expansion of knowledge frontiers in the field of Physical and biological
sciences geared towards finding solutions to technological problems at
both industrial and household levels.
The Faculty of Science in Kenya constitutes of eight academic

The University of Nairobi (UON) is the largest university in Kenya. Although its history as an educational institution goes back to 1956, it did not become an independent university until 1970 when the University of East Africa was split into three independent universities: Makerere University in Uganda, the University of Dar es Salaam in Tanzania, and the University of Nairobi.
In 2002 the University had some 22,000 students, of whom 17,200 were undergraduates and 4,800 postgraduates.The university has launched several policy frameworks and introduced module 2 degrees to cope with the demand of higher education in Kenya.

What future holds for science technology in Kenya
However, other disciplines of science especially physics are yet to be realized in the Kenyan Universities and other institutions of higher learning. Such fields includes Accelerator physics, large hadron physics (LHC), Linear Collider Physics, Quantum Electrodynamics (QED), Quantum Chromodynamics (QCD, Computational Physics (CP), Higher Energies and Low Energies.
Apart from the above disciplines there is no equipment to carry out experimental physics related to areas like At Large Ion Collider Experiment (ALICE), Supersymmetry (SUSY), At Televetron Large Symmetry (ATLAS).
Again there is no infrastructure to handle such large experiments even if they acquire equipment today. Trained experts in such areas are needed and with the help of CERN, FERMILAB, ICTP, IAEA , ECT, among other organizations we can make it.
Currently the fields of physics in the master’s and PhD levels include the following:
