Narrated by Dustin Hoffman, JEWS AND BASEBALL: AN AMERICAN LOVE STORY ex-plores the connection between Jewish Americans and America’s national pastime. The feature-length documentary tells a story of immigration, assimilation, big-otry, heroism, the passing on of traditions and the shattering of stereotypes. Interviews feature

fans, writers, executives and play-ers, including Al Rosen, Kevin Youkilis, Shawn Green, Norm Sherry, Ron Blomberg, Bob Feller, Yogi Berra and legendary Hall of Fame pitcher Sandy Koufax. JEWS AND BASEBALL interweaves powerful personal and historical stories with an extraordinary collection of rare archival footage and photos, and a musical score ranging from Benny Goodman to Yo-Yo Ma to Rush. Airs Sunday, January 8 at 9 pm

FAMILIES MATTER is a new KLCS-TV monthly series, co-hosted by Board Presi-dent Monica Garcia and Chief of School, Family and Parent/Community Services, Maria Casillas. There are two episodes each week, one in English and one in Spanish. The program emphasizes the im-portant role that families play in their child’s education and how engaging parents with their children and their schools is the most effective way to improve student achieve-ment. As co-host Maria Casillas says: “A teacher is with students just a few hours a day, but they are with their family most of the time.” Families Matter is set in a warm, “kitchenesque” environment, which is sym-bolic of where families gather to discuss the issues that matter most. And that issue, for Families Matter, is the linking of parents, schools, and communities in support of education for all children. Airs Tuesdays at 12:30 pm and 6:30 pm

THE HORSEMEN COMETH follows the world’s only P-51 Mustang formation aerobatic team as they harness the grace and power of the legendary “Cadillacs of the Sky.” The film documents the journey of three renowned air show pilots as they attempt to tame these vintage fighters and showcase the plane’s heritage at air shows around the world. Shot in stun-ning high definition, THE HORSEMEN COMETH gives viewers a chance to vicariously experience the heart-pounding ride of risk and reward undertaken by these daring pilots. Cameras go into the cockpits and the skies as the pilots deftly fly in lock-step formation while performing dramatic aerial maneuvers. In addition to these thrilling flight segments, the documentary introduces the mechanics and engineers responsible for main-taining and fixing the vintage planets, the World War II veterans who once flew the Mustangs, and James Horner, the award-winning composer who wrote the score for this special. Airs Sunday, January 22 and Tuesday, January 24 at 9 pm

Meet the mob of street-smart kangaroos moving into Aus-tralia’s capital city and the ecologists who follow their every move in NATURE: KANGAROO MOB. Over the course of one drought-stricken year, follow mob leader, Black Spot, and kangaroo mother, Madge, with her two young joeys — mischievous Sonny and tiny pouch-bound Alice. This is a look at what happens when human development encroaches on wildlife habitat and two very different species are forced to co-exist. Airs Monday, January 16 at 7 pm and Sunday, January 22 at 5 pm

COME WALK IN MY SHOES provides a fresh, first-person perspective on the nonviolent protests that challenged segregation laws in the South and prompted the passage of the Voting Rights Act in 1965. During the film, Congressman John Lewis (D-GA) leads colleagues from the U.S. House of Representatives and Senate, religious leaders and others on an emotional pilgrimage to the “sacred sites” of the civil rights movement. At each location, Lewis reflects on his experiences and introduces the unsung heroes of the marches and voting challenges of the 1960s. The journey begins in Montgomery, Alabama, where the then-18-year-old college student first met Martin Luther King, Jr. and ends on the Edmund Pettus Bridge in Selma, where an angry mob brutally beat the future congressman while leading a peaceful march. Airs Sunday, January 15 at 9 pm

During World War II, Hitler’s scientists developed terrifying new weapons of mass destruction. Alarmed by rumors about advanced rockets and missiles, Allied intelligence recruited a team of bril-liant minds from British universities and Hollywood studios to a country house near London. Here, they secretly pored over millions of air photos shot at great risk over German territory by specially con-verted, high-flying Spitfires. Peering at the photos

through 3D stereoscopes, the team spotted telltale clues that revealed hidden Nazi rocket bases. The photos led to devastating Allied bombing raids that were crucial setbacks to the German rocket program and helped ensure the success of the D-Day landings. With 3D graphics that recreate exactly what the photo spies saw, NOVA: 3D Spies of WWII tells the suspenseful, previously untold story of air photo intelligence that played a vital role in defeating Hitler. Airs Thursday, January 19 at 9 pm and Tuesday, January 24 at 7 pm

DESIGNING HEALTHY COMMUNITIES is a multimedia project that highlights people and communities trying to balance health and nature with work, play, and life, and offers best practice solutions for all citizens. Stories and methodologies explored in Designing Healthy Communities point the way toward a healthy and sustainable future. Airs Tues-days at 9 and 10 pm beginning January 24

Bill Moyers returns on-air and online in January 2012 with MOYERS & COMPANY, a weekly hour of compelling and vital conversation about life and the state of American democracy, featuring some of the best thinkers of our time. A range of scholars, artists, activists, scientists, philosophers and newsmakers bring context, insight and meaning to important topics. The series occasionally includes Moy-ers’ own timely and penetrating essays on society and government. In a multimedia marketplace saturated with shallow sound bites and partisan name-calling, MOYERS & COMPANY digs deeper. As the Los Angeles Times put it in 2010, “No one on television has centralized the discussion of ideas as much as Moyers... He

not only gives a forum to unusual thinkers, he is truly interested in what they have to say and who they are because he believes their ideas really matter. Airs Sundays at 10 pm beginning January 15

It is 1916, and World War I has shaken Downton Abbey to its very foundations. As a way of life is forever blasted apart, both heroes and villains struggle to survive and forge ahead. Maggie Smith, Hugh Bonneville, and Elizabeth McGovern return with a stellar ensemble cast in the vora-ciously-anticipated season 2 of MASTERPIECE: DOWN-TON ABBEY from Primetime Emmy Award® winning writer Julian Fellowes. Series begins airing Wednesday, January 18 at 8 pm and Saturday, January 21 at 11 pm

In INTERPRETING ANCIENT CHINESE FASHION, two fash-ion designers — Jude Gabbard and fourth-generation Chinese-Amer ican Co l leen Quen — seek inspira-tion on their first visit to China. They skip cosmopolitan Shang-hai and head straight to one of China’s most remote and poorest areas, Guizhou Province. There, Colleen and Jude visit the ancient villages of the Miao (Hmong) and Buyi people, where the villagers help them decode the recurring motifs on their clothing. Then, the pair takes a hands-on approach to learning about wax-dye batiks, embroidery, silver jewelry, unusual hairstyles and adornments — and they explore the layers of meaning behind these unique designs and accessories. Once back in the United States, Colleen and Jude debut their China-inspired collections at a San Francisco art gallery. Airs Monday, January 23 at 9 pm

BETWEEN THE LINES: SEVEN KEYS TO UNLOCK AUTISM offers educators and parents specific techniques to reach “seemingly unreachable” children with autisms. Elaine Hall tells viewers how using these ideas can help teachers and parents get optimal results from their autistic children. Airs Saturday, January 21 at 8 pm and Wednesday, January 25 at 7:30 pm
