Getting to Know Your Child…Screening and Visitation
Purpose: Introduce your child to the schoolTime frame: 90 minutes• Students will:

September - The First Month…
• Teachers have an opportunity to get to know each child to allow for a gradual adjustment to kindergarten.
• The schedule is tailored to meet children’s needs and allows for a smooth transition.
• Initial assessments will be completed.

7:45 am early drop-off (Use Main Entrance)
• Bus– Students arrive between 8:10 am
and 8:30 am.– Students are escorted to the
Multi-Purpose Room.– At 8:30 am all students are in
their classrooms.

After School Programs
• PTA After School Program• Fall and Spring Programs• Monday-Friday 3:10 pm – 4:15 pm• PTA has offered mini-programs from 11:30 pm – 2:00 pm when there are
half days of school
• Rye Brook Recreation After School Program – 3:10 pm – 6:30 pm (All school year when school is in session)– On site at the Ridge Street School– Arrangements can be made for students participating in a PTA

– Each child needs a backpack-no wheels please!
• Snack
– Children bring in their own snack daily (peanut/nut free)
– Milk is available for purchase monthly
• Labeling
– Write your child’s name on everything that belongs to your child (lunchbox, backpack, jacket, sweater, sweatshirt, etc….)
• Get ready to get messy!
– Send children in clothes that they can manage and are safe to play and get dirty in!
– Children will keep a change of clothes in the classroom for emergency purposes.
• Class placement Information
– This will be mailed to you in late August
• Get involved!
– Join the PTA
