• Kitchen deals with a wide range of themes.• Group work – 6 groups work on ONE different theme

card each. (HANDOUT#5)• How are these important themes presented by the

quotations? Consider Yoshimoto’s use of imagery, symbolism, choice of diction and language techniques.

• What feelings do the quotations evoke? How?• Write a very short (20-30 words) analysis of each

quotation on your theme card.• Everyone will in turn name their theme to the class,

read their quotes and present their findings.
