Week 3 – 26th October 2016 Sharing Our News PBL Focus- Empathy This week our PBL focus and our lessons have been based on demonstrating empathy towards others. Students have been asked to ‘put themselves in someone else’s shoes’. We are proud of all of our students who are demonstrating our PBL values of being Kind, Safe, Proud and Supportive. Keep working hard KSPS! Kinder Transition Program Mrs Meredith, Mrs Mackenzie, Mrs Fishpool and Mrs Philpott have been working hard and having lots of fun with our 2017 Kindergarten children. Yesterday our next year’s Kinder children enjoyed their third visit to KSPS, and they are doing a top job, settling in very well to all of the routines of big school. They enjoyed listening to the book ‘How the Birds got their Colours’ and they even decorated a bird of their own! We look forward to getting to know all of our 2017 Kinder children throughout the rest of Term 4. Tell Them From Me Surveys Thank you to all of our families that completed our Parent Focus on Learning Surveys. The survey is now closed but we appreciate everyone who took the time to fill out the surveys. Your thoughts and ideas are appreciated and valued. The responses will play an important role in our planning for the 2017 school year. CAPA Groups All students enjoyed their second week of CAPA groups. We have really enjoyed having our parents come in and support this initiative. Also, we have particularly loved that our parents are sharing their skills and knowledge with our students. Thank you for your support. There are some great pictures on our Facebook page if you would like to take a look at just what our children have been getting up to in CAPA Groups. King Street is an Allergy Aware School
This is a reminder for all families that some of our
students have serious reactions to products
containing nuts and fish.
We ask that you please do not send foods or
containers to school that contain nut or fish
products. This includes nutella and peanut
butter spread.
Planning
It is that time of year again when we are busy
starting to think about the 2017 school year.
If you know that your circumstances will be changing
next year, particularly if you are moving, could you
please let our office staff know as soon as possible.
Accurate planning will help a smooth transition into
2017 for both our students and our staff.

Excitement at the Commencement of CAPA
Groups
Sounds of music, drums, sandpaper and laughter
filled the air on Friday as our students started their
chosen groups. It was so wonderful to see all
students totally engaged in these group tasks.
We are looking forward to seeing what wonderful
things they make and learn over the next few weeks.
When you Receive a
Card from the Queen
Sophie sent the Queen a
card for her 90th birthday and
she was very excited to bring
in her very special letter of
thanks she received from her
Majesty Queen Elizabeth ll,
what a wonderful keepsake.
Annual Town Band Concert
Our next (and final) rehearsal for the Annual Town
Band Concert is at the Singleton Town Band Hall in
Bowman Street at 5.30pm on Monday, 31st
October. Parents and carers, please make sure you
sign your child in and out of the rehearsal at the
back of the hall. Because parking is difficult in
Bowman Street, we are asking that parents park in
York Street and walk the short distance to the hall.
Please note there will be no band rehearsal or
lessons in week 3. It is very important that band
members attend all rehearsals this term as we
prepare for the Town Band Concert on Saturday 5th
November.
Our Kinder Transition
Students Settling in Well
We are so impressed with
how well our new Kinder
Transition students are
settling into class. They had a
fantastic day yesterday doing craft, recognising their
names, putting their hands up, listening and doing
everything that Kinder should be doing. They will
certainly be ready for Kindergarten in 2017.
Collaboration Space Learning
Our Collaborative learning space was a hive of
activity on Tuesday morning with Ms Garven setting
4/5G the task of transporting her ‘duck’ across the
‘ocean’.
Students had to collaborate as a team and use their
STEM skills (Science, Technology, Engineering and
Maths) to build a raft or boat that could do this. They
were given materials and a budget and off they
went! As always their teamwork was outstanding
and the thought that went into their creations was
very impressive.

This is a dog. My dog is fierce. He always gets really angry when bugs fly around him. It’s really funny. I sit down watching him through the window, his name is Bronsen. He is tan and black with a silver chain. He thinks he is protecting us but he isn’t. But sometimes when people come over he does the same thing, then we have to tell him to stop.
