 ch)
Row 4: sc, hdc, 3dc, hdc, sc in every loop around (6 petals)
Row 5: ch5, insert the hook into the 2nd ch of row 3 skipped
chains, from the back (while your flower is still facing you the
RS), sl st, ch 5 and repeat, end with a slip st. (6 loops of 5 ch,
underneath your first flower)
Row 6: sc, hdc, 5 dc, hdc, sc in every loop making 6 petals, sl
st to end the row
Row 7: same as row 5, except your sl st goes in the remaining
1st chain of the row 3 skipped chains, end with a sl st (6 loops of
5 ch, underneath your first two flowers)
Row 8: repeat row 6, end with a sl st, BO.
Finished size came to be about 3″ wide.
If you are confused with the descriptions the following pictures
will help.
Row 2 (18 sts)
Row 3 and 4 completed, first step of row 5 - chain 5
This is that tricky and hard to explain move you make in row 5.
Inserting the hook into 2nd skipped chain, from the back, with my
work facing me.
this is what the previous action looks like from the side and
back of our work
End of row 5, you can see the loops in the back of my work, I'm
staring on the row 6 in this image as well
Row 6 finished
In the middle of row 7, hook is in the remaining 1 st of the row
3 skipped stitches, and you can see finished loops, this is the
back of work picture
VOILA the flower is finished!
Now you must have noticed the smaller flowers on the first image
and wondering if it’s done the same way. Not quite. For the smaller
flower I used the same yarn, but smaller hook. It was hook D,
3-3.25mm.
The pattern is the same except you will change row 2, you only
need 14 dc to make 15 sts total. And all the following rows will be
the same, only you will have 5 loops and 5 petals instead of 6. The
finished size for a smaller flower is around 2 inches wide. Here
are more pictures of the smaller flower:
smaller flower 15 sts total in the 2nd row
Here is our ch 5 of the row 5
the awkward sl st into the skipped chain of row 3
back of our work with the 5 loops finished
Finished flowers. Large with 3 rows of 6 petals. 2 Small flowers
with 2 and 3 rows of 5 petals. Front
