KNIGHTS of COLUMBUS NEWSLETTER FATHER NICHOLAS RAUSCH OSB COUNCIL 1643
SAINT FRANCIS of ASSISI ASSEMBLY 1183 http://www.kofc1643.com
really helped to make this tourney a success. I can’t
name all of those who helped – there were 18
knights that stepped up to make this a successful
event, but I will point out that the roasted pig,
donated by Western Meats in Tumwater, was put on
the spit at 6:00 am and tended all day long by Phil
Descoteaux and his crew – I think the roasted pig
was the best we’ve ever had. Volunteers from Holy
Family School did the set up, serving and clean up
of the kitchen. Thank you ALL for working to
support Catholic Education. This year the winner of
the putting contest won the opportunity to sink a 60
foot putt for $2,500. Sean made a great attempt and
missed by a matter of a few inches.
We had 60 golfers this year about the same as last
year. Spread the word and see if we can’t beat that
number next year.
I are fortunate to have been elected as delegate to
the K of C, Supreme Convention being held in
Minneapolis – Saint Paul from Tuesday August 6th
thru Thursday, August 8. It has been on my bucket
list for some time. Both Elaine and I are excited to
have this opportunity.

Because Our Lord Served Us
Nehemiah 8:10 - For the joy of the Lord is our strength.
By: John Zyrkowski
Council 1643 members have been experiencing many spiritual gifts from Our Lord that have aided in their lives and
the lives of others. This is the fourth in a series of articles that addresses published experiences of other believers.
Shown on EWTN: “Deacon Julio: No Greater Love”.
2:00m: Told parents tried to abort him twice and it failed twice.
3:40m: Had to drop out of seminary because his mother needed his help when cancer was discovered in her. His mother though, was cured of a cancer tumor in her head from a blessing by Pope John Paul II while passing in a motorcade in Mexico. He was then able to return to seminary.
5:45m: Doubt came the night before his ordination as a Deacon. Felt peacefulness when he understood it was God’s work he be ordained.
7:40m: When the Bishop laid hands upon him, “everything stopped”.
9:15m: If God’s is calling you, do not be afraid of a call to vocations.
Executive saved from dying in a boardroom John C. Zyrkowski III, V.P. International Engineering, Clark Equipment Company, Buchanan, MI
Heavy Equipment Division. Witnesses: Future President of Company, President of Brazilian Division, U.S. and European Division Directors, and other senior group managers.
“The European Division Director had arrived for a meeting at the company headquarters with all the senior executives of the group. He had flown overnight and had taken antihistamines on the plane because of a severe cold.
During the meeting the European Director collapsed upon the floor. I was across the room and ran over to his side. The Brazilian President had also run to his side. Others had run out to seek help and call for the EMTs.
The Brazilian President noted that the European Director was not breathing, so he put his finger in his mouth, but could not open his jaw. It was clenched shut. He then looked in the collapsed man’s mouth and it looked as if he had swallowed his tong.
The European Director was turning blue and I was kneeling near his chest. I had previously had this situation occur when I was in the Peace Corps in Guatemala. I had been trained in basic CPR then and had tried those techniques, but the person had died.
I said a short prayer and heard a voice tell me to push very hard on his chest. I instantly pushed on his chest with all my weight and the force pushed his tongue out releasing his ability to breath.
He began breathing and after a few breaths rose up on his elbow and asked what had happened. After about 20 minutes, the EMTs arrived and said that if I had not pushed on his chest as hard as I did, he would have died before they arrived.
I was congratulated by everyone, but could not tell them how I learned what to do. Throughout my career, I had these insights after prayer, but could not tell my bosses or associates where the knowledge came from. Most were non-believers and I did not want to be classified as crazy. Instead, most classified me as some kind of “genius” and would promote me ever higher in the organizations.”
