Introduction

Greetings! Kings of the Realm Online follows in the footsteps of Kings of the Realm, and in many aspects is very similar to it. However, there are some very exciting changes and new features that we’d like to introduce in this document to make sure you have the best gaming experience possible.

New Features

We are proud to announce new and exciting features that we hope our old players will appreciate and new players will enjoy, including a brand new Territory Capture System, an overhaul of Shrines, expanded Alliance Interactions and reworked buildings, military structure and, leaderboards.

Territory Capture One of the most exciting aspects of the new game is the brand-new Territory Capture System. Realm Towers and Shrines will no longer belong to whoever puts a commander on them. Instead, from Province 2 onwards, each Realm will have a War & Peace schedule (not always synchronous) that they adhere to. By default, Realms are at Peace. During Peace, Players can’t occupy Towers, but can still attack other Players and Shrines and prepare for war. However, once the Peace timer runs out, the Realm is again at War. During War, Alliances must compete for the Realm by trying to occupy the Realm Tower for the longest time. Note that this is a Free-for-all, so Alliances from far and away might turn up to compete for the Realm you had eyes on. By occupying the tower (by putting a commander on it), you will contribute towards the total time of your Alliance, which you can track in the War Leaderboard. Note that Gatehouses must either be unoccupied or occupied by your own Alliance in order to be able to hold the Tower. To view the Leaderboard, simply click on the War Timer on the upper-center portion of your screen. You can also see who’s leading in the Leaderboard using the banners above the timer.

Note that all screenshots used are from the Beta and are subject to

change. Once the War Timer runs out, the Realm will go into Turmoil, a short period of sudden death time where the TOP 2 Alliances from the previous War Stage compete against each-other for ultimate control of the Realm Tower. After Turmoil, the Realm will once again be at Peace, but not for long. For the benefits of holding a Realm, make sure to read the New Shrines section.

New Shrines Previously, all Realms came with a default set of Shrines. In the new game, Alliances that control Realms get to choose what Shrines to build in that Realm. The Shrine will then provide bonuses to all Alliance Members in that Realm. Shrines provide substantial buffs to Attack, Defense, Healing Time and Moving Speed in order to ensure you can crush your enemies when you need to, and even a powerful Shield to protect all Alliance Members in the realm from harm. Players should note that building and upkeeping Shrines costs Alliance Tokens (more on this below), so once you get Shrines you must work even harder to earn your bonuses. The amount of Shrines you can build is limited by Shrine Points, which differ based on the Province of the Realm you conquered. But beware, for when a Realm changes ownership after a War, all previously built Shrines will be destroyed. Also note that Shrines can be attacked during Peace, so if you want to keep your Shrines in top condition for War, you must always stay vigilant.

New Alliances We have expanded upon the Alliance system to both make it more immersive, but also to allow us continually add more awesome Alliance features in the future. Aside from having exclusive access to Shrines, they also share an internal economy where all Alliance Members must work in cooperation to get new members and gain more land. There are two funds that a Member can and should contribute to. The first is Alliance Level, which demands a certain amount of Silver. Once the desired amount is donated collectively, the Alliance levels up and has space for more members, ensuring the Alliance is stronger. The second is Alliance Tokens. Players can donate Silver, Food, Wood, Stone and Ore here (at differing conversion rates) to get Alliance Tokens. These Tokens are used to build and maintain Shrines, which will provide your Alliance with bonuses to help you stand against your enemies. Make sure you contribute your fair share, or your Alliance could fall behind, or worse yet, your Allies may turn against you for your lack of commitment! See the following pages for the new Alliance Interface.

New 3D Map We are very excited to announce a new, fully 3D map. This map will replace the old 2D map and hopefully make your experience a lot more fun visually, while also opening up many more opportunities for exciting features in the future.

New Province Map

We also have a new (Work in Progress) Province Map, intended to show Players the ever-changing landscape of Warfare. Players can use this map not only to travel between Realms, but also to learn about the latest political developments. Fight well, and your Alliance’s banner will paint the map, proving your superiority over all others!

New Buildings We have expanded our building registry to allow for a more in-depth research progression. We also introduced a new military cap system that functions through the Civic District, explained further below. Military Buildings Military buildings now have levels corresponding to the Research level of the troops they are tied to. By building higher levels of Military buildings, you unlock new equipment for your troops, increasing their attack, defense and carrying capacity. There are six levels of equipment and therefore six levels of buildings, and while your troops may start as rookies, with the right equipments, they’ll be an unstoppable force, filling your enemies’ hearts with fear. Civic Buildings Civic buildings now increase the newly introduced Military Cap. Military Cap is there to ensure that you don’t have too many idle troops making management difficult while also providing a challenge for higher level players. By building the relevant Civic Building you can expand your Cap and therefore increase the size of your standing armies. New Leaderboards Finally, the Leaderboards were updated to better reflect a Player’s standing in the game. The Orcs Leaderboard will display a cumulative value based on the Orc Camps a Player has defeated to date. The second new Leaderboard named [ALLIANCE_ORCS] will do the same for Alliances, where the total score of all members will determine an Alliance’s standing. -- The Kings of the Realm team is very excited about not only these changes, but also for new features we will be releasing in the near future. We appreciate your patience with the game in the last few months, and welcome new players during this Early Access Beta. Don’t forget to share your feedback with us and keep following us for more updates, your input and help is vital for our future plans for Kings!

The Basics Kings of the Realm Online is a game that lets you build your own settlement, wage wars against monsters and other players and win loot to increase your power. It also lets you form alliances with other players to rule over realms and grow even stronger. Below are some reminders for our new and returning players; Your Settlement Your Settlement is where you produce resources, construct buildings and train and equip your troops. It is the support centre which allows you send your commanders and their armies out on raids and conquests. However it is also the target for your enemies, who will in turn raid your settlement to steal your valuable resources, so you must also protect it by building walls and defending armies..

Your Alliances You can also make friends with other players, form alliances to share resources and gain bonuses. A strong alliance is vital to be able to protect you and ensure your dominance as you progress through the game.

Your Armies Your armies are led by epic and famous Commanders you can recruit for your cause. They gain experience as they lead assaults on orc camps and other players, and in time will be able to command thousands of elite troops. Your troops are unlocked through military buildings and you must continually train them and equip them with the best weapons and armor to ensure your safety in this new land.
