Secretary John Cole “Liberty Intelligence, Our Nation’s Safety” 2012 - 2013 By-Lions President Greg Lynch February 2013 Katya Greetings Fellow Lions, Our first meeting of January was held on Thursday, January 3rd at 6:30 pm at University Place on the campus of Potomac State College. District Governor Barb and her husband, Lion Jack (aka Houdini) were special guests at our meeting. DG Barb recognized several of the Keyser Lions – James Goldsworthy, Pat Bane, Joe Bane, and Terry Mangold – for their service. Check out the picture on the Keyser Lions Facebook page. At this same meeting Lions Sandy Parker, Dallas Adams, and Jeremy Taylor gave updates on the establishment of a Lions Quest Program for Mineral County. See the information below about the upcoming workshops on February 25th. Our second meeting took place on January 17th at the same time and place. Our guest speaker was our fearless leader, Lion Greg’s better half, Dr. Cassie Lynch. She gave a very informative presentation about steps we can take to avoid or reduce the symptoms of the flu and some of the other nasty bugs that are going around this time of year. She suggested that you can find good infor- mation about the flu on the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention’s website (www.cdc.gov/flu). Here are some upcoming events that you might want to put on your calendar as well: February 7, 2013 Keyser Lions Club Meeting – 6:30 pm at University Place on the campus of Potomac State College. February 20, 2013 Zone II Meeting – 6:30 pm at the Fort Ashby Community Center. The Fort Ashby Lions Club will host the meeting and must have a count for dinner by February 13. Zone Chairper- son Lion Jim Price is also requesting that either a club officer or club representative give a brief up- date on club activities. February 21, 2013 Keyser Lions Club Meeting – 6:30 pm at University Place on the campus of Potomac State College. February 25, 2013 the Lions Quest Workshops will be held at KPMS. 82 teachers are expected to be trained during the workshops. Volunteers are needed! Six volunteers are needed to help arrange curriculum materials and classrooms at KPMS on 2/22/13 from 1:00 to 4:30 pm. On 2/24/13 from 3:00 to 4:00 pm, four people are needed to pick up food from Castiglia's and deliver it to the school. On 2/25/13 six people are needed between 7:00 am to 4:30 pm (We might have shifts of volunteers). On that day volunteers are needed to help with registration, serve breakfast, lunch and snacks, and clean up and load up curriculum materials. Please come out and support this important event.
