THESTORYSOFAR:Ourstorybeganwithaoffscreenelderlywomanis

tellinghergranddaughterastoryabouthowtheworldsoncelivedinpeaceunderlight,butthatdarknessovercamemanypeopleoncetheystartedfightingoverit.However,thechildren,usingtheirfragmentsoflight,remadetheworld,thoughitwasnowdividedintopieces.Oncethisstoryisover,theopeningplayswiththethemesongSimpleandClean(PlanitBRemix)sungbyUtadaHikaru.

Afterthethemesong,wecuttoNealwakinguptofindthatheissomehowonastainedglassplatforminthemiddleofablackvoid.Amysteriousvoicecallsouttohimasamysteriousblademagicallyappearsinhishand.What'sstrangeaboutthisswordisthatit'sshapedlikeagiantkey.ThevoicecallsittheKeybladeandsaysitspurposeistofightbackagainstthedarkness.

Justthen,mysteriousmonsters,thevoicecallingthem"Heartless,"appearfromnowhereandthevoicetasksNealtodefeatthem.Obviouslyconfused,NealneverthelessswingshisbladeanddefeattheHeartless.NealmakesacommenttohimselfthattheKeybladeisn'tasword,but"agiantmetalbeatstick."

Suddenly,thefloorbreaksbeneathNealandhefallsthroughtheblackvoid.Heeventuallylandssurprisinglysafelyonanotherstainedglassfloor.

AsNealregainshiscomposure,henoticestwootherolderkids,a"AfricanAmerican"boy(Brendon)anda"Asian"girl(Yumiko),alsocarryingweaponsthatlikekeys.InBrendon'scase,hecarriessomethingsimilartoNeal'sbladeyetdesignedforwhatappearstobealongrifle.ForYumiko,shecarriesabowwitharrowsthatappeartolooklikekeys.

Aftertheyeachaskwhothecraptheyare,theyturnaroundtoseethateachoftheirshadowsaregrowinglongerandclimbingoutoftheground.Nealandtheothersbackupandruntotheedgeofthefloortryingtoescape.

Theyturnbacktoseeamassive,muscularhumanoidHeartlesswithshortlegs,longarms,thincurlyfeet,aheartshapedholeinitschest,andsmalltwistedwings.

TheHeartlessslamsitsfistintotheground,creatingavoidofdarknesssuckingthekidsin.Thekidstrytoclimbout,buttonoavail.Beforetheyarecompletelyenvelopedinthedarkness,thevoicesaysDontbeafraid.Youaretheoneswhowillopenthedoortolight.

NealwakesuponabeachonasmallislandpartoftheDestinyIslands.Itisabrightsunnyday.Neal,feelingextraordinarytired,triestogobacktosleep,butnotbeforeagirlnamedCoralinescareshimawake.Hetriestoexplaintoherhisweirddream,butshedoesntbuythatitwasanythingmore.

TheconversationthenturnsintooneaboutCarolinespast.Shesaysshedoesntrememberanythingbeforetheislands,notevenwhereshecamefrom.Nealsaysforrightnow,itdoesntmatterastheyllallgotheresomedayaswellasalltheotherworldsoutthere.

AnolderboynamedAdamcomesupfrombehind,askingNealandCoralinewhytheyaren'tworkingontheraft.Coralinesaystheywill,theyrejusttakingabreakfornow.Adambegrudginglyaggreestothisandaskswhatdotheywanttodo.Coralinetakesamomenttothinkandsuggestsarace.Almostassoonasshesaysit,NealandAdamraceofftotheothersideoftheisland,Coralinethentryingtocatchup.

Wethencuttolaterinthedaywhereweseethekidsleaningagainstantreelyingonitssideunderthesunset.Thekidstalkabouttheirplanstobuildaraft(aswellastheirbackupplanincausetheraftdoesntworkout)andexploretheoutsideworldandallithastooffer.

WethencuttoabigwhitecastleknownasDisneyCastle.Initshalls,CourtMagicianDonaldDuckwaswalkingdowntothethroneroom.Hemakesittothedoorandopensit,onlytofindthattheKingisnowheretobeseen.Plutothedogwalksoutfrombehindthethronewithaletterinitsmouth.Donaldgrabstheletterandquicklyreadsit.Hethenbecomesshockedandrushesoutoftheroom.

Ashereminisces,hehearsagruffvoicefrombehindandturnstoseeamanlikefigureinabrowncloak.Thefiguresaysthathescometoseethedoortothisworld.Nealaskswhathestalkingaboutandthefigureonlyrepliesthatonewhoknowsnothingcanunderstandnothing.Nealturnstothedoorwithawonderinglookonhisface,thenturnsbackandfindsthatthefigureisgone.

WethencuttoastrangetownknownasTraverseTown,averycalmtowncloakedwithaskyofeternalnight.Wefocusonaapartmentbuildingandzoomintoenteroneoftherooms.There,wemeetBrendonagainaswellasanewgirlnamedAstra.SheworriesaboutBrendonwhoinhereyes,eventhoughhedeniesit,seemsmorefocusedonpayingtherentthanlivinglife.

ShesespeciallyworriedthatBrendonisstressinghimselfoutwhenhepassedoutyesterday.Astrawantstoseewhatsouttherebesidesthisboringtown,whileBrendonjustwantstohavethebestlifepossiblehere.Beforetheycancontinuetheirconversation,theoldlandladysaysthatBrendonhastakentoolongtopayupandpromptlykicksthemout.

street,wonderingaboutwhattodonext.However,theytoareambushedbyHeartless.Brendontriestostopthem,buthisbarefistsdonothing.Whiletryingtoconsiderhisoptions,BrendonhearsAstrascreamoutforhelp.Heturnstohertofindthatshesbeingforciblypushedintoamysteriousdarkportal.

BrendonmanagestopushhimselfthroughtheswarmofHeartlesswell,butonlygetscloseenoughtoreachoutforherhandandmissbyaninch.Justthen,anotherblastoflightandasitfadesout,weseethatBrendononceagainholdstheKeygun.Thatisthelastthingonhismindhowever,asheseesthatAstrahasdisappeared.Shoutingouthername,hebeginsfightingHeartless,searchingforAstra.

CuttingbacktoYumiko,weseeherrunningthroughthestreetsofTwilightTown.Asshesrunning,YumikonoticesthatHeartlessstartpoppingouteverywhere,forcinghertorunharderastheHeartlessstartchasingher.Eventually,shefindsChinatsuandtheybothrunuptoeachothertogivethebiggesthugtheyevergaveintheirentirelives.

AstheHeartlesssurroundthembothandpreparetopounce,anotherblastoflightengulfsthemforasecondandweseethatonceagain,YumikohasherKeybow.ThisgiveshertheopportunitytocoverforthembothastheymaketheirwaytotheClockTower,hopingthattheycanfindshelterthere.

BackonDestinyIslands,weseeNealfightingthroughHeartlesswithhisKeybladelookingforKairi.Eventually,henoticesastrangedoorcoveringtheentrancetotheSecretPlace.CuriouswhatitisandwhetherCoralineisthereornot,hefightshisdoorandopensit.

NealarrivesintheSecretPlace,whereheseesCoralineontheotherendofthecavefacingthestrangewoodendoorshape.NealcallsouthernameandCoralineturnstofacehim.ThereisaweakandemptyexpressiononherfaceassheweaklysaysNealandliftsahandtowardshim.Justthen,thedoorshapegiveswayasa

hugepowerfulwindburststhroughit.Nealforciblystandsstill,butCoralineissentflyingstraightforhim.Nealtriestocatchher,butasshegetsclose,shevanishesfromthinair.ThewindblowsNealbackaswelldownthewayhecamein.

CuttingbacktoTwilightTown,weseethatYumikoandChinatsumadeittotheClockTower.Theystoptocatchtheirbreathonlytofindthatahugeblackvortexisintheskyandamassiveshadowloomsoverthem.MeanwhileonDestinyIslands,Nealisbackonthebeach.However,theislandsare,forthemostpart,destroyed,piecesofitflyingintothebigvortex.HeturnsaroundtofindthatthegiantHeartlessfromhisdreamhasalsoappeared.WealsoseethatthesamemonsterhasappearedinTwilightTown.BothtrytofaceofftheHeartlessintheirrespectiveareas.

Nealhasafiercebattlewiththemonster(knowntofansasDarkside)andeventually,hebecomesvictorious.MeanwhileinTwilightTown,YumikoisstillfightingtheDarksidewhiletryingtodefendChinatsu.Eventually,Yumikoletsherguarddownforasecondandthemonstersweepshertotheside,knockingherout.ChinatsutriestoruntoYumiko,buttheDarksidegrabsher.Shestrugglestobreakfree,butastrangelightengulfsbothherandtheDarkside.

YumikoregainsconsciousnessandfindsthatbothChinatsuandtheDarksidearegone.Shestartsfranticallylookingforheraspartsofthetownstartflyingintothevortex.OnDestinyIslands,thewindsaregettingstrongerasweseeNealfoundasurfacetograbonto,tryingtoresisttheinevitable.LikewiseinTwilightTown,thestrongerwindssendYumikoflyingintotheairandtowardsthevortex.Fortunately,shegrabsholdofthetopoftheClockTower,thougheventhatwontholdforlong.Eventually,bothNealandYumikoaresuckedintothevortex,alongwiththeirworlds.

BackinTraverseTown,weseeDonaldandGoofyhavearrived.Theylookupintotheskyandnoticethattwomorestarsblinkedout,causingDonaldtoproclaimthattheyhavetohurry.DonaldandGoofywalkawaytobegintheirsearch.
