At our October meeting we were pleased to welcome three visitors along with a
good number of our members. Mr Colin Orr was our guest speaker explaining
and demonstrating T’ai Chi and we were able to join in a sequence of moves and
breathing exercises. Our competition was a Chinese item, and members brought
along a great variety of oriental objects.
It was agreed that the Craft and Flower show in September had been a great
success, the beautiful weather being an added bonus. All those who ‘Chitty,
Chitty ,bang, bang’ had thoroughly enjoyed the performance by the Lowestoft
Players and the lunch at Barnby Nurseries had been excellent.
Our walking group had been to Beccles and the next outing will be to
Southwold. The walks are a great opportunity to enjoy talking to other members
whilst benefiting from fresh air and of course, usually involves a stop for coffee
and cake.
Our Craft group, which meets monthly, are now making festive items for
Christmas.
We are looking forward to trips to the cinema to see ‘Downton Abbey’ and
‘Judy’.
Members had contributed a good selection of items to the ‘Shoebox appeal’.
November the 10th is our Annual Meeting when members vote for their
committee. One of our members will lead a gentle keep fit session and our
competition is up to twenty words on how to keep fit.
So, Ladies, why not come along and join us!
7:15pm till 9:00 pm at the Working Men’s Club.

Kessingland Marsh
Well, it is that time of the year again, when we start the clear up after the nesting season and when we think about the conservation work needed to be done to enhance our wildlife. The small meadow on the reserve has been cut and the cuttings been removed ready for regrowing next year. The trees need to be looked at to make sure they are safe, some cop picked to enhance regrowth, possibly a couple felled and left for fungi and moss to grow. A couple that have died will be left standing for woodpeckers and bugs to use. We do this every year to hopefully encourage more wildlife to our reserve and to look after the best we can the ones we have. Summer birds are now leaving and the winter birds are arriving.
On Saturday 26th October it was a crest morning with 10 goldcrest ringed. Also they saw cettis on the marsh.
