Secretary Terry Liller “Liberty Intelligence, Our Nation’s Safety” 2012 - 2013 By-Lions President Greg Lynch July/August 2012 It has been a busy summer so far for the Keyser Lions Club, and there is more to come! Our fearless leader, Lion Greg Lynch, launched the Keyser Lions Facebook page. You can find it here: http://www.facebook.com/#!/keyser.lions On July 5th, Craig A. Fraley, Sheriff of Mineral County talked about drug problems in Mineral County – including the difficulty of keeping the laws up-to-date in the rapidly shifting synthetic drugs market. Thanks to Lion Sandy Parker for setting this up. On July 19th, Alexandra Garcia from Puerto Rico was our speaker. Alexandra is currently par- ticipating in an internship with Dominion at the Mt. Storm Power Station. Thanks to Lion Greg Lynch for arranging this presentation. The Mineral County Fair runs from July 30 – August 4. Unfortunately the Mobile Eye Screening Unit is not available this year for use by the Keyser, Short Gap, or Fort Ashby Lions Clubs. This is a big disappointment for all three clubs. Hopefully the MESU will be back for the fair next year. Our first meeting for August will be on the 2nd with the District Governor, Barb Fishel, as speaker. The meeting will take place at 6:30 pm at University Place at Potomac State College. Our second meeting on the 16th of August will be held in Burlington,WV at the Flying" W "Restaurant at 6:00pm. Our speaker will be Allan Biser of Team Biser Whitetails. Here are some other upcoming events: The Zone meeting in September will take place in Short Gap. The date is yet to be determined. The Cabinet meeting will take place in Charlestown on 4 August 2012. The Annual Fall Conference will be in Blackwater Falls on 19-20 October 2012. If you plan on attending and staying the night you need to make your reservations by 15 August 2012. I apologize for not getting a July newsletter out in a timely manner. I still have a lot to learn. Thank you to Lion Reeves Taylor for his years of dedicated service as the editor of our newsletter.
