Kennall Vale School Ponsanooth, Cornwall TR3 7HY Headteacher ~ Mrs A Force Tel/Fax: 01872 863672 e-mail: [email protected] website: www.kennall-vale.cornwall.sch.uk 22 nd January 2014 ______________________________________________________ Dear Parents The diary for the spring term is filling up and I thought it might be helpful to give you diary dates, some well in advance. I am sure you will agree that although our web site is good, we are developing it and Mrs Goulbourn is currently making improvements to the calendar pages. In the past we have not published dates too far in advance because they can often change. However, the dates attached are correct at present and I do not anticipate further alterations. By publishing INSET days in advance, it is hoped that you will be able to plan family holidays within the school holiday dates. All the local schools, in the Penryn Partnership have agreed one shared closure day (24 th October 2014), which should help a little if you have children in more than one of the local schools. The Educational Welfare Officer is visiting tomorrow. If you would like her to contact you for guidance and advice about attendance please let Mrs Richards know and we will pass your contact details on. Mrs Welch will be returning to Kennall Vale after Easter, on a part time basis. Class 2 will be taught by Mr Blease (three days) and Mrs Welch (two days). Miss Pascoe will continue teaching Class 1 for the summer term. Please ensure that details are communicated to school about agreed arrangements for collecting children at the end of the school day or after clubs, particularly if usual arrangements are changed. The Friends have a number of events planned, including some for World Book Day on March 6 th . In school, each class will “write a book” which we hope to publish. The Friends will be organising a ‘Book Swap’, for adults and children, and a cake sale. Volunteer librarians are still needed, so that children from each class are able to use the library each week. Please see Mrs Medlin or Mr Chirgwin if you can help. Help is also needed to log and label more AR reading books in Class 3. Children in class 1 and class 3 have enjoyed muddy visits to the woods recently! Yours sincerely Ann Force Headteacher
