Sound artist Dennis Wong (aka Sin:Ned) is bringing the performance Audio Lotus to the North District. On his walk around the community,
Dennis will carry a lotus-shape sculpture, with which he could collect and transform the sounds surrounding him into some unique soundscape.
In the student workshop, Dennis and Jacklam Ho will instruct the method of making the lotus-shape sculpture in a mini scale. Every participant will have their own version of Audio Lotus to interact
with the sounds in North District.

在這個為學生而設的工作坊, 我們邀請了柬埔寨作曲家 Him Sophy向參加者講解「音樂風箏」的起源,以及它對柬埔寨文化的重要性。屆時學生將學習製作具個性的音樂風箏,並於翌日在大尾篤試放。
In this kite-making workshop for students, we will have Cambodian composer Him Sophy give a talk
about the history and the cultural significance of the Khleng Ek (musical kite) in Cambodia. Students will make their own singing kites,
which will be flown in Tai Mei Tuk on the next day.
Take part! All ages.

Him Sophy is the Professor of Music at the Royal University of Fine Arts and the Royal Academy of
Cambodia. His compositions cover a wide range of instrumentations and genres,
including music for dance, film and musicals.

單車鈴將自己化成微風的音符,一同演出前衛音樂巨匠莫里西歐・卡格爾的《隨風》(1996)。

111 cyclists transform into a gust blowing across Sheung Yue River. Eine Brise (A Breeze) is a musical performance with 111 cyclists creating a medley of
whistling, singing, bells ringing, flutter-tonguing and vocal gusts of wind.

The Asian première of Inuksuit takes place on the green lands of Hong Kong. Listen to the magic of Inuksuit as you wander through
the intertwined sounds of nature and percussion.
About Inuksuit (2009)Composer: John Luther Adams
“Inuksuit” are stone markers built by the Inuit and other native peoples to orient themselves in Arctic spaces. These human-shape structures
scattered around the northern wilds of North America become the inspiration of American composer John Luther Adams, the 2014 Pulitzer Music Prize winner. Scored for 9 to 99
percussion players dispersed in an outdoor area, Inuksuit is music performed alongside the sounds of nature,
a work that brings a community to take stock of its surroundings and fold seamlessly into the
“Kites, Bikes and Roving Musicians” is a North District community arts education project presented by the Hong Kong New Music Ensemble. Through a series of free contemporary music performances and workshops, this project takes the audience into the depths of North District to re-discover and explore the community.
