1C - Environmental Kevin Madry Do's and Don'ts of Air Quality All things GHG: the initiatives, regulations, and implications: You can’t read the paper or listen to the news without hearing about greenhouse gases. There are initiatives, regulations, and implications that affect all of us in different ways – they’re not just for the major industrial facilities. They are all costly and beneficial and proposed and final at the same time. This presentation will gather up some of these headlines and attempt to explain what is currently going on and how you might be impacted. Past, current, and potentially future regulations will be reviewed at the local, state, and federal levels. Main implications of each regulation will be explained to provide a general understanding and an overall picture of all things GHG.

1D - Human Resources Tom Traut & Irene Sanchez M.D. Fitness for Duty Selection: Protecting Both The Employee and the Employer Fitness for Duty Evaluations are a medical legal tightrope for employers. This presentation will focus on best practices employers can use when partnering with a medical provider to perform Fitness for Duty Evaluations. When to perform a Fitness for Duty Evaluation, the components including Medical Examination and Functional Capacity Evaluation, and how the employer can use the results effectively to return the employee to work safely will be discussed.

1E - Safety Jane Cherry Reducing Incident Trends Using a Team Approach: The Hands On Safety Team (HOST) Process Learn how the Hands on Safety Team (HOST) reduced a two-year trend of hand injuries by 60% in one year! By analyzing a mix of behavioral, incident and audit data, the team identified specific exposures. The team communicated their findings to raise awareness, generate solutions, and engage workers at all levels. The HOST team is a unique multi-company collaboration of behavioral safety teams, but the strategy could work equally well within a single company. This strategy can be used to reduce not only hand injuries, but any type of injury your employees face.

She joined RHC in 2006, to lead and enhance the company’s corporate training and development programs, and oversaw the expansion of the training department. for the Behavior Based Safety Management (BBSM) process, to support the Facilitator and Steering Teams in improving and sustaining process participation and results. She has been a member of the Hands On Safety Team (HOST) since its inception in 2009 and serves on the HOST Executive Team.
