The tournament will be held on 4 days, beginning on the of 5 th of January and ending on the 8 th of January 2017 at the Navi Mumbai Sports Association, Vashi, Navi Mumbai 10 teams will be split into 2 groups-A and B, with each group consisting of 5 teams each. Each team will play the remaining 4 teams in the group Once and the top 2 teams in either group would go ahead to play the Semi – Finalsand the Finals. The format is a Best of 7arrangement where all the matches in the tie will have to be played during the group stage.

The first Edition of the ‘’United Maharashtra Badminton League’’ will be open to all players from
the State of Maharashtra, including those ex-State players who now play for any government

The ‘Best of 7’ Format is as under
o Men’s Open Doubles 1 o Men’s Open Singles 1 o Women’s Singles o Mixed Open Doubles o Veteran Doubles (Minimum age 35 of both players as on 01/01/2017) o Men’s Open Singles 2 o Men’s Open Doubles 2
One tie would consist of 7 matches as mentioned above and 1 point would be awarded for each match
won, with the exception of a team winning the tie 6-1 or 7-0, in which case a Bonus Point would be
awarded to the team.
Each Playing Member in the team can play only 1 Match per Tie.
If at the end of 4 matches two teams have the same number of points, then the number of ties won would
be considered, if that too remains the same, then the total number of games won would decide who goes
through to the Semi-finals.
Each match in the tie will be 3 games of 15 points each, however, the semis and finals would be 3
games of 21 points each, with a difference of 2 points in both the cases.
The captain of each team will give the tie sheet half an hour before the start of play.
The laws of badminton as per Badminton World Federation (BWF) shall apply.
The tournament is an invitational tournament extended towards the Top Maharashtra players
across the Men’s, Women’s and Veteran’s Category.
The players would be picked up by way of an auction with each team consisting of 11 players, and
3 substitutes, 1 sub each in the men’s, women’s and veterans’ category taking the team total to
14.
Each team would be guided by 1 Coach / Team Manager who would be assigned to one of the
owners well before the Auction Day.
The Player’s base price would be decided by the tournament committee based on previous
performances in State and National Level tournaments.
If a Player is picked up in the Auctions, the price at which he is bought for in a team, would
directly go to the player and will be handed over to the player on the 7th of January, the last day
of the group stage matches.
The list of players who are eligible to participate in the tournament are mentioned in Annexure-A
below. If any other player wishes to participate in the tournament, He/ She too can send His/ Her
entry, and all such entries will be considered by the Tournament Committee on a case by case
basis.
